Feeding guide
Manufacturer’s feeding recommendation in g/day per cat
The following food amounts are only guidelines since the needs of pets vary from animal to animal. Adapt the amount of food to maintain an ideal weight for your cat. When in doubt, consult your vet.
Your cat should always have access to fresh water. Upon approval of your vet, mix the new food in with your cat's old food, adding a little bit more each day over a period of 7 days.
Supplementing Hill's with other foods is not necessary, and can reduce the effectiveness of Hill's cat food.
My cat has severe food allergies and is unable to tolerate any food except Hill's z/d. Furthermore, she loves it!

Bring back former recipe!
Wonderful for years, then came the recipe change (why?). Build up of new recipe resulted in a very sick cat and a 2k vet bill! Still trying to find one that will help and be as good as the original ZD.

Fab food
My cat had diarrhoea and very loose stools and our vet did all sorts of tests which all came back negative. She thought it could be food related. So decided to put her on this food. It took about 8 weeks to settle but since then she has had normal stools and hasn’t looked back.

My cat is allergic to cat food
We have been using this for a number of years now after being recommended it by our vets after we found out a cat we adopted was allergic to cat food.
He was very thin had constant diarrhea but as soon as we gave him this he had normal stools and started gaining weight.
Vets suggested we could try to wean him off it slowly as it is obviously more expensive than standard cat food but as soon as we give more than a small amount of normal cat food he get diarrhea within twelve hours again.

Horrible
After much switching of different cat foods to alleviate my 10 yr old cat excessive itching if face and ears with brown wax constantly in ears I took to and recommended to switch to this prescription diet. Within 2 weeks continuous vomiting and diahrrea with this food. Cats are finicky and hopefully can get her back on at least the old food so
She doesn’t go into kidney or liver failure. Don’t feed this crap unless you want to kill your cat!

Make it moist.
My cat has completely gone off the cans of wet food, but does like the dry food. I need to add medication to her food so it needs to be soft to make sure she gets it. I tried moistening her dry food with boiling water and leaving it to soak until absorbed, then fluff it up with a fork. Works perfectly and she loves it. She now has a choice of moist or dry and crunchy and loves it either way. But definitely not the canned wet food. It's far too "claggy" and appears to stick in her throat.

Change of ingredients and alternative brand
My cat used to love this food, change of protein led to hair loss and excessive licking. I changed to Royal Canin SC 27 and found this very effective.

Extremely allergic Sphinx cat
This food saved my cat. BEST food for cats with food allergies.
When I got my cat(Peach) I was 2 or even 3 owner and at first, it was bizarre why so many owners returned cat back to pedigree when he was already 1.2 years old.
Soon Peach started to develop different health issues: rash, diarrhoea and vomiting. All of them ended bloody and nasty.
A cat who is eating like a “vacuum cleaner” suddenly stopped eating as well.
2 days in Vet clinic. After tried that food and it worked.

What a bag of utter shite
Can anyone explain to me how any of the ingredients in this food are supposed to help my cat? Grains? What grains are they? Meat and animal byproducts? Pardon? Anyone fancy enlightening me on what any of these ingredients actually consist of? I think I'll stick to my hypoallergenic Canagan, thanks.

No more diarrheoa!
Suggested to try this by my vet for potential IBD diagnosis, before going down blood, urine, fecal testing route. It has cleared her up in about a week which is a huge relief. Both cats love the biscuits (nothing was wrong with the other cat but can't feed separately). I'm keeping an eye on the trays as their poop at times is more indicative of constipation but not to a point of concern.

New Formula doesn't work
The original formula was a miracle cure for my 2 year old boy Jack, who has severe food allergies. He won't eat the new formula and is now a very ill boy again. When I phoned Hills they told me it was just new packaging but the same formula which it obviously wasn't. They made me feel stupid and Im so glad to read these reviews and know its not just me. I have tried lots of different makes but nothing is working. Has anybody found an alternative food that works for their cat?

Used to be excellent...what’s changed?
My cat was on this food for 13 years, it kept his skin & stools under control. Since November 2018 he started with runny stools, vomiting & weight loss. As soon as I switched him to hills d/d everything improved until this week, he’s started vomiting with runny stools again, I’ve checked the bag of food and there’s been another formula change from venison to duck! I wish hills would stop changing the formulas of products that used to work very well but are now making my cat sick.

My cat would kill for it
My cat thinks every pellet is a treat. It’s weird but he’s broken in to the plastic tub I keep it in numerous times. And it works from an allergy perspective - he doesn’t rip his skin and the litter tray is almost pleasant!
