Insights from real Pet Parents

AI-generated summary based on reviews added by customers

Cats adore this playful house, enjoying both the scratching surface and cozy hideaway. However, assembling can be a hassle due to flimsy plastic connectors, leading to concerns about durability and safety. Some cats have managed to dismantle it quickly, raising worries about swallowing parts. Despite these issues, many find it a charming addition, with cats happily lounging and playing, making it a delightful spot for feline fun.

Awful

I know its only cheap but it doesnt even fit together, the plastic thats badly made it doesnt screw together, straight in bin unfortunately

Poorly designed

Looks cute but the plastic fasteners take forever to put together then fall apart as soon as the house is touched. Very unsafe for the cats!

My cats love it

I have three playful cats. And all of them are enjoying this little thing. All been in, scratched around in it and fell asleep. Easy to put together. The plastic bolts are a bit fiddly but, once you realise that one is a front one is a backend then they keep in easily. Had it a few days now so so far so good or still standing and as is.

Disappointing little house

Not very strong Lugs difficult to use to assemble & not the correct amount supplied

Poor quality

Don't waste your money. The plastic things do not clip together, they just keep popping off, even when applied using pliers to squeeze them on tight. Very poor quality & very dangerous as pet could swallow the plastic fixings. Product needs to be recalled ASAP.

Plastic screws don't fit

The house is great and my cat wanted to get in it before I'd built it - which unfortunately took ages because the plastic screws do not fit together. After hurting my hands trying to force them to screw in, I ended up taping it together with parcel tape. I've bought these in the past without this problem, so I presume there's been an issue with the manufacturer of these screws. As it is, it's unfortunately not fit for purpose. I would buy in the future if this could be sorted.

NOT SUITABLE FOR KITTENS.

I found kittens chewing the plastic fasteners they had managed to pull out. After fastening them together again. The same happened again. It went in the BIN

Cat house

Lovely cat house, easy to assemble , cute ,quite sturdy with big cats .would definitely recommend

Very cute but not practical

The house design was very cute but it broke within 24 hours. It’s held together by plastic plugs which when our cat jumped on the (flimsy) roof, came apart and went flying in different directions. Luckily we found all the parts before one of the cats did. Our cats weigh 3.9kg for reference

Unsafe!

Do not buy it is unsafe! The fasteners do not pop together like they are supposed to! You can buy Garfield ones like this that are safe at B&M stores.

Great

Cats love this house and they love the scratch board.

Construction is impossible

The house looks good & my cat loves the scratching base but the assembly is impossible because of the badly made plastic ‘screws’ that hold the house together. Badly moulded, and not fit for purpose. Makes it quite an expensive flat scratching surface.

Purr House.

Bubba, loves his cat house. If he is not purring... he is snoring. 😻

Nice addition

Plastic bits are fiddly and not great but I think it’s a great product and fairly priced. My cats don’t really pay it much attention but they may in future

You get what you pay for!

Good size. Very fiddly to put together and it worried me that it’s held together by little plastic poppers, I was constantly checking they hadn’t come off as I was concerned my cat would swallow them! Although my cat loved this toy it only lasted a week, he very quickly ripped it to shreds so I had to throw it away. Even though it was cheap it wasn’t worth the money or the mess! Just give your cat a cardboard box!!

My cat loves it

My cat loves a scratching post and bought this as a treat for him, he goes hell for leather scratching it, absolutely loves it and is currently sleeping in his little house.

Both my cats love this house and opens both ends

Purchased two of these one as a present for a fiends cat and one for my two. My two love it and one loves to sleep in it as well. It is good that it opens both ends as if the second cat goes in the other one can get out easily. My grandson had no problem putting them together and they seem quite sturdy. My friends cat also liked hers and using the scratch bottom. Would buy again and recommend

Cats love it but the plastic connectors are rubbish.

My cats were excited watching me try to assemble it but their patience ran as thin as mine did with the fiddly plastic connectors that don't connect properly. The bottom ones are also located just far enough in that you can't use standard pliers on them to try to force the connection which added to the frustration. For the price, I guess it's ok but I would have preferred to have paid a couple of quid more for connectors that do the job.

XL Home Cat House with Scratching Mat

The cat loves it, but unfortunately the mounting with those plastic 'screws' is terrible. If the cat jumps out of the house with a bit more force, the mounting gives way and the whole thing falls apart.

Choking hazard

The plastic holders don’t fit together at all and hold really badly. Huge risk of choking!!!

Waste of money

Total disaster. The house fell apart after just one day. It's really hard to put together. Those plastic screws are a joke. They don't fit at all and won't screw in. In the end, everything comes loose and the house tears apart. For this kind of money, the quality is zero. It's unstable. The free one I once got with pellet from Castbest was miles better and lasted for months.

Good value

My cat loved it and it lasted about 1.5 years! Pretty good for a paper toy. I'll buy it again.

Small house

As soon as I set it up, my Tessie took to it right away, scratching her claws on it and then lying down. No more random cardboard boxes lying around!

Mounting issue

Is it possible to install these fasteners without losing your mind??? Terrible, in the end I just glued them together. At least they weren't expensive 😅

Better than the last one

Hello, this is the second one I’ve ordered. Rea didn’t realise I was throwing out her old, chewed-up hut. The finishing on this one is better, and the clips fit more easily than the first version. However, there’s a persistent smell of ink or something—I’m not sure what—that’s quite bothersome, especially knowing how sensitive cats’ noses are. I hope it fades over time.

Delivers what the price promises

What more can you expect for the price? Our cat loves it. We're very careful with the plastic studs. But if the cat's happy, we're happy.

Perfect for a cat with hypoplasia

My cat isn’t able to jump onto vertical scratching posts, and those cardboard ones on the floor weren’t good for him either because he kept falling over. With this one, he’s constantly running around, sleeping, and scratching. It’s honestly a miracle – the first scratching post in 10 years that he can use properly. The only downside is that the little buttons holding the walls together come undone easily – I’m giving a minus for that because every day I have to look for those buttons around the room.

Didn't even last a day

Every other one of the "screws" was unusable. The roof tipped over after a few hours and now it's just a scratch pad. I wouldn't buy it again.

Would be 5 stars if spare parts were available

Great scratching post that also doubles as a bed: my cats are happy to use it for sleeping too. It would be perfect if it were possible to get a replacement for the inside part of the little house, without having to buy a whole new one every time. Even though the price is very reasonable, it feels like a waste to have to throw the whole thing away just to replace the scratching part.

Winter Scratcher

Low-quality item. It gets deformed straight away and the hooks come off. I'm not satisfied at all.

Value for money

Value for money Handy little cabin/scratching post, perfect to take along when you’re renting a place for the holidays. When folded, it doesn’t take up any space in the car. It’s quite spacious—my cat is big (7kg) and was able to stretch out inside and use it to scratch.

It's quite sturdy

It's quite sturdy, with plenty of space and good rotation. The only weak point is the roof joint in the centre—it could use more reinforcement.
