I bought one of these for my cats which they love but sadly the bottom base where outside has rotted with the wet weather so now we cannot use it as it has completely collapsed everything else on it is ok so has not weathered very well

I've had the cat tree for quite some time now. Both the posts and the baskets are holding up well. But the base plate has completely disintegrated – underneath the plastic covering, it's just made of plywood... Now I’ll have to come up with something, as the cats absolutely love the tree. Perhaps the manufacturers should consider using a different base plate (weatherproof solid wood, plastic??), as that would make the product much more durable.

We’ve had the scratching post since early 2017. It’s on the balcony, covered, no rain gets to it, but it’s exposed to sunlight. In the first year, the sisal (well, it’s not really sisal, just some kind of plastic rope) started to unravel, and now the baskets are ruined. Overall, I find it a bit of a shame that the thing doesn’t last longer. I don’t think it’s exactly cheap, and two years is really quite short for the price.

I read the reviews about the instructions being less than useful and thought, I'll be fine. Well, I've made a total a*** of constructing this thing. The fixings provided are labelled with tiny reference numbers which I misread. Now a large bolt is stuck - totally stuck - where a small bold should have been and now I'm obviously short of a big bolt to complete the thing. The thing looks nice - but it will be useless if I can't get another bolt. Have emailed maker. Disappointed.

I’ve had this outdoor scratching post for several years now, and I know it only stays looking good for a limited time. It’s placed under a roof, but it still gets exposed to rain and strong sunlight. Because of this, the sisal becomes brittle within two to three years and needs to be replaced. Similarly, the Teflon cover doesn’t last very long either—especially when the cats test their claws on it. However, with staples, sisal, and outdoor fabric, you can refurbish it again. Otherwise, it’s great for the cats!

I have 8 cats and accordingly a lot of scratching posts. However, assembling this scratching post cost me endless nerves and time. The instructions are so bad... I tried this and that to see how it might fit together... In the end, I did manage to put up a scratching post, but it looks like the Leaning Tower of Pisa. I’ll be on holiday soon, and then I’ll tackle this sweaty task again.

I have never seen such a poor assembly manual for a self-assembly piece of furniture; the parts are far from fitting perfectly, and the structure wobbles as soon as one of our three furry friends sits in the upper third. However – the cats love it – hence three stars.

The fixing screws, as mentioned in a previous review. were wrong. There should have been 3 different types of fixings... i.e. 3 of one, 3 of another and a final 3, completely different from each other. We received 6 of the large and 3 of the small, but no middle size for the base. This punctured the base, as we had to use the large fixings, due to no base screws being supplied. We called Zooplus and they told us to try and source the missing fixings from a hardware store (impossible) in the UK! However they were very good with the problem and offered us a considerable discount on the product. The only other point is that the image on the website is, as i wanted it, with the "relax" (top item) on the other side to the construction diagram instructions, which cannot be changed and my cat now has to face the wall... as opposed to looking out over the garden. Yes you can twist the top "relax" item to face another direction, but the platform below makes it impossible for the cat to get in to at this angle? Good points are... very sturdy and apart from having to puncture the base, due to the wrong fixings supplied, it appears very durable in the rain.

I've had this tree for about 2.5 months now. It's placed rather unprotected on the balcony with evening sun. The base plate is really heavy, yet the tree wobbles, even when my cat tries to balance on the top. I didn't even assemble the topmost cave because I was only looking for something up to medium height anyway. The lounging platform is great for the cats to sit and keep watch. I still had a head screw lying around. The fabric is easy to wipe clean. Rainwater collects in the bowl, probably because of the fabric, so hardly any cat ever lies in it. The cave isn't used at all. Still, I'm satisfied with the tree so far. There are only a few outdoor models available, and the price was also a deciding factor.

I have spent several hours trying to put this together. I have bought two other indoor trees for my cats from Zooplus and would rate both 5 stars. Neither of them had great instructions but the instructions could be followed. With this unit it appears that the instructions are reversed and some of the connections shown upside down. The components of the tree are fantastic, really good quality and well made but the fixings to join it together are poor along with incorrect instructions. How it weathers in the British Climate is yet to be seen but we have had some torrential rain over the last couple of days and the rain sheets off the fabric well except for in the two enclosed houses where a wipe over with a cloth is required. If the company could look again at the fixings it provides, this it could be a 5 star product.
