Peace of mind

Easy to fit, very well made and it works superbly. We have a big 6kg cat and he can get through ok. No longer have other cats pinching our cat's food or spraying indoors. Have had a SureFlap for a couple of years and after 18 months had a fault with the original. Sureflaps service dept dealt with the problem and sent us a new (improved) flap with no fuss. Highly recommended and excellent service.

Amazing

Have bought this item based on previous reviews and can I say was not disappointed very easy to work. If you have a rather large cat they may struggle both of mine are just over 4kg and is fine for them.

really pleased!!

We've had the cat flap for about 2 months now and are really pleased with it - our cats are too. I'd buy it again

Absolute must buy!

Bought the sureflap to replace a staywell. It's brilliant - very clean and robust design. Easy to fit into the existing hole - with a little bit of persuasion. Extremely easy to set - just one button - the battery compartment is easy to open too. My cat went through it no problem and was using it within minutes only slightly disconcerted by the click initially but completely over that now. The best thing is that it keeps my pesky neighbours' cats (there are 7 of them) out of my house which was a real nuisance. The click is very quiet compared to similar cat flaps - I had a staywell infrared cat flap previously -the click was annoyingly loud, the batteries were expensive and my cat was constantly losing collar keys which was expensive and meant she was locked out. The two staywells I have had also degraded quickly and the outside lip broke into pieces. The sureflap has a very sturdy design which I am sure will last well. It is slightly smaller than my previous cat flaps but my current cat is a very large ragdoll cross and has no problems with it. Well worth every penny!

Great Buy

I spent a long time researching which cat flap to buy for our new kitten, and loved the idea of a microchip catflap to keep out other cats. I went for the Sureflap as it is battery operated so need for wires trailing. I am 100% happy and would recommend it to anyone. It took a while for our cat to learn how to let himself out, but learned very quickly how to get in when another cat was chasing him! I have total piece of mind that he can get in and out when he wants and don't have to worry about other cats following him into his home. It is a little draughty in the winter, but I imagine this is to be expected with all catflaps.

the only cat flap any one should buy!!!!!

Ive had my for over a year, the best thing i ever buyed!!!! i move to my new house and noicest their where lots of cats/toms on are street always comming into are home spraying every where and fighting with are 4cats in their own home, witch would upset them and never come down stairs. Now got the microchip flap their been a lot happer and claimer, nice to see them all reaxls and cuddle on the sofer once again.

worth every penny

we had alot of problems with other cats coming into the house. we got a new cat who we rescued from the rspca and we wanted her to feel safe in her own home. the microchip catflap was easy to install, went straight into the hole of the old one. the click frightened her abit to begin with, which meant it kept locking before she got the chance to come in. she has now got used to it and has no problem at all. i recommend this to every cat owner, it not only makes your cat feel safe but it also stops unwanted cats. i can understand some people saying its to small because it is alot smaller than a normal catflap. maybe it would be a good idea to do this in different sizes.luckily our cat is small so has no problems. excellent product, highly recommended

Size of your cat is important!

I have just had this fitted due to an invading un-neutered bully cat coming into my house. Beware, I have a large cat who can only just squeeze through with the aid of his back legs off the ground!! It doesn't look very comfortable. The plastic door itself is not very draft proof and looks like it could easily be broken by the bully boy cat getting upset outside. My other cat, at the moment will not use it as she is scared of the clicking sound and the enclosed tunnel feeling. But I will continue to help and coax her through. I am hopeful. I am satisfied with the product as I know when I am out or trying to sleep, the bully cat cannot enter. Maybe SureFlap need to make two sizes in the future. Or else I will have to buy dog flaps in future, just in case!!

Excellent!

This is an excellent product. I bought it as a way to keep the neighbour's cat out of my house, as he was terrorizing my two cats, and eating all their food. The flap was installed, I found it very easy to program my cats' microchips into it, (just the push of a button actually). It took the young cat some time to get used to it - but after a couple of weeks he was an expert! My older cat, 6 years old, started using it immediately. It has really transformed life - the cats can now go in and out as they please, and there is no threat from the neighbour's cat now. I really love it!

Too posh to push!

My 2 new cats had never used a catflap before. One of them is very nervous & we have had problems with intruders coming through the old flap. I was delighted with the concept of Sureflap & thought it would solve all our problems. However after 4 months I am still in training mode. Started off with batteries out & flap taped open & slowly got both to use it just as open hole - they won't push! Have now advanced to batteries in but still taped open. The younger cat is using it, although still jumping at loud click, but the 3 year old just won't go near it and is terrified of click (despite fact she has used open flap in training mode since July). I can't advance to full flap shut mode until I can get her used to this stage. Help - have tried food bribery & persuasion but to no avail. Am out at work all day. Can anyone help? The weather is getting colder & it's drafty!

Stuck Paws and Escape Artists

We've had our Sureflap for around 6 weeks. It works fine and our cats can come and go as they please. However our cat got his paw stuck in the flap recently, which was pretty horrible. He must have put his paw through, changed his mind and then pulled it back. He obviously panicked which made things a lot worse and squashed his paw. When my partner and I tried to free him his paw got squashed more. After much hysterics I managed to hold the catch down from the inside (putting up with lots of biting, srcatching and howling) while my partner pushed the door from the outside. This set our cat free. It would be interesting to hear if anyone else has had this problem. ? In addition my other cat managed unlock the unit. The lock was turned to the open position, I presume with his teeth, enabling him to escape in the middle of the night. We were quite astounded at this. Has anybody else experienced this or do we have a master escape artist on our hands?

