Concept for Life Veterinary Diet Gastrointestinal

Cats no longer tolerate this food following change in recipe. Introducing the new food slowly also unsuccessful. Caused diarrhoea and litter box avoidance.

I've been buying this food religiously for the past 2 years for my 9 cats as one has IBD and it was fabulous. Why change the ingredients? My IBD cat has a really bad tummy now and he's really gassy with runny poops. Looking at other reviews this was a really big mistake to make as sales will slump!

I don't understand how they can change the recipe so much and still call it the same food. It now just has dried chicken instead of hydrolysed poultry which is terrible for many cats with IBD. We tried to introduce the new food a few pieces of kibble at a time and immediately our cats poo became very wet and sticky. After no more than a teaspoon of the new recipe over two days we stopped giving it to him and still a week later he is very gassy and his poo is still sloppy. Please change back!

My cat has IBD and not only was the old food good for his stomach but he really enjoyed it. After just a few pieces of the new food recipe his stomach be ame very inflamed and he had terrible diarrhea. It took so long to find the food and I'm very concerned about trying to find a new one that works. I'd happily pay more for the old re ope if it was a cost decision!

My cat with IBD has been on this food without any issues for over a year. This new recipe made her vomit excessively, even with gradual introduction. I wish I bought the smallest bag. I now have to trial a new gastro food for her.

Changed recipe without warning to completely different ingredients meaning my poorly cat cat no longer eat this food. It was the only food he could eat and now I am at a loss.

The new recipe has caused havoc to my cat’s digestion, his litter tray looks like a bowl of chocolate milk :(

My cat relied on this food as a hydrolysed protein and it was the only food he could eat. The new recipe is no longer hydrolysed and he has a chicken allergy. Completely changing the recipe of a food that many owners rely upon for cats with IBD is extremely poor

The new recipe gave my cat such a bad stomach, please could you return to the original as its gastro food and it took a long time to find a dry food right for my cat .

The new recipe has a high % of corn. This made my poor cat have explosive diarrhea. Corn should not be included in cat food.

I should clarify that my cat is a very fussy eater. He's very food motivated, and when he finds a food he likes, he won't stop demanding more. I'm sure most cats enjoy this just fine, but my little Biscuit hated it, and I'm reviewing on his behalf. My last cat Betty died of kidney disease, and she was a big fan of Concept for Life's renal range.

My cat has gastrointestinal problems and I was hoping this food will be good for her. Big mistake! She is vomiting more than before from this food.

Completely disappointed. My cat has had an illness, an IBD, for 3 years. We tried lots of gastrointestinal kibble that didn’t work, but this was the only one that really did. Since they changed the recipe, my cat has started getting sick again... I won’t be ordering Concept for Life Gastro-Intestinal kibble anymore!

For years I gave this to my cats because they liked eating it and, above all, tolerated it really well. But with the new recipe, they won't eat it anymore. The new packaging is also a disgrace. Why change everything that was good?

Disgusted, my cat used to love the kibble with rice, but now with the new recipe containing maize, he won’t eat it anymore. At the same time, I don’t want maize in my cats’ food either, so I’m leaving this brand—disappointed.

Previously, my cat had loose stools. That stopped with this brand. Until now, since the formula has changed. It's truly awful. It was a huge struggle to find food that didn't cause diarrhoea. We were so happy. Now, unfortunately, the trouble is back again.

Don't buy this as an alternative. Since switching to this other bag, they've had diarrhoea. Other causes have been ruled out.

I agree with recent reviews from other countries. They've changed the formula for the worse, in a kibble that used to be much better than other high-end veterinary brands. My cat had been eating it for years for IBD and it worked perfectly. The kibble looks similar. Less rice, which is good, but now it has corn. It causes diarrhoea, even though we switched over gradually from the previous bag as usually recommended. The taste is worse, she doesn't like it as much. They couldn't even bother to put a resealable closure on the bag. I wouldn't even donate it, it makes sensitive cats sick. Straight to the bin.

The old formula was perfect. I was able to keep 3 problems under control with it: diarrhoea, vomiting, and even urinary issues (stress-related urination). I don't know why such a drastic change was necessary. But it caused more harm than before. Now there is diarrhoea and vomiting several times a day, and in large amounts. I gave this packaging a chance twice, from my most recent order. I'm angry because the quality has deteriorated terribly. 10 kg of this packaging is going straight in the bin. Plus, my cats' health is at risk too...

We got on well with this food for years and were happy to have finally found something that worked for us. Since the new product design, not only is the packaging worse, but even worse: the food is no longer tolerated. Now we're back to dealing with constant diarrhoea like before. Really annoying! We'd rather pay more than accept poorer quality for the same price! And on top of that, two bags straight in the bin. Well done.

The proportion of rice has drastically decreased (by 73%) and has been replaced with corn, while the amount of plant proteins (corn gluten) has increased, and the hydrolysed animal proteins have decreased. Several important ingredients have been removed (inulin, algae/DHA, lutein, egg), and the vitamin and mineral content has significantly dropped (iron, zinc, copper, selenium, taurine). There is MOS and FOS, but at a very low level (0.1%), so they only play a supplementary role and don’t make up for the reduction in rice. I’ve switched to something else, the quality has really gone downhill.
