The Modkat litter box is praised for its stylish design and quality, effectively reducing litter mess. Some cats take to it immediately, while others struggle with the top-entry design. Concerns include difficulty in cleaning due to urine soaking into hems and the high cost of replacement parts. Miskolc cat litter box
This is very nice looking box. But is it hygenic? My cat pees soaked into hems and it is not possible to wash properly. Any solutions how to keep clean?

Fantastic product but not able to source replacement liners
Expensive, yes but does a great job at keeping things clean, offers privacy for your cat (some cats prefer this) and looks like new even after years. I have two and used to recommend them to everyone, but Zooplus haven't stocked the liners for over a year and Amazon charge £32 for 3 (was £6.99 for 1 here). You can use the box without a liner, but they keep the tray from getting scratched inside which minimises smells and cleaning time.

Doesn't laste long
Bought 2 modkats. After 6 months the first one gave out (plastic lip from lip snapped off) and now the second one has gone too. I do have two Maine Coons (6 and 7kg) so maybe their just too heavy for the lid

Nice practical litter box, but the colour is not as shown!
The litter box is great, my two cats took to it straight away. Cleaning is easy, and the rotating lid is practical. The design by Modkat is fantastic and looks modern. BUT the grey colour absolutely does not match the shade shown in the product image. The lid of the litter box is even darker than the "body". I was expecting a dark/anthracite grey. What arrived is a light grey that almost looks white.

Actually 5 stars if it weren’t for...
First, the positive: the cat litter box looks really stylish and fits perfectly in a modern bathroom. My cat also accepted it quickly. Unfortunately, it has one drawback that I find very annoying: I use the litter box with Tigerino cat litter. With this cat litter, the urine seeps through to the bottom. Since the litter insert is not welded but only stitched, the urine leaks through between the lining and the body, which is pretty gross.

Top-Entry
Basically quite good, but I had to completely remove the cover because otherwise the toilet can't be used. 5 stars for the design, 2 deductions for the inserts. Unfortunately, these don't reach all the way to the edge (like with the XL model, for example). I have two stand-up pee-ers, and one of them often manages to hit right at the edge of the insert. The cleaning effort is accordingly high, so I ended up getting the larger model. That problem doesn't exist with that one.

Unfortunately disappointed
I bought the litter box hoping that the amount of litter tracked outside would be reduced. Unfortunately, that's not the case. There's just as much litter outside as there was before with a regular hooded toilet.

There are better ones.
The manufacturer deserves praise for the stylish design, the holder for the litter scoop, and the great folding mechanism. However, the toilet has a flaw precisely in the lid mechanism: since it’s only hooked in at two points, it bends downwards at the exit over time. Additionally, the toilet is too small for larger cats, and it’s very expensive. The Savic Hop In Toilet, which is also available here in the shop, is better in every respect. :)

Still has design faults that need addressing for this price!
I have two indoor cats. One is long and skinny...she refuses to enter and does both her evacuations squatting on top...refusing to enter even after several months. The other is a senior, big tabby boy who just fits and finds it very difficult to get out! I can see how on paper this looks good but mostly suited to young, agile cats. In my experience, not suitable for cats with lessening agility. A 'sport's car' of cat boxes...but sometimes you want ease and space!

Very great invention, but now with drawbacks.
I am very satisfied with the toilet. Great idea having the entrance at the top, but now, after three-quarters of a year, I have to say: the lid's holder is starting to wear out, and if the little rascals jump out quickly or lean on it awkwardly, the lid tips over or even comes out of the holder. That’s not ideal. Something needs to be improved there.

It's ok
Not the best on the market for the huge price tag. The button snapped on one of the boxes I had. Only had it a few weeks. I got a replacement lid eventually, had to wait 8 weeks, no offer of a refund which I would of preferred ideally. It's just not that good.

Only for acrobatic and small cats!
My Aby accepted it, but she’s really tiny and can bend herself in all sorts of ways. The cube itself is very sturdy, but the blue bag needs to be replaced often as it’s not scratch-resistant and starts to smell after a few months (of course, it’s washed and dried). I’m now using the cube as a planter for a large plant. I’ve thrown away the lid/grate and the blue bags as well. Far too expensive and impractical for the cat.

