Cat's Best Original Cat Litter

At first I thought this was a great product as it was so light compared to my previous litters. However, I noticed quite quickly that it tracks everywhere, and on top of that, within a short space of time it turns to a type of sawdust consistency which makes it even worse. I am now looking for a better brand that does not have these problems.

My cats like this litter, but I am very disappointed with the packaging. The huge 40L bag had been put into a cardboard box with another item I had ordered. The weight of the bag of litter during transit broke the second item. This, in turn, tore open the paper bag the litter was in, and the litter was all over the place when I opened the cardboard box. I had to find an alternative container for the litter and then scoop all the contents from the torn bag into the new container. Not good enough.

Been using this for years now but the last few purchases have been really disappointing. Very find sawdust particles within the larger particles is to be expected but ive practically had 2 large litter trays of predominantly the sawdust stuff. Doesnt seem to like clumping any more either. Guess it's time to try a different brand 😕

Having previously bought World's Best I thought I would try this as it was cheaper. There is no odour, and it clumps pretty well but the grains are quite large (like wood pellets) and I found that it tracked everywhere even with a litter tray mat. Will be switching back to Worlds Best in future.

bought this as a cheaper alternative to WB. Had read a few reviews that said it tracked a little. This doesn't track a little, it tracks A LOT. nightmare trying to get this stuff from the cat's fur and our shoes and carpets. it does clump (eventually) but into massive mushy balls that are terrible to flush. does mask smell well though, silver linings and all that. never straying from WB again!

Just awful. It tracks all over the house. If you can bear that, it does clump well.

I am sure they have changed the consistency of Oko Plus since I last bought it. The granules seem quite hard and 'gritty', the clumping isn't as good as I remember and it is certainly not flushing away easily down the toilet. I keep finding a build up of cat litter in the u bend. A bit of a worry. So I've stopped flushing the pee clumps. When this bag is used up I am going back to World's Best. It may be more expensive but you get what you pay for.

I decided to try this litter because of the high rate of excellent reviews here and on the Finnish site, but wish I'd have bought the smaller bag so I could use it up quicker. Initially, the smell was horrible. The whole basement stunk terribly for over a week. Very strangely, the smell went away and hasn't recurred. The big problem now is the tracking. I've never had a problem with tracking with other litters in the many years I've had cats. This stuff is all over the basement and up the stairs; it's driving me crazy! I'm looking forward to when this bag is used up.

I was looking for a biodegradable alternative for World's best. My ragdoll is not a messy litter user and we have never had problem with litter getting everywhere in the flat until I bought this. It clumps ok, but not to solidly, so you need to watch out when scooping out and it trails TERRIBLY. I had cat litter all over the flat and all over the cat. He did not seem to mind too much, but I cannot vacuum everyday. It seems the difference in price means difference in quality

This litter does track everywere... I will look into an alternative as it´s driving us insane!!! It´s not great at keeping odours under control as well... Shame as it clumps very well and it´s natural.

If you have a long hair cat or semi long hair cat avoid. Due to the light weight of the litter it will stick to the cats coat and slowly be dispersed throughout the house. Smell is pleasant, and clumping is not bad, but this stuff tracks everywhere. Every time the cat uses the litter tray, wood chips are scattered all over the house. Based on other review's I didn't think it would be that bad. However the scale of the tracking means that we can't continue using it unless we vacuumed every day and swept after each use.

I tried this for three of my cats because it is cheaper than my usual brand. Supposedly able to be flushed away, even small amounts settle in clumps in the bottom of the toilet pan and it takes 2 flushes to get rid of them. Yes it clumps but in a gooey, sticky mess which sticks to the litter pan which has to be wiped clean. It is economic but not nearly so as The World's Best Cat Litter which is a far, far superior product and goes a long way whichever grade is used. That CAN be flushed away easily, clumps beautifully and leaves solid waste dry and easily scooped. I recommend The World's Best 'Green' as a slightly cheaper option if on a tight budget. Cat's Best Oko Plus has been a great disappointment and I would not buy again.

Recently tried this product as a cheaper alternative for a clumping litter. It does not clump very well. It looks like an oatmeal explosion occurred with in 5 feet radius of the litter box. 2 stars cause it does mask odour quite well.

Moved from Catsan because it wasn't doing enough to combat odour. This litter is excellent at stopping odours but tracks significantly more. The search goes on for the right balance!

This litter is quite granular in texture - a bit like the broken up bits of popcorn at the bottom of a bowl! It has great odour control and lasts a long time but spreads ALL around the house. I've never had this issue with any other litters and will go back to using Cat's Best Nature Gold which is a bit more expensive but stays in the litter tray.

I have an indoor cat and I have a preference to wood based litters. I was impressed with the way the cat litter clumped. However, I've given this a 2 star as I constantly had to sweep up the litter. I've reverted back to my previous brand which is cheaper and not as messy. Glad I tried it but sadly I won't be buying again.

Really not pleased, I always buy value litter and thought Id try this as bags only last us around 3-4days. WELL! someone wrote that this lasts 3 cats 8weeks...Hmmmm did they mean as they have outdoor cats?! Lasted me 3days! and tracked everywhere. I will stick to my value litter!

After reading how great the reviews for this product were, we bought a large bag for our 2 cats that share 1 box. It does not cover the smell as well as some other brands we have used. It goes everywhere too! I think it is because the litter is too light. Maybe my cats "kick" it too hard thus it went all around outside of their box and it stuck on their paws too. Will not try this again. Sorry!

I bought the 40L pack of this due to the excellent reviews but was very disappointed, it ends up all over the house because it sticks to their feet! It does soak up urine very well and is easy to clean but there's too much ends up on the floor and creates more work.

