We have several "generations" of these toy fishing rods. Our two cats love no toy as much as these feather rods and could chase them for hours. Unfortunately, the feather attachments on the newer versions can't rotate freely, which causes the string to twist very quickly and get tangled in the feathers. This reduces the fun of playing because the "bird" no longer flies or glides as nicely, and you constantly have to untangle the string.

These fishing rods used to be great! Unfortunately, they've replaced the swivels, and since then, the game is no fun anymore!! Neither for me nor for the cats. The string twists up immediately every time, making it impossible to play. Not worth the money anymore!! Such a shame.

Our cat loves the fishing rod. Unfortunately, as has been mentioned several times, the string gets tangled within seconds, which spoils the fun. If this issue were resolved, it would definitely get full marks.

The new click closure looks great at first glance, but in practice, it's far too stiff, and the spring no longer flies nearly as well. SUCH A SHAME.

My two furry friends always burst with excitement whenever they heard the drawer where the fishing rods are kept. They don’t like the new version as much, probably because of the thick plastic clip. The durability was always so-so anyway, but now they get tangled even faster. I only buy them now to cut off the feather including the clip – they seem to prefer the string these days. :D

I loved this fishing rod, and so did my cats, but the last one was made differently. The string gets tangled all the time. Everything twists, and the feather no longer swings as easily because of the fancy carabiner (which is well-intentioned but not well thought out). I spend more time untangling than playing. On top of that, the pole keeps falling apart. It’s just no fun to play with anymore.

Unfortunately, the fishing rod didn’t last an hour; the feathers were torn off during the very first play. But yes, the cat went absolutely wild for it. It really felt like prey to him—when he had the feathers in his paws, he growled loudly to let his siblings know, “This is mine, not for you!” 🐱

Liked the price compared to pets shops where its 8 pounds, but this particular model tangles a lot and you end up with knots very quickly. Bought 10 as thought it would be a bargain , cats loved them, but I do not like the design as much

The boys love this new toy, even my timid shy boy is flying out of nowhere to join his brothers to play but damn that string! It’s so so annoying it keeps getting tangled and I have to sit straightening out whilst they impatiently wait to play 😭 will definitely have to look for an alternative of something similar as they love it so much!

I have the same problem: I've been using this fishing rod for years because it's my cats' favourite toy, and it always worked great until now. But the new version with the plastic carabiner twists so much that you constantly have to readjust it :( Thanks for the great tip from Bettina (1 review below me) 😊👍🏼 Now it works perfectly again and doesn't twist anymore!

My two cats love this wand, but ever since the connection between the feathers and the wand stick was changed, the string keeps twisting, which is really annoying.

We’ve been buying this play wand repeatedly for a while now because our cats love it so much that we go through them quite quickly. With the last purchase, I ordered five wands at once, and we’ve had the same issue with all of them. The string twists while playing, constantly interrupting our playtime as I have to untangle it.

I’ve bought the fishing rod several times already. Unfortunately, it’s been changed. Previously, you could play with the cats for a long time without any issues. Now, the band keeps twisting constantly and has to be untangled and turned back the other way first. Really a shame. The feather attachment still "flies" very well and keeps the cats interested for longer than other attachments.

The cats love this wand toy, However, the most recently delivered ones had a new feature that I don’t find quite as ideal. Instead of the small ball chain, the feather attachment is now fastened to the string with a plastic hook. As a result, the string gets completely twisted during play, like an old telephone cord, and you have to untangle it again after a very short time. In my opinion, this is a change for the worse. I hope it gets reverted.

Our tomcat is absolutely crazy about the wand toy! However, after just 5 minutes of playing, one feather had already come off, and it probably won’t be long before it’s completely ruined. The price is, of course, absolutely fine, but it’s a shame that it’s not very durable. That said, our tomcat is still very young and quite boisterous when it comes to his toys.

My tomcat really enjoyed playing with the fishing rod, but after just two attacks, the first feathers had already come off. Later, the feather attachment completely broke and, unfortunately, can't be repaired anymore.

Our cat absolutely loves this toy! However, we never let her play with it unsupervised because of the long string and rod on the fishing pole. Unfortunately, the other day, while I was present, she grabbed the toy from the scratching post and dragged it into her hiding spot (which she loves to do). In no time at all, she bit through the string and swallowed at least 70cm of it. We rushed to the vet immediately, where she vomited the string back up. Be careful—never leave your cat unattended with this toy!

Basically really great. The price is super cheap, and it's a fantastic toy for the kitties. There's just one thing to criticise. I've ordered it twice now, and each time it broke after 1-4 days. The holder for the silver chain slipped out of the rubber mount at the feathers and can't be fixed. Something different needs to be thought up there. My cats would love to play with it now, but unfortunately, it's not possible. And the second rod was only delivered yesterday.
