SureFlap XXL Microchip Pet Door

This has changed our life ! seriously ! for anyone who has other cats coming through their Catflap then this is for you. We installed a couple of days ago and it is brilliant. Our cat loves it as no more unwanted guests and he used it straight away. Very, very clever how it works and worth every penny

Bit wary when I bought this item - for 2 large cats - but certainly did exactly what it says on the box. One of my cats not at all keen because of the loud click the catch makes but when re-set delay to maximum he was OK with it and over time I was able to reduce the time delay on the locking mechanism to default. Certainly reduced the stress levels in the house! Just moved so need to get another one!

Don't waste your money on a "magnet controlled" flap from a different manufacturer (clunky, unpredictable, badly designed). The SureFlap flap WORKS. The clicks did not put off my cat - she found the newness of the flap a little stiff at first. But she got it within 2 days. The 10 second delay option has been brilliant, giving her a chance to keep trying until the flap opens.

This is good pet door but after i installed it i realised this has only one program which work on all microchip If i set up it for my cat to go out it is mean dog can use the same program and can not seprate microchip in diffrent program

My two cats - who were both used to using cat doors - hated the clicking sound of the lock and refused to use the door at all. We disabled the microchip reader and it still took a week of treats to encourage them through it. After another week, they were coming and going without hesitation. We then re-introduced the microchip reader, but with an additional time delay before the door locks, and they are both using it without any problem. Our intruder can no longer enter to steal food and sleep in our lounge! Great door. Love the curfew mode.

all I can say is I love it and it works on the animals microchip which is really useful as my older cat keeps losing her collar so a collar tag is useless for her. I also use the timer so both her and I know that once shes back after curfew shes locked in until it releases automatically in the morning at the time I set. No more waking up in the morning on Sundays to let her out!!!! yipee.

This cat flap is amazing, very happy. It is so much easier for our large cats to get through, and no harder for the tiniest one either. In terms of installation size, there isn't a huge difference but the cat door is so much bigger. Also has more options than equivalent "normal" size one. TAKES TYPE C BATTERIES (not included).

I loved this cat flap for 8 days. Then, without anyone changing anything, the door is permanently open outwards. I had it for a year in its original box before I found anyone to fit it for me, otherwise I would have returned it.

We are quite disappointed by the functionality, I wish you could give each pet a separate rule (pet A: in and out, pet B: in only). Unfortunately still an all or nothing. We have one kitten (that would need to get in if it runs out) and a grown up cat (in/out whenever he wants). door works perfectly well if you are ok with limited options.

Very very impressed with this item. Works brilliant and my cats n dogs git used to it very quickly. Would defo recommend the larger size over the cat flap version

My 3 cats became very stressed by an intruder coming and eating their food. They were also very wary of their garden too as a result. And the whole situation wasn't helped by the onset of Firework Season. So I invested in the SureFlap pet door. As it was smaller than the previous flap I had to have the PVC panel on the back door replaced which added to the cost but never mind. 3 days later Alice and Linus have no problem at all going out or coming back in. Dylan can get out OK but is still scared of the clicks so hasn't yet managed to get in. (He was 8 months old before he mastered his ordinary cat flap, so technology doesn't come easily to him!) But he will get there. The only problem I had with setting up was that I put the batteries in upside down…..

Bought this to replace another Sureflap Cat Flap. The Pet Door version is much more versatile and the double lock on the outside seems to have finally stumped our very creative escapologists/cats who managed to breach the Cat Flap version several times. We no longer have to build a barricade to prevent escapes. Curfew mode is a Godsend. Definitely worth the extra money.

We were plagued by neighbours' cats who invaded our house on a daily basis, stealing our cat's food and occasionally peeing in our house. Our vet advised us to get this microchip activated pet door and it is amazing. Our cat is 6.5kg and the pet door is large enough for him (the cat flap would have been too small, this is perfect). He initially found the clicking sound of the flap unlocking slightly scary, but he soon got used to it. The pet door has many different settings as well as a timer so you can programme it to whatever you want in terms of opening times and directions. It is easy to follow the very comprehensive manual that comes with the pet door. We left it totally unlocked for a few days so our cat got used to the feel of the door and then switched on the setting that unlocks it for only our cat by identifying his microchip. It works brilliantly and is worth every penny. The zooplus price was the cheapest I could find for this pet flap. It was delivered quickly. I am delighted with the purchase and with the service from zooplus. It is worth knowing that Sureflap have a well manned UK helpline that you can ring with any questions about the product or it's operation, or questions on fitting. I was incredibly impressed with this aspect of the product, as I rang them to get advise on which size would be best for our cat, and the phone was answered quickly and they knew their products inside out.

