Tigerino Plant-Based Litter Tofu Pellets - Milky Scent

I was initially impressed with this litter. I thought I'd found a better alternative to the Catit pea cat litter I usually use because the slightly larger and heavier pellets hardly track at all. So definitely full stars for tracking. Although it smells nice initially, it very quickly starts to smell strongly of ammonia after only a few days, despite removing pee clumps. so it doesn't stop odours. One bag filled my Modkat litter box and lasted a while without the need to top up also clumps well.

This was my first time using tofu litter. It clumps brilliantly, minimal dust and doesn't track but I find it doesn't cover up the urine odour very well. I also find the milky scent unpleasant. I wouldn't normally anything fragranced but this seems to be the only tofu litter Zooplus sell.

The clumping is good for pee but not for poop. It cannot cover the smell for poop, the smell lingers for a few hours even though the litter tray is in the cupboard. Did not have this problem before. My cat struggled to bury afterwards as the pallets are quite big and a big spiky.

It doesn’t track much which is great and the litter itself smells good. However for covering smells I find that it’s not that great. The smell of the litter and my kittens smell doesn’t mix very well. I added more as I thought perhaps it needs to be buried deeper but the smell still lingers. Only when I have removed the poop does the smell go. It covers the pee smells great though.

Before, the smell of milk would linger for a while, but now it's awful, it smells like ammonia. If you only have one cat you might not notice it as much, but if you have three it's really obvious, and a few months ago this didn't happen—they've changed something.

At first, I was satisfied with the product—little tracking and dust—but now I’m really having doubts... My cat has developed a bladder infection, and I’m reading on other forums that more cats have gotten bladder infections from using tofu pellets. Apparently, especially in warm weather, it becomes a breeding ground for bacteria because it’s plant-based. Have more people had this problem with their cats?

It's not too bad because it clumps well, but after a week it starts to smell awful, like ammonia. If they could fix the smell issue once it's in use... because when you first open the box, it actually smells nice, kind of like milk.

I don’t know why it sticks, I thought it would be good, but I don’t like this, and it’s hard to clean if it always sticks.