I tried this litter and my first impressions were very positive. Nice smell faintly of pine, so pure and clean and the litter clumps well. My cats did not like it at all. They "went" outside the litter tray which led my son to believe that the tray was dirty so each time he found an "accident" he changed the entire tray - we got through 40 litres in under 2 weeks! I changed to Extreme (sold on this site) cats loved it and no more accidents

I used to really like this litter and even recommended it to my friends and family, but lately it's just not possible anymore: it gives off a lot of dust that makes people cough, so it must be bad for cats too… and on top of that, my cats get it everywhere! I'm looking for an alternative… unless the many reviews similar to mine convince the manufacturer to go back to the previous version.

Terrible decline in quality. The manufacturer seems to think that nanoclumps count as clumping now. Time to look for an alternative.

I don't know what batch this is, or if it's a "new improved" version, but it doesn't clump. And this used to be our go-to litter, the one we could always rely on.

For some time now, the litter has stopped clumping like it used to, so dirty bits of litter end up in the tray, which just makes the tray smell. Instead of a nicely clumped ball, you just get a mushy mess. I’ve been ordering this litter for years, but now I’m simply disappointed, and I probably won’t order it again.

The fact that you can flush it down the toilet doesn't make up for how dusty it is (to the point it makes you want to cough), how much it spreads around the flat (even with a short-haired cat, it ends up in the laundry), and how poorly it absorbs smells, especially from faeces. I'm only giving it a second star because at least the urine clumps together nicely.

Hello, As far as the smell goes, it's fine. The clumping side works perfectly. What doesn't work is that my cats track it all over the house... I can't buy this litter again. Too bad.

It clumps the urine, the "rest" gets covered by the dust. After cleaning the toilet several times, the litter breaks down more and more... disappointed! And yes, dust settles like a fine blanket on everything around.

Same opinion for Cat's Best Original and Greenwoods plant fibre since they're basically the same litter. - Not economical at all! The bin fills up in 1.5 days instead of 3 with Biokat Organic Fibre Wood - Lots of dust/powder after... 2 days! (Not recommended for asthmatic cats) - Stays "dirty". The broken pellets are so big it's impossible to remove everything that's soiled... - Not much litter outside the tray, that's true, but it's replaced by dust... which is even worse.

After years of using Benek Corn, I thought I'd give this another try. Well, I sure found out. We were away on holiday for a week. My regular cat sitter immediately told me that the clumps with urine fall apart straight away and are really hard to scoop. On top of that, I'm really glad I had robot vacuum cleaners running daily both upstairs and downstairs. Both are completely full of granules. Even in the attic, the stuff is everywhere. And our litter boxes are downstairs... Awful stuff. Back to Benek!

I don’t know what happened to this cat litter. I’ve been ordering it for 8 years, but the last few orders just aren’t the same as before. It doesn’t clump as well as it used to, the clumps fall apart. I thought maybe it was just one bad batch, but unfortunately it’s happened several times now and it’s still the same problem. I think I’ll go back to Corn Car. That one clumps much better, even though it’s dustier.

Much more economical than bentonite litter. With diarrhoea, it could have been hidden under less than 20 litres and it still would have stunk. Generally an unpleasant smell, and if you have to change all the litter so often, it's not really economical or cheaper than others. Biggest negative: the cats don't like it at all. Even my expert digger tends to run away. With my long-haired cat, the litter always got stuck in her fur, very uncomfortable. I could flush the poo down the toilet, which was practical. The litter spreads around the flat...

I've been using this for years. Yes, it does scatter, but that's the case with any other litter too. Still, it seems like something has changed in the formula lately. It doesn't clump nearly as well, so the whole tray gets 'contaminated', turns dark, and starts to smell quickly. I scoop several times a day, and I used to have to completely change the tray much less often. I could just keep topping it up because it clumped so nicely. It's a real shame because I haven't found an alternative yet!

Our kitten spreads these way-too-fine granules everywhere because they get stuck in everything. Not recommended...

The product itself is good, no complaints there. The 1 star is for the deliberate false claim about the volume. This is NOT 5 litres. If you're being generous, it's 2.5 litres at most.

At first, I was very pleased with Cat’s Best Original: it clumps well, controls odours, and the fact that it’s biodegradable was a real plus. However, after about a month, a lot of fine dust started to build up at the bottom of the tray. Every time I cleaned it, a lot of dust would rise, which made using it unpleasant. I clean the tray twice a day and wash it weekly, so I expected more consistent performance. Unfortunately, I won’t be buying it again.

I used to be so happy with this clumping litter and had been using it for years. Then suddenly, the whole house was covered in litter, and it kept sticking to my cats’ paws—they spent ages trying to get it off. I gave it another chance, but nothing changed. I’ve switched to a different litter now. Something in its formula must have changed.

Up until now, this was the best litter and my cats loved it, but with this last order you can really see the difference—the grains are different and much bigger. Right now I have two litter boxes: one with the old litter (the only one the cats want to use now) and the other with the new one, which they haven’t touched in days. Now what am I supposed to do with 40 litres of litter?

Half a year ago, this litter was really good – cheaper, clumped well, had a pleasant wood scent, and wasn’t dusty at all. The only downside was that my cat spread it everywhere. But three months ago, I ordered it again and it was terribly dusty, and my cat developed an allergy because of all the dust. I tried to sift the litter a bit, and the amount of dust that came out was shocking! I ordered another 40L pack, hoping maybe the previous one was just a bad batch. But that one was just as horribly dusty, so from now on I won’t be buying this litter anymore!

The litter smells more like dust, as if it’s been sitting somewhere musty for a while. It doesn’t have that fresh wood scent like it used to.