I brought this larger flap because one of my cats is a BIG boy! There is no way he would have squeezed through the smaller one but this size is perfect for him. I brought this after seeing my sisters sureflap & thought it was a fantastic idea with the microchip feature. I have two cats who are brother & sister, both 14 mths old. I left it on open for anyone for 24 hrs to allow them to get used to it without the clicking sound.The boy took a while to sniff it out & eventually figured out how to push it & go through. He still needed some encouragement though. By the next morning he was going in & out like a professional. The girl was a lot more unsure. I had to hold her paws & show her how to push the flap open as the magnets are quite strong & need a fair bit of force to open. She soon figured it out but was still very wary about using it to come back in. She definitely found coming in a lot harder & I found her a couple of times crying at the flap window trying to scrape her way through! I think the tunnel from the outside may be a bit daunting. Two days later & they are really getting used to it. The lock is now on & i have put it in the mode where it has a longer locking delay for timid cats so it gives them a chance to hesitate once they have heard the click but still proceed without it clicking rapidly to relock it & open it when they move their head back again. The constant clicking can be off putting but this mode solves this little problem. I think it is a great flap. I brought it 9 wks before my holiday to give them time to get used to it but 48 hrs later & they are doing great. Neighbourhood cat that used to use my house like a restaurant now sits at the flap & looks in but cant get in anymore! Great flap, well worth the money. Great size that can be used by either small or large cats. Easily fitted with a good instruction booklet.

My name is CharlieBear, a little grey pussie cat. My mummy found me after I had been abandoned by some nasty people! Who left me near a bin on bin day, long story, but I chose my new mummy and I love her very much. But as I am getting older (just ad my 1st birthday yeh!) Plus my new big sister who is an a’wld o.a.p cat of 13years! Us two girls were starting to get unwanted bully cats coming into our home when mummy was out. It eats our food and bullied us before it left a nasty smell. So my mummy got us this new cat flap ‘Sureflap’ and it was a hundred of those pound’ies, (which is a lot of cat treats!)But I told my mummy I was worth it. So she bought one and got a man round to fit it, didn’t take him very long either, just enough time to have a brew and a bikkie or 2! Now I’m back to been my mischief self and after all I did catch mummy a few presses to say thank you  DON’T SIT ON THE FENCE WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!

This is a brilliant product that is also an easy DIY project. The door works really well. My cat was a housecat for 2 years and is extremely timid but she took to using it to go outside really well, shame she doesn't like coming back inside as much.

I recommend this door. I paid a professional installer to put the cat door in, so I can't judge how easy the installation is into a wooden kitchen door like mine. The installer had me put the cat's head through the door twice. and it picked up my cat's chip immediately (she was chipped two months ago, so the chip is new). My cat figured out how to go out the door about 1 minute after installation. Learning how to come back in was harder, as my cat tried to pry it open with her paws and didn't figure out for a while that she had to wait for the click to let her back in (it doesn't click when she goes out) and that she had to go in head-, and not paws-, first. So I had to go outside and pick her up a few times and push her head through it, and she then learned how to get back inside. It did take a few more tries before I was satisfied that she knew how to open it from outside, and she now proudly goes in and out on her own. She's a small cat and the size is appropriate for her, as I don't think she would have coped with squeezing through the standard-sized flaps, which are much smaller. I bought this door because it has a 'curfew' timer mode, so that my cat can only go out during the times I program (which are daylight hours). It will let her back in after the curfew time, but she is very unhappy that it currently clicks shut at 5pm every night to prevent her going out, and I find her regularly sitting by it during the night trying to will it to open! So I usually push a box against the cat door when it's programmed to be shut so that she gives up trying to pry it open. But she also doesn't understand that the microchip door keeps the local bully cat out, so my cat often sits inside our back door guarding her flap from invaders (the box against the cat door helps allay her fears at night).

This cat flap is great, it is well made, was easy to programme, much easier to install than previous flaps and being the larger size has ample room for my 8 Kg kitty to get in and out. It also has options to increase the time the door unlocks for - great for cats that dither outside for ages before coming in (I have an ex stray that likes to check who is in the kitchen before entering). I had a problem with another of my cats in that it was not picking up his microchip (due to the strength of his microchip signal) and the door wouldn't open for him so I emailed Sureflap customer service and they were brilliant! Problem was resolved quickly and efficiently and I now have 3 happy cats and the local bully cat is very frustrated with not being able to get in. I am also saving £££s on cat food bills. I would certainly recommend this for anyone who has large cats (or small dogs) and wants to stop all the neighbourhood cats from wandering in as they please. I would also recommend buying with confidence from Sureflap as a company - they sent me a range tester to check the unit was working properly - it was so they told me how to put it into high power mode to increase the strength of the signal. This did the trick but if it hadn't they were going to order me a specially modified unit with a longer tunnel. That's excellent customer service in my book!

