SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap

Got this cat flap after my cat was being beaten up in our house by a random neighbourhood cat that also had a magnetic collar allowing him entry through the old cat flap. Since installing this microchip flap George (the cat) is less stressed and more secure his home won't be invaded by other unwelcome moggies.

I was disappointed in this cat flap almost from the start. The closing mechanism slides sideways and can be knocked by a determined paw. I set on "in only" and my cat managed to change it to "out only" and lock herself out. After just over a year, the microchip locking mechanism failed and my cats couldn't get into the house. I tried first replacing and then removing the batteries but that didn't help. I've had to tape the catch open with duct tape, thus losing the advantage of a microchip flap! It's not a cheap item (although I think it's cheaper at zooplus than elsewhere). I'm looking to see if there is an alternative microchip cat flap to replace this one.

I decided on this model this after some research on electronic catflaps and after 2 months of use by 4 cats I am really pleased with this! It's sturdy and well built, battery operated (which avoids any unsafe cable mess), and the chip-reader mechanism is very reliable. The kitties are very happy with it too! Recommended.

What a fabulous idea! No more stray cats wandering into our house to eat our cat's food, plus we can now leave our cat for a few days safe in the knowledge that he can easily go and in out of the house.

Easy to fit - mine was in place of an older "manual" flap but detailed instructions are enclosed anyway. Our Molly gets through it with no problems not realising she carries her key under her neck skin! A really good buy.

This is so easy to use and is just great for our 9 month old cat. It's a good size and easy to fit. We have a UPVC bevelled back door and my hubby fitted it no problem. It also has a plastic transparent door which my cat likes to look through! We have a lot of cats in our area so it's reassuring that only our cat can use it and no others can get in. Would absoultely recommend.

This is the second one I've ordered because the first one couldn't hold the battery charge anymore. So, I've had it since 2008, and now it's 2026, and thanks to their microchips, my three cats can use the cat flap. No other cat can get in or out, even though the latest cat flap allows a cat that might have accidentally followed one of mine inside to leave, but that's never happened. I don't understand the negative reviews—personally, I think it's great.

Works just as described. All the cats got used to the feeders very quickly. All it took was putting their favourite pouch inside and letting them sniff it. They knew it was there, just had to figure out how to get to it. A couple of times they jumped when the lid opened, but their desire for their favourite pouch was stronger. There's no smell of food at all in the flat. I already have 3 feeders for cats on different diets (one tomcat on urinary, another tomcat on no special diet, and two cats on gastrointestinal).

Cat flap in use with 2 cats for 11 years. Scanning the microchips is easy to understand and do, the flap was installed quickly and works reliably. After 11 years, the 4-way lock has worn out and falls out if a cat goes through too quickly. Had a chat with extremely friendly customer service, and now they're sending me a replacement lock free of charge. There really is still quality and service in Germany. Thanks.

We've been looking for days now because the hatch's post-installation programming isn't working when our cat wants to come in 🤢

Now on our third cat flap in five years. At first it works fine, but after about a year and a half it starts draining the batteries. Now I have to replace the batteries every day.

Just doesn't work, plain and simple.

A cat from outside pulls the flap to the side with its claws to open it and slips into the house. It has damaged the felt around the cat flap door. Problem with no solution!..

The cat flap only worked for a couple of weeks before it stopped reading the chip. We've had the chip checked by the vet and it's sitting perfectly readable in the cat's neck. We've also changed the batteries, but that didn't help. This is the second cat flap we've had that has stopped working.
