Applaws Adult Chicken

My cat will eat anything but with the chicken he will eat it but then not long afterward he is sick. He is fine with the chicken with extra salmon. Having to throw 2kg away.

Bought chicken with extra salmon for my Maine coon cat. Had this brand previously before with no issues and cat loved it. This bag of cat food has such a strong smell it is overwhelming and of course what goes in has to come back out! And it is putrid! My cat actually looks ill and now has litter box issues!! Changing to another brand, will not risk the health of my cat.

My cats used to love this food ,but now point blank refuse to eat it or go anywhere near it . The kibbles are darker, courser and have a very strong odour now. zooplus customer service was excellent, arranged a full refund of the purchase price . However, Applaws contacted me asking for the batch number to investigate my concerns, but 4 weeks later I haven't heard back from them . Guess I won't ???

Bough a 7.5 kg bag about 10 weeks ago. Everything was fine until last week when my Cat refused to eat it. Prior to purchasing the larger bag my cat has eaten both the Applaws Chicken and the Chicken & salmon without any issues.My Cat will eat just about anything and has never refused any cat food in 7 years so first I though she was sick etc but that is not the case. So now I'm left with over 4 kg of food my cat will not eat... so much for buying 7.5 kg "economy packs"

My 2 cats have been fed on Applaws for the past few years and loved it. I received my usual order of 4 bags a few weeks ago and both my cats will not touch it! The smell is strong, unpleasant and really unappetising. It used to have a lovely meaty smell. I'm now trying to find another brand that is grain free, but without loads of weird and wonderful ingredients in it for my IBS Maine Coon. Please change back to your old recipe Applaws :-(

Something is wrong with new Applaws dry food. My cats refuses to eat it and it's smells really BAD!

My car has eating Applaws happily for the last three years. Just restocked and my cat refuses to eat any of it. Now realise the recipe has been changed. Why? Applaws could have made customers aware so we could try it first. I've now got over 7 kilos, which I will give to Blue X. Contacted Applaws customer service but did not receive the courtesy of a reply.. Will never buy their products again.

Our cat has eaten this for years, his favourite food. I've just received a new supply, and Applaws have changed the recipe. Cat just sniffs it and walks away. Why were new packs not marked, and why were we not given the chance to test this food with small sample packs. I'm now stuck with 7 kilos of unwanted food, Give to Blue Cross, hope that some cats will eat it. Won't ever buy Applaws products again.

Bought the trial pack and my cats wolfed them down. Ordered 7.5kg of the chicken applaws and when I opened the bag it had a really strong smell the shape of them was different and the colour a lot darker...I had a feeling the product wasn't the same as trial pack. Biggest sign was that my cats wouldn't touch it which they have never turned down any dry food before. Don't buy based on the trial pack...they are either in the middle of changing the recipe? It's a bad batch? Or they are trying to dupe people. Can't fault zooplus on there refund policy top notch customer service :)

My two cats will eat anything that is put in from of them but with applaws chicken it isn't the case. They will refuse eating it and I don't know why, I guess it is not made to please every cat taste buds. I would like to mention that the smell is overwhelming, making the whole kitchen stink. If you want to try this brand, I would advice to buy a small packet first, I made the mistake of buying a 2kg bag. I Hope this review helps.

My cat loved the chicken and salmon too but now wont touch it with a barge pole and l am left with a six plus kilo bag! 😕😡

My two cats had been eating this happily since I adopted them a couple of years ago (so did my late cat) and I couldn't understand why they started refusing it recently. I thought they were being fussy, but they've lost weight and are often so hungry. Now that I've read other customers' reviews regarding a change in recipe, I understand their sudden reluctance. What a disappointment! They absolutely loved their Applaws dry food. I should add that this review is for the "chicken with extra salmon;" my cats still seem happy to eat the "chicken with extra duck." If this should change, I shall have to look for an alternative; what a shame.

Totally agree with everyone else, why did Applaws change the recipe? Our cats loved it previously but now refuse to eat the Chicken version. Great service from zooplus though & we've swapped to the Chicken & Salmon which looks the same as the previous Chicken (ie larger pieces) & they love it. Let's hope Applaws don't change this flavour too!

My cat refuses to eat the new recipe after 2 years of no problems with Applaws, very disappointed. Not just the taste but the kibble size is smaller and broken into very small pieces.

My cat has been eating this for years, very happily, but now he refuses to heat it. Considering that he eats anything we put in front of him, wet or dry, this must be really disgusting to his tastebuds! Very disappointed!

Much like everyone else here, very disappointed with the recipe change. My cats used to love it, and now are very indifferent. Wish they'd notified of the change, because the just swindled me out of money for a 2kg bag.

My cat used to love this, she'd lick her bowl clean and beg for more. However, I've just taken delivery of a new bag and she will barely eat this. It smells different, looks completely different and has given her diarrhoea. So disappointed! I will have to find a new brand. Zooplus have been great with dealing with this though (5*s to them for their customer service!!)

Our abyssinians used to love this but at some point in the last 4 months the recipe has changed (it smells different, is more of an irregular pellet shape and is darker). This has resulted in my cats developing diarrhea as we have transitioned between bags, and they refuse the kibble for several days before giving in and eating it. Will be switching to another high quality dry food as this is too much of a lottery.

My Bengal has had really bad diarrhea on this food. So bad I have had to starve her for a few days. I thought I'd give this food a try as it sounds great when you read the ingredients. Sadly most of this product is now in my bin so I wouldn't recommend this product.

Believing the hype & wanting to buy British, I bought this for my two rescue cats. However, one of the cats had poorly formed stools ie loose, the other frequently regurgitated stinking fluid & partially undigested applaws biscuits after eating this. In both cases from the beginning I noted particularly foul smelling stools with this food - this being especially noticeable since they're both indoor cats. I've now switched over to Orijen cat & kitten dry, which is mixed with Bozita tetra pak wet food. WOW! What an improvement in the stool department, with no sign of looseness, no vomiting plus a massive reduction in litter tray odour. They're also enjoying their food more too, with much greater variation in taste. This combination I find is good value, with the many benefits.

Both our cats vomited the food right from the start. Such a shame!

My cats loved this food, but without any notice the pieces are now only half the size and the girls don’t want it anymore. So now we have to look for an alternative. Changing cat food rarely makes sense.

I've been buying this dry food for many years, but suddenly the pieces are smaller and darker than before, and my cats are having terrible stomach issues and don’t really want to eat it anymore. Nowhere does it say the recipe has changed, but something must have happened. I have two bags from different shops and both have the same problem. I’ll stop buying this now, really disappointed.
