AI-generated summary based on reviews added by customers

Cat's Best litter has received praise for its excellent clumping and minimal tracking, keeping homes tidy and odour-free. However, recent changes have left some users disappointed, citing issues with dust, inconsistent clumping, and smaller, crumbling pellets. Despite these concerns, many still find it economical and effective, particularly for long-haired cats. Overall, while the product has seen a dip in quality, it remains a favourite for its cleanliness and ease of use.

This cat litter works fine but the packing can be improved

Declining Quality

I had been using this product for few year and was initially very satisfied with its clumping ability and the fact that it is environmentally friendly and flushable. However, now its clumping ability is next to nil. At best you are left with a mound of soggy saw dust which has become very difficult to scoop out without wasting a lot of the product. I used to recommend this product to friends but sadly I have now had to switch to a litter which contains clay but has excellent clumping ability.

Pellets are way too big

The pellets are way to big, become hard to clean without wasting a lot of litter and trail when the cat get out. It also doesn't really cluster on poo. I used to love this brand, but it's really not up to par anymore.

Clumps Well But Too Much Dust

This cat litter clumps well but there is alot of dust that collects under the pellets. This can cause irritation to a cats respiratory tract & possibly trigger asthma attacks, as my cat on occasions does have a coughing fit. To prevent this the larger pellets need to be sieved before being placed it into the cat tray. This should have been done during the manufacturing process before its packed.

Danielle Obrien

I use this cat litter for many years as it really was the best especially for clumping but very disappointed in the last few months as this litter has stopped clumping like it should I have emailed Cat itself to see what’s happened if there’s been some change in it and will definitely be considering using something else. I have three indoor cats and usually buy, at least two bags a month but on the last note will say zoo plus is fantastic !

Cat litter

I have brought this product for over a year but this last load I have brought is not clumping as it use to it all breaks up. Which is a shame the quality seems to have dropped

drop of quality

used to like this litter a lot - natural, relatively affordable, not dusty. However, I noticed the quality has significantly dropped in my recent orders. It doesn't clump as nicely as before and sometimes clump so loosely that its un-scoop-able. Very disappointed.

Not bad, not great

Thought I would try something different, I usually get Greenwood’s plant fibre green clumping litter, and I much prefer Greenwood’s. This didn’t seem to clump quite as well as the Greenwood’s option, and I found it didn’t disguise the smell as well. Overall, it’s not bad & and it works but is a bit messy. Incase anyone is wondering if to try either!

Okay

Used this litter for ages and liked it, however the price has gone up so much! It clumps well but does track a fair amount. I changed to the corn litter and am so much happier with it! Good product but not worth the amount it costs.

Not as good as it used to be

I buy from zoo plus as it used to save me money. This has just jumped up £3 a bag, not worth the money as it tracks a lot more than it used to and sticks to my main coons fur

Mixed review

So I switched from the cats best original as the tracking was becoming awful. This does track less however it doesn't last as long. I have to buy a fresh pack every month whereas the original would be every 2-3 months for the same size bag. It is more expensive too so it has its good and bad points but it does track less than the original which is what I wanted.

Best cat litter, wish they would change back to old formula

Best cat litter we have used. i just wish they would change back to old formula where the pellets were bigger. The litter now causes tracking even with an enclosed litter box and theres a lot of dust in the bag now. Not sure why they changed the formula as a lot of customers feel the same.

Not as good as they used to be

I have used this product for several years now and always found it exceptional - no tracking. The last two bags that I have received the product is not as good - there seems to be a lot of dust and the pellets are smaller, this causes the product to track around the house. Can the manufacturers please explain why they have changed the formula please.

Was brilliant, now average

When I first got this product, it changed everything! The big pellets didn't track, and created big non-dusty clumps. However the last few months the pellets have got smaller and now I'm finding the clumps are breaking up. One more chance or I think I'll have to try something else :(

Could be better....

My primary criteria is non tracking and easy disposal. I have been using this product for a year now. I’m mostly happy with it, but the clumping is noticeablely not performing as well as it could. There is too much spreading and wastage. As soon as any pellet comes into contact with any moisture the pellet sticks to it , even if it’s dry . Rather then sticking as a clump, it just spreads wide across the bottom of the tray. Throwing so much away. Which for expensive litter is just not economical

Poor

Not sure why Zooplus are still selling this product. It is clearly inferior quality and the buying team should address otherwise overall custom will be lost

Why have you changed the product !