We have used a microchip flap for a while now but were so pleased when this one was available. The larger door is easier for the cats and the double locking mechanism is more secure. We have been waiting for one which we could program to open and shut as we keep our cats in at night, and this is perfect and easy to use. Thumbs up!

Installed in the garage wall with tunnel extensions. Not too noisy. I was worried my cat might be scared to use it because of the thickness of the wall and the click when it opens, but no, he used it easily. You can set it to open mode at first (without chip lock) so the cat gets used to it. I chose this size of cat flap, not because my cat is very big, but because of the tunnel—I thought he'd be more comfortable, and I don't regret it.

At first I had to practice a bit and it took a few days for my cats to figure it out, but now it works brilliantly and takes so much stress off all of us. I chose the larger flap. I have a Norwegian Forest Cat mixed with Maine Coon and apparently a purebred Maine Coon. In any case, I think the size is perfect for both of them and I’d definitely recommend going for the bigger flap if you have larger cats. And yes, the mechanism is actually a bit noisy.

The little door works well.. It almost completely lacks instructions for setting the opening and closing times.. It doesn't show whether the cat has gone through and whether it's inside or outside..

The flap is well made, and the closing mechanism is fairly quiet too. Installation was easy. But here's an important tip: The instructions assume it never rains or gets stormy. That's not the case here. Before fitting the outer panel, you should definitely seal all around the cut-out in the door with silicone, otherwise when it rains, water will get into the wide gap between the outer panel and the tunnel and soak through the door from the inside!

The cat flap doesn’t work. We can’t register our cat, either with the cat’s microchip or with the tag that came with it.

Our tomcat has to get his shoulder really close to the flap for it to react. There’s no room for his head in the tunnel anymore. After a week of trying, I ended up disabling the function. Now our tomcat and other cats just go through the freely swinging flap. I can’t recommend this product.

I’ve had the flap installed since January now. When everything works, it’s really good. Especially because it’s nice and big. I don’t want my cats going out at night. Unfortunately, the set time keeps resetting, so sometimes I find the cats outside again in the morning.

We have had this cat flap for a little over a year now. Our cat managed to open the previous cat flap, so it was time to buy one that closes better. But our cat can open this one too. He puts his head—and his chip—by the reader until he hears the lock click, then uses his claw to pull the flap forward and get through. Knowing that a fox walks around here at night, I had hoped to keep the cat inside, but no luck. Clever cat. Other than that, it’s a fine flap.

I already have a "SureFlap Microchip Pet Door" between the house and the barn (works perfectly). The other pet door (same model) is between the barn and the outdoors, to keep unfamiliar cats out of the barn.

The first one we bought turned out to have a door that was too small for our biggest tomcat to comfortably get in and out (he became a bit of a square cat—temporarily—when squeezing through). Door number 2 was the brown pet door with chip reader (works really well), which we installed in the door leading out to our barn, so it’s snow-free outside even in winter. Even our big tomcat is really happy with it now. Door number 3 is the same as number 2, but will be installed in one of the barn’s two entrances (possibly a fourth door later on).

We’ve bought this product before and were very happy with it! The cat flap is worth its price and we’d buy it again anytime! By the way, our “old” Sureflap lasted almost 15 years. 💪🏻👍🏻😉

My cats have had a cat flap for 13 years and always used it without any problems, but it never had an outside lock! Now I had to activate it because of strange cats coming in, and my cats won’t go through anymore because the mechanism scares them! As soon as they put their heads in the tunnel, it makes a really loud click and they back away and run off! Now they don’t want to use it even without the lock! I’ve tried every suggestion out there for weeks! Nothing works! HELP!

Easy to programme. But I’m very disappointed with the insulation. The brush seals are too small and let a lot of air through the cat flap door.

I've had this cat flap for 5 years now. I've never had any problems—only my cat can get in thanks to his microchip. It's true that it makes a bit of noise, but it's not annoying, and you know when your cat comes in or goes out. I don't use the programming feature because I don't need it. The size is just right for a big cat. I'm very satisfied, it really makes life easier for everyone 😉