The best on the Market!

Iv'e had a few different cat flaps that have given the ghost up after a few months. A serious problem occurred with a local cat coming into our house by forcing it's way through our cat flap. The catch on some cat flaps are really small and easy to force open. This ones so robust, simple and easy to set up that dispite the high price tag it's worth every penny and more.

Great Concept

I've had this unit now for just over 12 months and I've been really pleased with it has it has made my cat's life so much more relaxed as the bully cat can no longer come in and terrorize. However, like some other reviewers, I have had some problems this week with the catch being stuck down so that the flap does not lock. I have read different reviews on other websites and found that using a little WD40 may do the trick so off I've been to the supermarket and voila - it works!!! So I'd advise before you get another one to try this :)

OUR HAPPY CATS

IN THE EVENING THIS CAT FROM DOWN THE ROAD ENTERED OUR HOUSE THROUGH THE ORIGINAL CAT FLAP PILLAGING ALL THE FOOD IT COULD FIND AND FRIGHTENING BOTH OUR CATS. NOW WE HAVE TWO HAPPY CATS AND A FRUSTRATED FACE AT THE WINDOW THANKS TO SureFlap

brilliant

a neighbours cat kept on coming in eating my two rescue cats food and beating them up. now it lies in wait outside and ambushes them when they go outside! but it cannot get inside anymore which is a sanctuary for my two cats now.........

Fantastic product

I have two LaPerms and thought that Oli, the boy who is more confident, would get used to this very quickly and Lulu, the girl, would choose not to use it at all as she is very nervous. Well after three days of posting Oli through it, Lulu took the bait and now loves it. The freedom it has given her seems to have given her more confidence. Meanwhile a week on Oli dtill sits and waits to be posted through it! Although today he has gone out of it by himself! I have had a week of laughter watching them work it out but am delighted that within a week we are nearly there. The lock does click loudly so can take a while for less confident cats to get to grips with it, but is a good sturdy product and will stop the neighbourhood tom cat popping in through the open window my two used to use.

Hasn't lasted well

After around two years, the electronics in this have stopped working and the flap was locked shut for cats coming in - including ours. They could get out all right but not get back. I've had to use duct tape to override the catch. Also, the fiddly little manual lock can be knocked by cat paws and they have managed to set it to "out only" more than once. I'm now looking at Pet Porte reviews to replace this flap.

Brilliant cat flap

I have 4 cats and they will only go out the patio door. I have had the sureflap fitted into a glass patio door and it has been brilliant. Even though 2 of my cats are very nervious they soon got used to using the catflap. They now have the freedom to go in and out as they please but no other cats can get in

not working at all

I have got a sureflap no problems for 18months now doesnt work. have changed batteries and cleaned unit.It now lets in the tomcat from next door which sprays everywhere am in despair HELP! My two cats are now nervous wrecks. Was thrilled with it at first although expensive!

That's got rid of the stray!

Just recently we had a stray coming & eating all the food but no longer with the microhip cat flap. Firstly I programmed it to respond to the cats chips just to make sure it worked then it fitted perfectly into my existing cat flap hole. It is a bit of a squeeze for my 5kg very fluffy cat but he does manage ok. Wish these had been around years ago.

super

This is the second one I've ordered because the first one couldn't hold the battery charge anymore. So, I've had it since 2008, and now it's 2026, and thanks to their microchips, my three cats can use the cat flap. No other cat can get in or out, even though the latest cat flap allows a cat that might have accidentally followed one of mine inside to leave, but that's never happened. I don't understand the negative reviews—personally, I think it's great.

Handy little gadget

Works just as described. All the cats got used to the feeders very quickly. All it took was putting their favourite pouch inside and letting them sniff it. They knew it was there, just had to figure out how to get to it. A couple of times they jumped when the lid opened, but their desire for their favourite pouch was stronger. There's no smell of food at all in the flat. I already have 3 feeders for cats on different diets (one tomcat on urinary, another tomcat on no special diet, and two cats on gastrointestinal).

Brilliant cat flap and brilliant service

Cat flap in use with 2 cats for 11 years. Scanning the microchips is easy to understand and do, the flap was installed quickly and works reliably. After 11 years, the 4-way lock has worn out and falls out if a cat goes through too quickly. Had a chat with extremely friendly customer service, and now they're sending me a replacement lock free of charge. There really is still quality and service in Germany. Thanks.

lasts about 2.5 years

Now on our third cat flap in five years. At first it works fine, but after about a year and a half it starts draining the batteries. Now I have to replace the batteries every day.

Clever cat!

A cat from outside pulls the flap to the side with its claws to open it and slips into the house. It has damaged the felt around the cat flap door. Problem with no solution!..

Stopped reading the chip

The cat flap only worked for a couple of weeks before it stopped reading the chip. We've had the chip checked by the vet and it's sitting perfectly readable in the cat's neck. We've also changed the batteries, but that didn't help. This is the second cat flap we've had that has stopped working.