Had to reorder twice.
I bought the Modkat litter box about 2 years ago.
Fairly soon, I had to buy a replacement liner because my two tomcats scratched holes into it while digging.
Even more annoying, though, is that the lever that holds the lid in place and locks it under tension on the side broke after less than a year. This made the litter box completely unusable.
The company was accommodating and replaced the lid for free.
Now, less than a year after the replacement, the same thing has happened again, but the warranty has expired, and I can either throw the litter box in the bin or buy a new lid at a high cost – if I can even get it separately...
For the price, I find this very frustrating. I don’t want to create new plastic waste every year and pay a lot of money for small parts that break.
Another weak point is that the opening at the top lets more odour escape after use compared to regular, closed litter boxes.
Otherwise, I always found it very stylish and practical.

Good overall
Looks good from a far but when you actually look at the edges it is poorly formed with flaps of plastic around the rim and handle which is also a bit discolored... feels a little like cheap plastic and doesn't feel of the quality as i had expected for £129.99 but i haven't had to sweep up any trailed litter in a week which i was doing before twice daily so for that i would say overall is worth the buy.

Modkat toilet lid
Unfortunately, the lids are of poor quality. On 2 out of 3 toilets, the lids broke off at the hinges after a very short time.

Nice design, but...
I bought the Modkat litter box because I wanted a stylish cat toilet that doesn’t look like one. My cats took to it really well, and it truly looks great. The big downside: the liner wears out too quickly and absorbs the smell of urine too much. So, it starts to stink quite soon, and the whole flat ends up smelling of it. Not ideal. Cleaning it is also a bit tricky because you can only get rid of the smell using a washing machine, which isn’t great for the liner—it becomes more brittle, and the urine then leaks out at the bottom. On top of that, the lid broke: the latch snapped off. A shame, because overall, the Modkat litter box is really stylish, but if the urine smell issue continues, I’ll have to reconsider.

Great idea, but
1. The price-performance ratio is a disaster – far too expensive.
2. The product doesn’t deliver what it promises: cleaning is tedious, and when digging after the business, litter inevitably gets stuck between the plastic box and the bag, which didn’t really hold tightly either – we ended up using the toilet without the bag, which made emptying the entire litter quite exhausting.
3. Unfortunately, the base area isn’t large enough for our cats to comfortably do their business – after initial curiosity, they preferred using the alternative toilet.
4. There was still litter outside the toilet...
Conclusion: Considering the costs invested, we were disappointed by this designer toilet and have now set up all our maxi litter trays again.
But it is stylish, fits perfectly with our interior, and was pleasing to the eye. The tigers also started using it immediately after setting it up, which is why we’re still giving it three stars.

Modkat is a great alternative
After much deliberation, I finally bought a Modkat, as the price is quite steep. I still haven’t figured out why it’s so expensive.
We’re still in the testing phase, but one or two of the cats are already using the new litter box. I removed the blue liner because it just gets scratched up anyway, and my high-sprayer pees over it. It would be great if Modkat came in a larger size, as it’s quite tricky for big cats to use. Additionally, the platform attachment isn’t ideal for cleaning—you have to completely remove the lid to dispose of the waste.
Other than that, Modkat isn’t just appealing because of its looks. If I notice that all three cats are using it, I’ll definitely buy a second litter box.

Spreader attachment not very durable
I've had the cat litter box for 3 months now, and the litter tray is already leaking (urine seeps through). Furthermore, the cats step on their "business" when they jump out of the box, and while the litter no longer ends up in front of it, it now lands next to the box instead. It does look great and was immediately accepted by my cats, but the price-performance ratio is completely off, and I wouldn't buy it again.

Why....
Isn't there a larger version of the Modkat? The design is lovely, and the functionality is also nothing to complain about. However, there are Maine Coons, and it would be nice if it were a bit more spacious.
My cat has accepted the litter box despite the somewhat cramped conditions, and after I rotated the Modkat into the "correct" position, she now makes a stop on the tracking grate as well. Indeed, much less litter is scattered around now. However, I still can't do without a traditional litter box, so the Modkat only serves as a secondary toilet. I would have really liked to swap the second box for a Modkat too.
If the cat ever has diarrhoea, the Modkat isn't necessarily the toilet of choice, as things can quickly get stuck in the dense fur (especially on the tail).
As I said, everything would be fine if there were larger versions for big cats. It's actually a shame.
