This sand is a hit for chinchillas and hedgehogs, offering great value and no greasy fur. However, its fine grain makes it unsuitable for hamsters and gerbils, leading to respiratory issues and unpleasant odors. Some users noted variability in quality, with some bags being dust-free and others causing sneezing. Despite this, many found the sand to be affordable and effective for their pets, making it a popular choice for those with chinchillas.
Affordable and effective for chinchillas.
Does not cause greasy fur in chinchillas.
Unsuitable for hamsters and gerbils due to fine grain causing respiratory issues.

Quartz sand is unsuitable for chinchillas.
Unfortunately, quartz sand is very often labelled as chinchilla sand, but it is completely unsuitable for them! It does not absorb the grease from their fur and, moreover (no matter how finely ground), it is sharp-edged and will eventually damage the fur structure.

Was still good quality as of 3/2022!
Last 2 bags I bought in March last year were still good quality (didn't have lots of dust like others reported) and did NOT cause respiratory issues in my gerbils. Variable quality maybe?
But what's with the recent price jump!?

Top quality
I ordered the sand for my hedgehog. He always rolled around in it. Went down well.

Affordable and Top-notch
I bought this sand for our chinchillas, and I have to say, even though it's inexpensive, it does the job. You do end up using more of it because it needs to be changed more often (unfortunately, it clumps). But my two love it, and they haven't had greasy fur since I started using it.

It's sand but should say dust!
I bought this for my hamster but the it's like dust and made my hammy sneeze so had to remove it.
I'm sure it's great for chinchillas but do not buy for hamsters! :)

Great low-odour fine sand.
I bought this sand for my dwarf hamster and I'm completely satisfied with it. It was an instant hit. Since then, it's been only this sand and no other. I can highly recommend it!

Spoiled Hamster
My hamster seems to really like the bathing sand, as he refuses to use any other products as his toilet or sand bath.
Happy hamster = 5 stars

Unfortunately, it doesn't meet my expectations.
Unfortunately, the chinchilla sand did not meet my expectations, as it started to smell unpleasant as soon as my gerbils used the sand bath. This led to me using more than twice the usual amount. In my opinion, the sand also had a slightly odd smell of its own. It didn’t form proper clumps either, which made it difficult to sift out.
However, if the animals don’t urinate in the sand bath, I still think it’s a suitable bathing sand.

Chinchilla DUST not Sand
Whilst described as sand, this product should be re-branded as dust. NOT suitable for small pets, like Gerbils. It will cause respiratory issues, and easily get into their eyes. SAND needs to be a lot larger grain size, which is not clearly identified wirh this product. In fairness, in rhe description its does state "finely ground", but not reference to grain size on the package, ayating 0-0.3mm so, definitely DUST. Avoid if you are are after a safe SAND for your beloved pets.

Good qaulity sand, and fine for my gerbils
They love to roll in it, no noticeable dust, and a big bag for a decent price!

Massive bag
Very large bag of sand. I’m using it for my hamsters sand bath and it’s perfect. Dust free and great value for money. Should last a very long time.

Cheap and Good
The sand is absolutely fine. Many people have written that it smells very strong, but I personally haven’t had that experience.
Additionally, I haven’t found any sand as cheap as this one.
I should mention that I haven’t had the chance to compare it yet since I don’t know any other sand, but my hamster loves his sand bath :)

Wouldn't order it again.
We ordered the 3-pack straight away, and after a few weeks, our hamster's fur completely changed – it became greyer and scruffier. We threw the rest away and bought a different, lighter sand from somewhere else. Such a shame.

Price, performance, quality
He's great (: I bought the other one from the start (: but my Teddy developed dry skin. For example, his skin texture has improved positively, the dry skin and flakes have almost disappeared, barely visible anymore. Thank you!

Not suitable for chinchillas!
Why the manufacturer calls this chinchilla sand and puts a chinchilla on the packaging is beyond me. Quartz sand is not suitable for chinchillas! You can read this in any guide, forum, or specialist literature.

Appaling
Within less than 24 hours the whole tray of this sand clumped together, I use it for my hamster as she likes to use it as a toilet, the sand i used to get would only have tiny clumps. I am really not impressed as i bought so much of it.

Clumpy sand
We bought the sand for our golden hamster, as he uses it in his toilet and loves digging in the sand bath. Unfortunately, the sand clumps entirely. The hamster pees in one small spot, and half of the sand bath ends up clumped together. He absolutely doesn’t like the sand either and has started peeing on the walls of his house since we began using this sand.
Therefore, we absolutely cannot recommend this sand and will go back to using the more expensive brands.

Very fine sand
Our golden hamster Henri loves bathing in the sand. Very fine! The price seems reasonable to us! We used to always buy a different brand, which was perfectly fine, but not as fine as this one. We'll stick with the newly chosen product now!
