Siberian cat loves this
My cat loves this food and the Applaws chicken wet food, especially the pouches. She has never had any health problems with it, and had no problems changing over. She is also the most gorgous sweet cat and purrs greatly when the food is being got ready.

Great On Paper...
... But not so appealing to the cats. We have a ragdoll girl who loves James Wellbeloved biscuits and so I thought I would try and order this food as it sounds so much better than JWB. I also ordered miamor and applaws tins and she doesn't like any of them. One of the other cats loves the applaws tins but even the dog doesn't hoover up the spilled biscuits (and she will sit at the side of the bowl waiting for a spill of jwb)

A great food.
I think it's sad that this food has had a lot of bad press, it's a really high quality good food.
One of the few grain free foods with a high meat content.
In my top 3 favourite dry foods.
Recommended.

Pleased
We have a bengal female (neutered) and a cornish rex male. Although the transition was a little harsh (diarrhea and vomiting) they both like it and are in perfect health. They don't have the bad breath they had with royal canin dry food and are in perfect shape!
I'd recommend to do a very slow, progressive transition (a week, a week and a half) if you are passing from another brand to this one so their organisms can get used to this new food.

first rate dry cat food
I have two cats, one had intially been diagnosed with diabetes mellitis eighteen months ago. His diabetes was very difficult to control and subsequently he was diagnosed with acromegaly - a tumour on the pituitory gland which amongst other things causes the animal to be diabetic. The vets recommended Royal Canin diabetic cat food but this contains far too much cereal based carbohydrates which actually caused him to need even more insulin. I researched low carb non-cereal foods and came up with Applaws chicken and salmon. He had been free feeding on Royal Canin Fit 32 dry food since a kitten but was often sick through binge eating. I put him initially on a wet food jelly based diet as gravy also contains carbohydrates. He then had four weeks of radiotherapy and I have been moving him to more dry applaws cat food ever since although I am not allowing free feeding as I wanted him to lose a kilo which he did. As a result of the combination of dietery change and radiotherapy, three months after it finished in March 2010 he is now off insulin altogether and my other cat tolerates Applaws very well too.

Only Cereal Free Cat Food. Great if your cat is allergic to all cereals.
I used to use Royal Canin Sensitivity control SC31. My cat was diagnosed at a very young age with his sister to be allergic to all cereals (wheat, maize, rice, soya, etc), rabbits, tuna, white fish, etc.
SC31 ingredients were changed last year, and I had to search for a cereal free dry food for my cat. Applaws was, and still is, my only option.
I am lucky my cat loves it and never seems to get tired of it. He has been on this diet for over a year now, no problems observed. It's the best smelling dry cat food, so your cat will be unlikely to get bad breath. He doesn't bleed when I stoke him now, or lose loads of fur from stoking. Nor is he having diarrhoea.

Wonderful Food!
One of my cats was always being sick after eating. I tried various different foods, and some helped to reduce the frequency, but non stopped her being sick. She has no medical conditions. Since putting her onto Applaws, she has not been sick once! Not suprising, as cats are pure carnivores, and not designed to process cereal or starches in their diet. Would highly recommend this food to any one who has a fussy/overwieght cat. Applaws is designed to compliment a cats digestive system, and it works! She is even losing weight:-)

Excellent food, change over gradually
As a vet I have waited for a food like Applaws dry for many years. I have been recomending to my clients for over 6 months since I read about it on Dr Diane Addies website. Just remember to change over to this food slowly (over 7 days)otherwise you will get diarrhea. Remember, your cat has been used to very little meat in his current dry food.

Loose stools
Thought it would help with loose stools as Orijen was a bit too rich for my cats.
This made no difference and there has been recent bad press too.
I have now discovered Royal Canin Sensible 33 which has rave reviews - so if anyone has cats with loose stools, check it out.
Apart from that, no one can beat Orijen or Applaws in terms of pure meat content and no animal meals and byproducts.

