Good..while it lasts
I was initially really pleased with this as it was more sturdy than the Amazon one I'd previously bought, but I did end up using some hand weights to lay on the base in order to prevent it toppling when my cats fly from the top down. Then, after only 6 months use, I moved it to hoover past it and the post broke away from the base in my hand creating a mess of sawdust and splinters. Won't be reordering!

Not as good as previous version
Still an amazing value for money but am disappointed with the change in updated version and feel it’s not as good for cats. There’s less scratching area, it’s only half sisel and now half material. If you have a tall cat they won’t be able to stretch up fully as they’ll touch material rather than sisel. Have a 3 legged cat who used to scratch lower part of old one but can’t on this one as it’s higher up.

Decrease in quality
I have bought a number of these posts over the years, and my most recent one, bought approx. last month is of the poorest quality yet. The post is not as wide, has less sisal on it ,and the sisal is thinner. The base is smaller and not as weighted, and the material the post is covered with is not of the same quality. It now balls. Shame. I find a lot of the products I re-purchase do not maintain the original standard of quality.

Smaller
Smaller than the older version in all ways, smaller base, smaller in height and the height of the sisal is lower so for large cats they may not get a full stretch. Still seems sturdy but only time will tell. Came in a smaller package so perhaps this is why they've gone smaller ?

This is the 3rd one of these posts I have bought, It has got a lot smaller and thinner and is not as sturdy as the old style post (same price though). Such a shame as I know this wont last as log as the other 's I bought, Not happy my cats are quite small Simesse but jump around like mad . I am glad I still have the old one as I will try and get it restrung,
Cats love it but....
My two cats absolutely love this scratching post, they play fight around it and both love climbing to the top and sitting there like king of the castle. My only problem is that the sisal rope around it is now leaving gaps and I seem to end up with a lot of black fluff on the carpet surrounding the post and I have only had it about two months.

Big but....!
.... the sisal rope is very thin on the ground. Will have to get some new sisal and start again because there are large gaps in between each wrap. Cat loves it tho, and enjoys sitting on the top so for this reason, it's a good buy.
I wonder if this review will get published? I'd already left a review which wasn't used and am beginning to suspect that they do not like to put up reviews that are less than glowing....

Great tree, but there is a down side ...
It's a wonderful tree, nice and tall and robust for even the chubbiest of BSH's, of which I have 4 lol. Only down side it that the sisal very quickly headed south leaving gaps all up the tree exposing the cardboard. I'm a neat freak and this is annoying me now. But given the very reasonable price I may well just buy another.

Good size, but unfortunately the quality has changed
The post from 2025 still had thick sisal and lasted over a year.
With the new post from 2026, however, they only use very thin sisal rope now. The quality is nowhere near as good as before. Definitely a cutback in quality and durability.
