This sand is a hit for chinchillas and hedgehogs, offering great value and no greasy fur. However, its fine grain makes it unsuitable for hamsters and gerbils, leading to respiratory issues and unpleasant odors. Some users noted variability in quality, with some bags being dust-free and others causing sneezing. Despite this, many found the sand to be affordable and effective for their pets, making it a popular choice for those with chinchillas.
Affordable and effective for chinchillas.
Does not cause greasy fur in chinchillas.
Unsuitable for hamsters and gerbils due to fine grain causing respiratory issues.

Affordable and Top-notch
I bought this sand for our chinchillas, and I have to say, even though it's inexpensive, it does the job. You do end up using more of it because it needs to be changed more often (unfortunately, it clumps). But my two love it, and they haven't had greasy fur since I started using it.

Everything's spot on!
The quality is great, especially for the price! The sand is super fine, and my hamster lady loves it! However, only 4 stars because the packaging isn’t completely secure.

Very nice sand
The sand is very fine and really nicely processed. Unfortunately, the bags got damaged during transport, which meant I ended up spreading half the sand around my flat. It's very difficult to vacuum, wipe, or sweep up because it's so fine.
But the most important thing is that my little hamster likes it, and she does.

Traps odours well
I use the sand as bathing and toilet sand for my gerbils. I've already ordered it twice so far. It traps odours perfectly and the 5 kg packs are easy to store. Unfortunately, during the first delivery, one of the bags was torn, so I ended up with sand all over the hallway. At the moment, I'm using bird sand, and the terrarium just reeks, so I'll be switching back to this sand again.

Quartz, sepiolite & the small but significant differences in sand
I am a rabbit owner and wanted to provide my long-eared friends with a digging box. Pets kept indoors absolutely need to satisfy their digging instincts! Just like cats need to fulfil their scratching instincts! For a year, I used Multifit chinchilla sand for this purpose. The rabbits' fur became wonderfully silky, they loved this sand and enjoyed bathing in it. However, this sand is quite expensive (since, of course, the bath also doubles as a toilet), so I switched to very cheap children's play sand. This was accepted immediately, but: its absorbency is zero. So occasionally, I mixed in the expensive chinchilla sand.
Now I’ve ordered this very affordable sand here. Everything arrived intact, although DPD clearly played football with my huge box, patched it up 20 times with tape, and the cardboard was almost completely torn apart. The sand only had a tiny hole in one bag. The colour is wonderful. It’s great for decorative purposes. My bunnies immediately liked it too; they rolled around, bathed – and peed. In the meantime, I’ve read that quartz sand has virtually no absorbent properties. I regularly sift the sand with a cat litter scoop to make it last longer, with a large nappy underneath. Still, after a few weeks of day-and-night use, you notice that the "secret" of the more expensive chinchilla sand is simply its absorbency and clumping ability. This makes it much easier to sift out the waste. The fur doesn’t shine as noticeably as with the pricier sand.
So, to sum up: if you have the discipline and time to regularly sift and rearrange the sand, it will last a long time. However, it doesn’t hold up well against rabbit waste. Nevertheless, I’m giving 4 stars because the sand quality is very good, it doesn’t smell, hardly produces any dust (!!!), and the price is truly unbeatable!
For more sand-related information, search for the terms "Sepiolite," "Quartz sand," and "Chinchilla sand" on Google and get well-informed! It’s really worth it!
And to all rabbit owners: bird sand or aquarium sand are deadly for rabbits! Stay away! Better to try this sand – it’s affordable and, in an emergency, can still be used for many decorative purposes!

Good and affordable
My two gerbils love the sand. At first, I thought it was another bad purchase because my gerbils developed scruffy fur after just one day. Then I found out that they were using their bath as a toilet. I simply tried adding a second bowl, which they happily accepted as their bath. Now their fur is back to being perfectly fine.
One point deducted because the sand gets damp very quickly when exposed to the animals' urine, which doesn’t happen with more expensive options.
As for damaged bags, I can’t agree with that. I was very satisfied.

Super *thumbs up*
The sand is perfect for my gerbils. They love this sand. Their fur is soft, not greasy or scruffy.
Tiny downside: The packaging sometimes has tiny holes where the sand trickles out :S
Still, I absolutely recommend the sand!!! (:

My chinchillas love the sand...
...they love bathing and digging in it.
I think the price is great, but I do have to criticise the packaging. With the last delivery, one bag had almost half spilled out, and the other two were also open.
It would be fantastic if this issue could be resolved.
Otherwise, the delivery was, as always, excellent and lightning-fast.

Top-notch class, shipping -*
The sand is great, but unfortunately, two out of three packets were damaged. So the sand ended up more in the box and around the flat.

Good product, good, poor shipping
My dwarf hamster lady thinks the sand is great, and I think the price is fantastic, but Zooplus really needs to work on their shipping. Unfortunately, the sand was already leaking out of the box before I even opened the package.

Good sand
This is very good sand. I initially thought differently because I had a different one before, but my four dwarf hamsters love it, and with 3 lots of 5 kilos, it lasts a long time.
Sure, one bag was slightly damaged in the box, but otherwise, it's fine. If the packaging improves a bit, it would be perfect.
And Zooplus is reliable too. Thank you!

Very good sand!
The sand itself is top-notch!
I pay much more for 15kg at the local pet shop!
But all the sand bags I received had a hole in them :(

Bathing sand for my three little mice
The sand is really good for my three little mice. Unfortunately, during shipping, two bags were damaged, and I had to transfer them. I would recommend zooplus to use sturdier cardboard boxes for such deliveries. The box looked as if it had been run over by a lorry. The courier who delivered the package left a trail of sand in the stairwell. But the sand itself is liked by my little mice because they enjoy bathing in it.

Well-suited for rats
I've been ordering this sand repeatedly for some time now, and I have to say it's well-suited for my rats. I use it for the rat toilet, and they like going in there.
The only downside is that the bags get damaged during transport every time, and I have to clean the rest of my order from the sand first.

Good
I am very satisfied with the sand, as are my three degu ladies. Unfortunately, the packaging of the sand is not good; almost every order arrives with a damaged package and the sand spilled inside the parcel.

I am satisfied.
The sand is very fine. Doesn’t smell at all (even though I have three gerbils). A tip for everyone who says the sand smells: just replace it more often or, like I do, sift it every 1 to 2 days. That way it doesn’t smell. ;-)

My chinchilla likes the sand
My chinchilla "Otti" likes this sand; he immediately comes to bathe when he hears the sound of the sand trickling in, and he also enjoys being sprinkled with it. His fur is soft and, in my opinion, hasn't suffered any damage, and I've been using this sand for over 2 years. The only thing that bothers me is when Otti does his business in it—after a short time, it starts to smell like urine. Still, I think the sand is good.

Great
I can’t understand the previous reviews saying the sand smells bad at all. My gerbils have taken to it very well.
