AI-generated summary based on reviews added by customers

Cat's Best litter has received praise for its excellent clumping and minimal tracking, keeping homes tidy and odour-free. However, recent changes have left some users disappointed, citing issues with dust, inconsistent clumping, and smaller, crumbling pellets. Despite these concerns, many still find it economical and effective, particularly for long-haired cats. Overall, while the product has seen a dip in quality, it remains a favourite for its cleanliness and ease of use.

No tracking

I was very happy with tofu/pea litter for smells, but the tracking is a letdown. So, I was looking for the impossible: the perfect litter. I read the reviews and decided to try it. It's a no from me; it doesn't stop smells at all. The only good thing? There is no tracking. Well, back to tofu/pea litter.

The formula has changed

This was my go-to litter for many years, but they recently changed something in the formula. The new formula is much dustier, doesn't clamp as well, and the pellets are smaller and darker in color. Shame!

Not as good anymore

The past 2 bags have been disappointing and no longer clump properly leaving bits of dirty litter throughout the tray. Which means it is smellier and messier than in the past as you can’t riddle it properly. Cancelling my subscription and going back to the old Cats best. Shame as this used to be better with less tracking but not worth the extra money anymore.

Quality has dropped

My cat has been using this cat litter for a few years. I have always been very pleased with this product; it's eco-friendly, clumps well, and has no odor, though it's expensive. However, the quality has dropped a lot in the last few months. Pallets at the bottom of the bag, comprising at least one-fifth of the bag, are like sawdust!

Clumping to weak

Smart pellets work, almost no tracking at all but, and it is a big but; -you pay for this smart clumping but the absorption is so slow making the urine go through to the bottom of the litter tray making pointless the clumping as it won't shape or bond in a way to scoop it out. I'm afraid the previous reviews are honest.

Product has changed

I've bought this cat litter for years and the product I received in January has a VERY steep decrease in quality. The pellets are sharper, smaller, darker and they fall apart easily/don't clump as well as they used too. My cat now tracks it throughout the house. This product is expensive but it always balanced out because I had to empty the whole tray less often. Now I'm emptying more frequently so I need to find a new product. I do not recommend this for long hair cats anymore :(

Big drop in quality

I have been using this cat litter for years, and for a few months now I've observed a big drop in the quality of the product. The pellets are not as dense, as they used to be, therefore they break apart quite easily. It results in a lot of dust, and cats dragging the crumbs out when walking out of the litter box. Disappointing. Buying something else starting this month.

Quality has deteriorated

I used to love these pellets. SO much better than the ordinary Cats Best so well worth the extra. I like clumping litter so there is very little choice in pellets. However, recently the litter has been more like dust. The pellets are very small and just disintegrate. I emailed Cats Best but never got a reply. Very disappointed.

Quality deterioration

I have been buying this litter lately because it wasn't tracking as badly as the previous sort. But the quality has deteriorated and it quickly breaks up into tiny crumbs which make an awful mess. I won't be buying again.

Crumbles leaving soiled litter behind

Always purchased the Cat's Best Smart Pellets because there was little or no smell, when first put out very woodsy smell, clumped very well, easy to scoop up taking everything soiled. Now something has changed and urine spots crumble on contact with the scooper making it very difficult to collect all the bits. Using a lot more litter and cleaning out the litter box far more frequently. Please return to the old smart pellets - please.

Constant ripping bags

I love this product and there is no better litter on the market but something has changed with the bags. I am tired of every single one ripping, the last 5 I have bought have all been the same. One split and was left outside by the delivery driver is only to get rained on. You can imagine the mess. Please solve your issues with your bags.

Not effective clumping.

I am trialling this in just one of 3 litter boxes. What it is good: it seems to track very little. The clumping is useless. The nature of the pellets I think it may take quite a while to clump successfully. If you have a cat that digs then it is scattered about the tray and hard to remove. Cats not using it as much as their current litter possibly due to pellet texture under their paws.

Great idea. End product needs reworking

I was looking for a litter that would be as good as the corn one made by Aussies. That thing is a miracle. I saw this product and hoped it would deliver the same. Only if I mixed it with the regular cat's best litter (red and green) - then the clumping was OKish. But smell and waste were unacceptable. I may have paid less for the litter, but ended up throwing a lot of it away. Sadly, I can't recommend.

