Insights from real Pet Parents

AI-generated summary based on reviews added by customers

This litter is a hit for its excellent clumping and minimal tracking, making it a clean choice for furry paws. The scent, however, is a mixed bag; some find it pleasant, while others struggle with its intensity and ammonia odour after use. Despite being eco-friendly and dust-free, the price and bag size are drawbacks. Overall, it’s a promising option with room for improvement in scent and odour control.

Clean litter

The bad reviews for this litter seems to be people complaining about the urine smell. You really need to take the urine clumps out every day and not leave it. Cats are clean animals. It literally takes two minutes to do it. You flush your toilet reguarly so why not clean the tray ?. This litter is really good. Smells nice and has very low tracking. Use it properly. Keep your cat litter tray clean every day and it's no problem. Would definitely buy again.

Great Tofu Litter

Genuinely don’t understand why it has so many bad reviews as I’ve been using this litter for years for my 2 indoor cats and we’re happy with it. There’s no lingering smell as long as you keep it clean (I mean it’s cat litter whatever you use there will be some smell after your cat does their business), clumping is very good & tracking is manageable compared to other litters. I also used the katkin tofu litter but there’s literally no real difference between the two.

Quick ammonia smell

Initially I thought the consistency was good and it does clump very well but the ammonia seps through all of the litter after even one use . I wouldn’t recommend I won’t be buying again.

Easy & convenient

Makes cleaning the litter tray so easy.

Always nice fragrance

This is another very good litter, beating traditional clay/bentonite ones in my opinion. Smells lovely (the cats don't seem fussed either way about that) it binds well, it is non-dusty, doesn't seem to trail and lasts pretty well. I'll keep buying this (provided the price is sensible) as it's nice to be able to stick to something that I'm happy with (after a lot of trial & error).

So far so good

I wanted to try tofu pellets after reading about them but some other reviews had said this sometimes goes sludgy, which is a common issue I've found with clumping litter. My solution has been to put a bottom layer of the paper pellets we were using before and then a top layer of this. The cats don't seem to mind and when I scoop off the top layer it is easy. It is also easy when I do a full change with no residue on the bottom. I think I will keep doing this combination .

Superior litter

I thought I tried all clumping litters until a neighbour mentioned it casually. I thought I misheard "tofu" but looked on Zooplus and found it. Have never looked back. Barely trails unlike other litters. I love it.

Scratchy and poor value

Very small amount in the bag. One bag barely does a litter tray. Scratchy on paws. Makes massive clumps. With two kittens am guessing a bag will last 4 days. Madness!

Nice products

I hope they will have a scent free one in the future, I don't like to use litter with scents. This is an overall nice product, recommended.

Don’t buy

As the previous comments mentioned - after a few days of use, it smells very bad….. unlike the other tofu litter which doesn’t smell ( unless after 2 weeks)

It smells really bad

The first purchase was good and so I reordered. This time it has a very strong ammonia smell spreading through the room after my cat pee’d. Very disappointed.

Smells vile

I like this type of litter. The expensive brand kxtkxn is priced outrageously and I needed to find something cheaper. I like the clumping. It dosnt melt and then harden into my cats fur on her feet or track like other eco litter ive tried. But the smell, personally i like vanilla smells but there's something else in it that makes it bad and once you've got cat pee and poop smells in in there its absolutely foul. It would need fully replaced every 2 days to make it usable. A real shame.

Eye watering smell

I had been using this litter since December and initially it was great, clumped well, didn’t track as much as other litters and had a pleasant smell. HOWEVER the most recent batch delivered left the most unpleasant eye watering smell after the cats had urinated that we thought there was something up with the cats. We tried a different brand of tofu litter and smell is totally masked again so think Tigerino must have changed the formula. Very disappointing as originally was great.

Sadly it's a no from me

I was initially impressed with this litter. I thought I'd found a better alternative to the Catit pea cat litter I usually use because the slightly larger and heavier pellets hardly track at all. So definitely full stars for tracking. Although it smells nice initially, it very quickly starts to smell strongly of ammonia after only a few days, despite removing pee clumps. so it doesn't stop odours. One bag filled my Modkat litter box and lasted a while without the need to top up also clumps well.

Smells great, easy to dispose

The milky scent hides cat urine perfectly, it’s very easy to scoop up as it clumps easily and you can put it down the toilet. Just needs dividing into smaller chunks somehow so that it passes through the initial part of the toilet

Best litter

Checks all the boxes for me, clumping is fantastic, almost no dust, smells lovely, minimal tracking and lasts a long time

Clumps Well but Doesn’t Absorb Odour

This litter clumps well, however, unfortunately it is not very good at absorbing odours. I would be going back to Katkin tofu litter.

Not Good

The pellets are very large/long, which makes it difficult to sift. The clumps are very firm but kind of gooey and weld themselves to the sides/bottom of the litter tray and then stick to the scoop. Because the clumps are so solid, they don't disintegrate in the loo and threatened to block it so after trying to flush two, I had to set up a bin for the litter instead (when I bought it because it was advsertised as flushable) The smell of the tray was awful after only two days.

