Insights from real Pet Parents

AI-generated summary based on reviews added by customers

Cat's Best litter has received praise for its excellent clumping and minimal tracking, keeping homes tidy and odour-free. However, recent changes have left some users disappointed, citing issues with dust, inconsistent clumping, and smaller, crumbling pellets. Despite these concerns, many still find it economical and effective, particularly for long-haired cats. Overall, while the product has seen a dip in quality, it remains a favourite for its cleanliness and ease of use.

Ok but not that good.

Absolutely no smell however it's not as clumping as the reviews make out. If you pick out pee it just crumbles and goes all over the place. Also the pellets are just too big to use a scooper so lots of wasted litter. Would be top notch if it was more clumping.

Not as good as the oeko plus

We have been using cats best for over 10 years now and usually go for the oeko plus; since our new kitten has long fur we thought we give the nature gold a go, but it is not worth the extra money. You will use up more because it does not clump as well and the thicker granulates do not fit though the holes in the scoop. Cats best is great, but the oeko plus is our preferred option.

wouldn't buy again

Like most cat owners, I am on the eternal hunt for the perfect cat litter, this isn't it. I have 4 maine coons with beautiful long coats, fluffy tails, and extremely furry toes, which is obviously why it does stick to their fur, most breeds don't have such furry feet, so not really suitable for this breed in particular, it does track quite badly because of this, but not anywhere near as bad as the plus (my house looked like an explosion in a porridge oat factory!), and it doesn't clump extremely well either, when you try to scoop it out it falls apart and leaves small urine soaked bits still in the box which in turn start to smell, which defeats the purpose of using a clumping litter in the first place. It doesn't last as long as the plus,it doesn't clump as well as the plus and it's more expensive.

OK but not great

I was over the moon when I found this litter - one that clumped and could be composted, supposedly didn't track out of the litter box and controlled odours. However, my only real gripe with it is that it does track out of the box, to the point that I have woken up in the morning to find my bed full of litter where one of my cats has climbed under the duvet to keep warm and I am always having to vacuum up litter from around the tray.

Good

They were great! But we noticed there are a lot of small pieces and it's sandy. It's a pity really, because now it's all over the floor, which wasn't the case before. Unfortunately, the quality has gotten worse and the price is high.

Decline in quality

I've been using this cat litter for many years. During this time, the price has skyrocketed and the quality has dropped significantly. On top of that, the quality is inconsistent—sometimes it's better, sometimes worse. For this price, they should really take care of the product's quality.

Excellent but too expensive

One of the best cat litters I've ever tried, maybe even the best. It doesn't smell, doesn't spread dust everywhere, lasts a long time, clumps well, and can be flushed down the toilet without any issues. I used to buy only this one, up until a few years ago. Now I only use it in my little mountain house, where I can't keep the litter box on the balcony. The price has shot up over the years to a ridiculous and unsustainable level. What a shame!

Does what it's supposed to, but at what cost?

Despite the reviews, I decided to go with the pellets because I just couldn’t stand the fine litter all over the flat anymore. In that respect, Cat’s Best Pellets are a lifesaver. My cats do drag out the odd pellet, but nowhere near as much as before. Unfortunately, the litter’s performance is so poor that huge clumps form and you end up using loads of it. In the long run, the litter gets so expensive that a robot vacuum probably would’ve been cheaper.

Not exactly what I need

It raises no dust, and that's exactly what I want! But it doesn't cover the smells at all!!! And it's expensive.

Worked fine for a year

I wonder if something has changed because my cat doesn't want to use the litter box anymore. We've now found a different type of litter, but it smells really bad. She does use that one though. But she won't use the old one anymore… It's a pity, because I actually liked the wood one the best.

Quality has declined

I used to be happy with the Smartpellets for a long time. But for about 10 months now, the packs have contained a lot of pellet dust and small husks, meaning little broken pieces. I always have to sift out the pellets so there isn’t so much dust in the litter box, which my furry friend would breathe in while scratching. If the dust gets a bit damp, it turns slimy, and that’s not very pleasant for a sensitive nose. Because of all the little bits in the litter, it also stays much...

Comes with a lot of dust

I've been using it for a long time and it's the best I've tried, but it keeps coming with more and more dust. I hope they improve that.

Great, but getting worse over the years

I've been using the pellet version for over 8 years now, and compared to the granular one from the same company, it makes much less mess around the house. However, I've noticed that the last few packs are a lot dustier (fewer pellets and more granules/dust); the price has gone up ridiculously, which I can understand, but the quality has dropped.

Decline in quality. Gets everywhere

It’s really efficient, but it gets everywhere. Even with a special mat in front of the litter box, I still find bits of litter in my bed. Every time the cat leaves the box, there’s litter on the floor and wherever the cat goes with it stuck to their paws. Getting it off clothes or bedding isn’t easy. And no, I don’t have the litter box in the bedroom...

Doesn’t clump well

I tried using Weego pellets, but my cat just wouldn’t use them at all. I’m not sure if it was because of the fine texture or the smell, but she always preferred regular litter. So I bought this Cat’s Best one to try, and she used it straight away. The pellets are thicker and there’s no smell, but they don’t clump well and you end up with loads of loose bits. The Weego one clumps perfectly, it’s brilliant, but this one doesn’t. For now, I won’t be buying it again.