I have been using this litter for many years with no problems. However recently noticed there has been a change of packaging and also a change in the size of the pellets. I buy this product as I have 4 Longhaired Persians and they didn’t get stuck in the paws resulting in Little tracking. I have now noticed a steady stream of pellets making there way up the stair carpet. This litter is way more expensive than the normal Cats best and I am afraid I will have to look at an alternative.

Not as good as it used to be...... Why?

I have used this litter for a very long time. After having tried many, many different litters, this one was without doubt the best of them all. Pricier than some, much better than the tiny granules of other clumping litters. I have recommended it to so many people. It is with great disappointment that it seems something has changed . Although still good at odour control and tracking , it does not clump anywhere near as well as it used to. Where I used to easily be able to take the clumps out, now it crumbles and you spend ages trying to remove the left over bits. Please whatever you have changed, change it back to how it used to be.... I am almost getting to the point of looking at other litters 😞

Changed

The product that I got this last time does not clump as before. It now breaks up a lot and uses far more litter than it did. Please revert to original formula as it is now not nearly as good or economical as it was.

Seems to have changed and is less "clumpy"

This is still great for not too much tracking and keeping the smells down, but the pee clumps don't seem to set as well as they used to so it breaks apart and the whole tray ends up with bits of disintegrating damp litter mixed in. This is a real shame as I didn't see me ever changing and now I think I am going to ahve to start searching again :(

Good

They were great! But we noticed there are a lot of small pieces and it's sandy. It's a pity really, because now it's all over the floor, which wasn't the case before. Unfortunately, the quality has gotten worse and the price is high.

Decline in quality

I've been using this cat litter for many years. During this time, the price has skyrocketed and the quality has dropped significantly. On top of that, the quality is inconsistent—sometimes it's better, sometimes worse. For this price, they should really take care of the product's quality.

Excellent but too expensive

One of the best cat litters I've ever tried, maybe even the best. It doesn't smell, doesn't spread dust everywhere, lasts a long time, clumps well, and can be flushed down the toilet without any issues. I used to buy only this one, up until a few years ago. Now I only use it in my little mountain house, where I can't keep the litter box on the balcony. The price has shot up over the years to a ridiculous and unsustainable level. What a shame!

Does what it's supposed to, but at what cost?

Despite the reviews, I decided to go with the pellets because I just couldn’t stand the fine litter all over the flat anymore. In that respect, Cat’s Best Pellets are a lifesaver. My cats do drag out the odd pellet, but nowhere near as much as before. Unfortunately, the litter’s performance is so poor that huge clumps form and you end up using loads of it. In the long run, the litter gets so expensive that a robot vacuum probably would’ve been cheaper.

Not exactly what I need

It raises no dust, and that's exactly what I want! But it doesn't cover the smells at all!!! And it's expensive.

Worked fine for a year

I wonder if something has changed because my cat doesn't want to use the litter box anymore. We've now found a different type of litter, but it smells really bad. She does use that one though. But she won't use the old one anymore… It's a pity, because I actually liked the wood one the best.

Quality has declined

I used to be happy with the Smartpellets for a long time. But for about 10 months now, the packs have contained a lot of pellet dust and small husks, meaning little broken pieces. I always have to sift out the pellets so there isn’t so much dust in the litter box, which my furry friend would breathe in while scratching. If the dust gets a bit damp, it turns slimy, and that’s not very pleasant for a sensitive nose. Because of all the little bits in the litter, it also stays much...

Comes with a lot of dust

I've been using it for a long time and it's the best I've tried, but it keeps coming with more and more dust. I hope they improve that.

Great, but getting worse over the years

I've been using the pellet version for over 8 years now, and compared to the granular one from the same company, it makes much less mess around the house. However, I've noticed that the last few packs are a lot dustier (fewer pellets and more granules/dust); the price has gone up ridiculously, which I can understand, but the quality has dropped.

Decline in quality. Gets everywhere

It’s really efficient, but it gets everywhere. Even with a special mat in front of the litter box, I still find bits of litter in my bed. Every time the cat leaves the box, there’s litter on the floor and wherever the cat goes with it stuck to their paws. Getting it off clothes or bedding isn’t easy. And no, I don’t have the litter box in the bedroom...

Doesn’t clump well

I tried using Weego pellets, but my cat just wouldn’t use them at all. I’m not sure if it was because of the fine texture or the smell, but she always preferred regular litter. So I bought this Cat’s Best one to try, and she used it straight away. The pellets are thicker and there’s no smell, but they don’t clump well and you end up with loads of loose bits. The Weego one clumps perfectly, it’s brilliant, but this one doesn’t. For now, I won’t be buying it again.