Very pleased with Tofu as is Edgar

I have two cats both with very fluffy paws .Only Edgar uses litter tray his brother has never used litter box in his life.As a kitten he went anywhere but he taught himself to use shower stall next to the toilet sounds awful but easy to flush away .The tofu is creamy white colour and smells of white chocolate .Hardly any odour tracking or sticking to fur.It is so different to my usual.I am very pleased with it.I have four other bags to use but I will re order this when they are finished

Tigerino

This was my first time using tofu litter. It clumps brilliantly, minimal dust and doesn't track but I find it doesn't cover up the urine odour very well. I also find the milky scent unpleasant. I wouldn't normally anything fragranced but this seems to be the only tofu litter Zooplus sell.

Wonderful

So far, this is the best litter I've tried. Since it's not sand, there are no residues left outside the litter box, and the smell is perfectly controlled. I used to use Tijeriño clumping sand before.

Highly recommended

This litter is really excellent—it holds bad odours very well, lasts a long time, is organic, and I dispose of it in the compost bin. I haven't found anything unusual about it.

Not the right one for us

We’ve tested this litter for three weeks now and won’t be using it any further. It does have some good qualities, like dissolving well in water, not being dusty, and clumping nicely. However, our cats don’t bury their business in it at all anymore, and two of them avoid it so much that they’ve actually become less clean rather than use the litter. I suspect this might be due to the chemical smell. It really does stink quite unpleasantly.

Really good tofu litter!

The clumps form well and are easy to clean. The litter also produces very little dust, which is a big plus for someone with allergies. 💚 The milk scent is pleasant and not too strong for my nose. Even the cats accepted the litter straight away. Seems very promising and will definitely become a staple for us! 😸😸😸

Very good...

I think this is a good product. It’s not dusty, absorbs odours well, and the cats don’t track it all over the flat. You’ll need a scoop with large holes for it.

Impressed!!!

A few months ago, I started a little experiment and gradually swapped out the litter in all 5 cat toilets, so the cats could choose for themselves. By now, all of them have been changed and I’ve decided to get a subscription! The issues that are mentioned here quite often, in my opinion, can simply be solved by using more litter (!!!) in the cat toilet. Just throw the clumps of litter in the organic waste bin. For me, only poo goes in the toilet. If at all! You can easily do without any 'aroma' as well!

Favourite

Doesn't dust up and doesn't stick to the paws as much as other types of litter. Clumps well, easy to clean. I've tried both scented and unscented, both are okay but I prefer the unscented one. The cats approve of both types of litter.

doesn't stick or clump properly

I just can't understand the hype about this litter. The only good thing is the smell – I actually find it really pleasant. However, I can't say how the scent holds up over time, because I removed the litter from the tray after just one day. It hardly clumps at all; instead, the pellets turn into a mush when they come into contact with liquid. Removing that from the tray is anything but pleasant. I'll stick with manioc.

Tigerino Milk Scents

I've been buying it for a few months now and I'm really happy with it. There's no more smell in the house and no dust either, unlike with silica. I also tried another type of tofu with lavender, and I'm happy with that from this brand too.

It's good. Of course, it could be better. It has a nice scent, but it becomes very fine after use.

The best litter

The only downside to this product is the price!! Other than that, I'm thrilled with how well it clumps, there's no smell from the poo, it doesn't mask the colour of the pee, and—super important for my sphynx cats—it doesn't release ANY dust. After a long time trying different ones, this is a 10 out of 10 for clumping litters.

Easy

I’m very satisfied, but my daughter says it doesn’t hold in the smell of faeces as well, since our Bengal cat doesn’t always cover them up. Otherwise, there’s less litter on the floor and it’s not messy. The tofu gives off a pleasant scent.

It was better at first, but it’s changed

Before, the smell of milk would linger for a while, but now it's awful, it smells like ammonia. If you only have one cat you might not notice it as much, but if you have three it's really obvious, and a few months ago this didn't happen—they've changed something.

The best litter, no doubt!

I've always used pellet litter, mainly because of respiratory issues, so I had no other choice. Out of all the options, this one is definitely the best in terms of quality, price, and durability. Obviously, it produces zero dust, controls odour well, and stays clean, which is a must. We use the milk-scented one, and we go through about one and a half bags for two very pee-prone cats every 8 days (they only eat wet food and drink around 100 ml of water separately). 100% recommended!!!

Only this one left

For us, there’s no better litter. No dust, it forms solid clumps, and the scent is great too. But most importantly: the cats get on well with it. Just one thing: In my opinion, it’s not suitable for disposal in the toilet. I can’t imagine it would flush away easily given how strongly it clumps.

Cat bladder infection

At first, I was satisfied with the product—little tracking and dust—but now I’m really having doubts... My cat has developed a bladder infection, and I’m reading on other forums that more cats have gotten bladder infections from using tofu pellets. Apparently, especially in warm weather, it becomes a breeding ground for bacteria because it’s plant-based. Have more people had this problem with their cats?