These were fantastic, but now not worth the extra money

Our cat has what can only be described as "sticky feet". I've been using this product for a while & it solved the problem of her walking litter all over the house. NOT ANY MORE. They've made the pellets smaller & now we're back to vacuuming her litter trail after every visit to the tray. It's not worth paying extra for a litter that is as messy as the lower priced version. Why on earth would the manufacturer change a winning formula?

Unfortunately, it did not work :(

Our cat does not use other gravels like wood. He has a long coat, so often leaves spreads the gravel on the rugs. This litter is quite small, so it does not stick to the feet. It reduces the smell but not as much as "Cat's best universal". Unfortunately, it is absorbed strangely - at the bottom it gets into a very hard layer that can be removed only with a spatula, and sometimes there is still a wet layer in the litter box. Therefore, our cat after using the cuvette once does not enter it. Unfor

Not for us

We tried this for the anti-sticking feature but overall I think it hasn’t been a success and we’ll be switching back. Our kittens (short haired) struggle to bury their poo because of the large size of the pellets, this seems to upset them, possibly because inefficient burial means there’s a bit more of a smell. There may be a small improvement in the amount of scattering of cat litter stuck to kitten paws, but it’s really only marginal and I’m still having to clean up regularly. Shame really.

I can’t understand why Cat’s Best has made the change

I bought this as I could not find my usual Cat’s Best for long hair cats which I have used for years... unfortunately the quality is not up to the expectations, as this litter tracks everywhere in the house and it seem to have less odour control than the previous formula. I ‘m disappointed . I can’t understand why Cat’s Best has made the change!

Please change back to previous formula

Disappointed in last batch I bought, formula has changed and is no longer the great product it was. Can’t face the search for a new litter, please give us the old product we know and love.

Now a waste of money

What on earth has happened to this cat litter, it was the only one I was able to use that didn't track . Now it doesn't clump properly and I have the hoover out twice a day, as it is tracking everywhere and turning to sawdust full stop utter waste of money has anybody got a suggestion for an alternative for long haired cats that doesn't track?

Something has changed

I last bought this litter in March and it used to be great until it went out of stock for a long spell....BUT when it came back into stock something has changed with this litter which is really disappointing. Whilst it doesn't trail across the floor after my cat exits her litter box, the clumping of this litter is not what it used to be. It now seems to break up when trying to empty it. I seem to be using so much more of this stuff for this reason. Really disappointing, why fix something that isn't broken. This used to be the best litter, I've been using it for 14 years or so but I am beginning to think about putting myself through the trauma of trying alternate makes.

It's not what it used to be

I've been buying it for a long time because Sugus has asthma, and while looking for pellets with little dust, I found these. For years they've been great; I might find some dust at the bottom of the bag, but now there's dust from the very first time I pour it into the litter box. You can't lower the quality and keep the same price.

Best for cats

I've been using this litter for years. I ordered it again two weeks ago, but something has changed – it now looks like cardboard, and even when the cat does its business, it clumps together so much that it's almost impossible to sift with the scoop. If the next bags are like this too, I'll have to try a different litter. It's a shame they've managed to ruin something that was so good.

Quality varies

At first, I was really impressed with the cat litter. But for about a year now, the quality has been inconsistent—sometimes it's great, but other times it's poor because I often receive almost only sand instead of pellets.

Smart pellet cat litter.

Too small and very crumbly, it's nothing like the "Peewee". I even have the litter tray made especially for these pellets... but I couldn't find any. Patjean.

Quality has really declined

I've been using this litter for many years. The quality has definitely gotten worse! Such a shame. The pellets are smaller and more crumbly, and there's a lot more dust. They used to be light and wood-coloured, but now they're getting greyer and greyer. No idea what kind of leftover batches these are. I've already complained about some bags, but unfortunately nothing changes. 👎 Alternatives are unfortunately also hard to find.

Poor quality

Darker, bits of debris, dowels crushed, overall not like what I usually order.