Beware! Made my cat sick, too!!!
I have never written a review on this website but I feel compelled in this case.
I have two young neutered male cats; one 18 months and one 8 months old. They are normally fed on a diet of Orijen dry food during the day (free feeding) and a small portion of wet food when I go home from work. Both have tried and loved Applaws wet food. I was over the moon when Applaws start introducing their own brand of dry food, thinking that it would be of the same high quality as their cans. However, after switching my cat from Orijen dry food to Applaws for about 2-3 months, they start to vomit on a daily basis. Instead of hairballs, they vomit up clear liquid and undigested food. It took me a long time to figure out what was wrong until I took them off Applaws and the vomiting stopped straight away. I am now left with 5kg of Applaws dry food and lots of disappointment.
I have noticed similar incidents from other reviewers. Please do not ignore this problem - my cats were not sick straight away but only start to show symptoms after 2-3 months.

Unsure
Trying out variour top quality cat foods and came accross Applaws. Looks were brilliant. BUT made both my cats very very sick. ( I was blaming the dog :( )
I then realised it was the cats as the lumps of orange that were in the tin food were undigested.
I am not left with 24 Tins and don't want to throw away as it was expensive. Shame.
PPS I did buy 4 individual cans from supermarket 1st.
Both cats now been revereted back to Royal Canin.

Technically the best dry cat food, however, it gave my cats loose stools
On paper this is unquestionably the best cat food currently on the market. However, I found that it gave both my cats (Bengal and Egyptian Mau) loose stools. When given to my sister's 2 moggies, their stools also became watery.
I am now going back to Orijen (which on paper is the 2nd best dry cat food on the market).

not good
This gave my cats diarrhea and my friends cats too. It's a shame as the wet food is fine for my cats. I've recently heard some controversial information about this product. Obviously can't repeat it here, but google "Applaws dry cat food problem" and you'll find the information on a breeders website.

Great in principal
My cat was on Orijen, and he loved it but wanted to change to a UK based food (Orijen is from Canada!). Unfortunately despite the fact the ingredients are very similer, and indeed I can't taste the difference (I know TMI) have had to give up as my cat has started to vomit water alot. It even upset the dogs tummy when he had some. Back to Orijen then!

Life saver
We have two siamese with very sensitive tummies and we have tried every single brand on the market and this is the first which they don't get sick on- probably due to the lack of cereals. Its not their favorite but it stays put- worth every penny!

Very high quality food
I have a bengal and a sphynx, my sphynx has irritable bowel, this food is much better for him because its not full of fillers and cereals which he can't tolerate. He is better with wet food and this is as close as it gets to wet food that I can leave down for them. My bengal wasn't sure at first but they both love it now. It is strong smelling, but I don't mind that as I know its good food for them and with it being 80 percent meat it's bound to smell stronger than other dry food which is full of fillers. Its definately worth it for their health.

They Love It
My cats were fed on all different foods, James Well Beloved,Iams, science plan, but they always preferred meat & ate tons of Sheba. But when I intoduced the dry Applaws they loved it. as I have multiple cats this one is fantastic for all of them. My male cat has an irritable bowel and this seems to have sorted that out. I am very pleased with this food, and rate it as excellent.

Gobbled Up!
I initially purchased a small bag to try it out because one of my cats was diagnosed with cancer, and this is one of the very, very few foods that is high in good quality meat proteins - vital nutrition for cancer patients.
Thankfully both my cats adored this food and I am now switching to this. My cats were on Hills Senior Light and James Wellbeloved Senior (mixed together), which they both enjoy, I just need to give my cancer kitty the best nutrition I can find for him...and I think this is it!

Best Dry Food Available in UK...
...well, that's what one of my cats thinks! I don't like to feed dry food due to the lack of actual meat in most brands (cats are carnivores afterall) but have one cat who resists all wet foods. At first he loved Orijen when that became available in the UK, but now prefers Applaws. The reason some cats prefer the lesser quality dry foods, made mostly from cereals and vegetable proteins is that they spray the cereal with animal fats to make it appetizing to cats - it's the equivalent of junk food for kids - and kids don't know what's best for them either do they?
Also, it's not true that high protein diets are bad for cats kidneys - it's low quality proteins that are bad for cats kidneys. It's puts more strain on a cats kidneys to process vegetable proteins than meat proteins. The UK seems to lag behind in animal nutrition but at least some better dry foods are available here now - and my cat thinks this is THE best.

Best Dry Food Around
I have changed from feeding my two BSH cats James Wellbeloved to this Applaws Dry. Both cats love it, but that is not enough a reason to feed them any food (cats like Whiska/Felix too after all). The most important point is that the content of the food is extremely good and healthy for cats. Highly recommended.
