Cat's Best litter has been a favorite for its excellent clumping, odor control, and minimal tracking. Recently, however, users have noticed a decline in quality, with smaller, dustier pellets that crumble and don't clump as effectively, leading to more mess and odor. Despite this, some users still appreciate its odorless nature and ease of cleaning. Many are disappointed and considering switching brands, but others remain loyal due to past satisfaction.

Decline in clumping quality

I'm disappointed.
The quality has declined, and it’s become more expensive. It doesn’t clump as well anymore and smells more. It also spreads more around the flat.

Quality has significantly declined
I have been buying this cat litter for years and was always satisfied, despite the price. Since the new design, the quality has significantly declined. Cat urine no longer clumps and spreads throughout the entire litter box. As a result, my sensitive cats are reluctant to continue using the litter box. If I find a good alternative, I will switch to a different cat litter.

Please change back to previous formula
Disappointed in last batch I bought, formula has changed and is no longer the great product it was. Can’t face the search for a new litter, please give us the old product we know and love.

The product has deteriorated significantly.
We used this litter happily for several years and accepted the high price due to its good quality. Unfortunately, the litter has changed a lot in recent months. Poor in usage (high consumption), expensive, dustier than before, and even its trademark – that the pellets don’t get carried around – no longer applies. Pellets all over the house. The clumping has also changed; it now forms a slimy consistency that no longer dissolves in the toilet.

Very good product
My Ragdoll cat leaves very little of this litter on the carpet. I have floor cushioning where my cat litter box is located but I do have a piece of carpet in front of the litter box so I don't get litter on the hard floor. It clumps together so is easy to remove, there is no smell from the litter box. I recommend this product, it is economical to use.

No longer my litter!
Sorry, I can't see the benefits (for the customer)! Clumps poorly, hard to separate, but more expensive. My cats will have to get used to something else. Such a shame.

Massively declined - we will switch
Our three Maine Coons have been using this litter for years.
The price was justified because the performance was convincing.
Perfect odour absorption, compact pellets, solid clumps, and no annoying litter crumbs all over the flat.
We WERE convinced.
Worse price offers are one thing. But combined with a radical drop in quality, it's unacceptable.
There are litter crumbs everywhere in the flat. It crumbles already in the toilet. It hardly clumps anymore. And the odour is getting worse.

Pleasantly surprised
Yes, it’s more expensive now and there’s no longer 2 x 20L. But the clumps are as good as ever. Okay, maybe a few more pellets scattered around, but otherwise very satisfied.

Cat's Best Nature Gold / Smart Pellets
I keep 5 Norwegian Forest Cats in my flat and have been using Cat's Best Nature Gold for years. The new litter is dust-free. The "Smart Pellets" are very hard and, at over 2 cm, actually too long. Unfortunately, no clumps form. The urine runs through and causes huge slabs at the bottom of the litter trays. The consumption of cat litter is therefore enormous, which, with 5 cats, really adds up. A dust-free, clean flat does come at a price.

Worse but more expensive
The lovely term "lightly clumping" now means that the clumps easily fall apart again.
The pellets stick more to the cats' paws, though at least they are compostable. It would be better to go back to the old quality with the affordable double pack. With 7 long-haired cats rescued from mass breeding, the price really does make a difference.

Now a waste of money
What on earth has happened to this cat litter, it was the only one I was able to use that didn't track . Now it doesn't clump properly and I have the hoover out twice a day, as it is tracking everywhere and turning to sawdust full stop utter waste of money has anybody got a suggestion for an alternative for long haired cats that doesn't track?

Quality has dropped significantly.
We used to love and enjoy the old version of Best Gold for a long time – it was perfect! No smell, absolutely nothing stuck in the long fur of the cats, practically no litter around the house, and if there was, it was only right in front of the litter boxes.
Since the change with the new design, the litter is much smaller and more brittle. Now, some of it gets stuck in the fur and is immediately scattered all over the house!
Why ruin such a super perfect product so badly? Incomprehensible!

Used to be better.
After the quality of cb litter had significantly declined, I switched to this pellet litter. Until a few months ago, I was very satisfied with it. However, even here, the drop in quality can no longer be ignored. It’s dustier, the pellets are much smaller and crumble quickly. The clumps no longer hold together when removed, and the odour control is also no longer effective. The manufacturer seems to be resting on its reputation.

Cat's Best Nature Gold
I received a new delivery of the above-mentioned litter on 27/01/2018 and was delighted to find that the quality has returned to its former standard. The scent of wood is very pronounced, and the clumping works perfectly.

Quality issues
We always used to buy this litter with great pleasure. Surprisingly, the price has gone up massively, while the quality has gone down at the same time. Such a shame.

New name, more money for worse quality
Since the name change, there’s no affordable bulk package anymore, and now it’s called "lightly clumping," which basically means the clumps fall apart straight away.
Unfortunately, it seems I’ll have to start looking for a different litter from another manufacturer.

Quality has deteriorated significantly.
For ages, we've been using "Nature Gold" for our cats... Now the name has changed, and unfortunately, so has the quality: the bag now only contains small to tiny pellets and lots of dust – which means our Maine Coon cats end up spreading it all over the house, and it even gets stuck in their fur. The disappointment and frustration are huge!

Why has it changed??
Like other reviewers, I have ben using this product for some time (6 years). It was by far the best litter for long haired cats. The new 'rebranded litter" is so inferior. It doesn't clump properly anymore and turns to powder quickly which ends up tracking everywhere! I am desperately seeking a replacement!

Cat'sBest Nature Gold - Smart Pellets
We were convinced by "Nature Gold" and recommended it to others. "Smart Pellets" are not pellets but crumbs. Our Nevas spread it all over the flat. We'll look for an alternative. We definitely won't be buying Cat's Best again!

Super bedding
I’m absolutely thrilled that I can dispose of this litter in the toilet—it saves space in the bin and in the flat. For me, it’s the absolute top-notch litter, though unfortunately, it’s often sold out.
