If using this product for the first time, introduce it gradually over 5 days into your dog’s regular meals. It will take 3-8 weeks for the positive effects of the new diet to show. Always provide sufficient fresh water for your dog to drink.
As my dog loves Forthgrade and I now live in France, I ordered a 36 pack. After just three and a half weeks, it was obvious that the seal on five of the packs was poor, air had entered and the food was going off and has had to be thrown away. I have now frozen the remaining packs.

Mouldy package
Opened the box of Forthglade to find one tray was completely mouldy.

Initially pleased but moved to another product now
Was initially delighted with this product. High meat content and my dog loved it. But as he grew older, he stopped enjoying the rather soft mushy texture.
In addition, I had quite a number of problems with leaky containers - the seal does not appear very robust - allowing mould to form inside. The individual trays are packed standing on its side. This appears to put added pressure on some of the seals leading to leakage and mould problems.

Good when sealed properly
My dog loves this stuff but I've had a few issues with improperly sealed packs resulting in a foul smell and mouldy food which had to be thrown out. I contacted Forthglade and they replaced the packs, but I could do without the hassle. I would buy this food again if only it was guaranteed to be properly sealed.

Recent issues
I have been buying Forthglade for well over a year. It was fine until, about six months ago, we started receiving packs with damaged seals. The food in these packs was rotten, covered in mould and completely useless.
I reported it to Zooplus numerous times, and every time they wanted photographs and product numbers as proof before they would issue a refund. Not completely unreasonable, but a real pain!

I used to use Forthglade until I read that it has carrageenan in it
My dog loves all Forthglade grain free varieties and I fed it to her for 3 years. BUT no more, I have used the independent 'all about dog food ' website and found out that carrageenan is in this food, there is no mention on the outer wrapper so I sent an email to Forthglade and they confirmed it, but said they trying to manufacture it without. I am not prepared to risk my dog's health. I have had bashed and broken trays but after photographs were sent were refunded for the damaged trays.

Good when packs are properly sealed
I won't be buying any more of this food because I've had too many packs which have spoiled because the packs are not sealed properly and the food goes mouldy and starts stinking. It's a shame because my dog loved it when it was okay and it seemed to be good for his sensitive stomach. Clearly this company has a bit of a problem with sealing their packs correctly and I can't afford to buy dog food just to throw it away when it's spoiled.

Barney loves it!
Good quality food made in a pate style, not wet. Mixes nicely with his kibble.
Would have given 5 stars but my latest order included two packs that were not sealed and couldn't be used. Having read the reviews it seems to be a regular occurrence. Sort out your QC, Forthglade.

My dogs love this food and it always arrives quickly, however this time 3 of the trays weren't stealed properly.

put the boxes away after they arrived then 2 weeks later noticed a nasty smell some of the packs had opened and we had maggots

I had her on a raw diet, but found it difficult to manage, whereas Forthglade is so easy to take away with you, easy to store and manage. When Zooplus ran out recently I used Wainwrights from Pets at Home, and it had a bad smell to it - so I’m so happy to get back to Forthglade. Do hope the recent availability problems on Zooplus are temporary as they’re a great Company to deal with generally.

Great Quality the dogs love and Great Price the owners like!
We have always bought our dogs the best we can afford and have always gone ‘grain free’ and ‘Fish/Meat Meal’ free. Having used Wainwrights happily before, we noticed at Pets at Home that Forthglade is made locally to us in Devon and so gave it a try.
We were very happy with the different texture and mix of vegetables and have changed to Forthglade now.
Great price at Zooplus combined with the Zooplus ‘Savings Plan’ discount of 5%. We buy Barking Heads Fusspot Salmon at Zooplus too.

Happy dog & owner!
Our dogs have been on Forthglade for about a year and a half now. We mix it with a quality kibble. They love it and lick their bowls clean on every meal! They never have tummy problems nowadays, are full of energy and our previously overweight dog is now nice and lean. These mix packs are great for keeping fussy dogs interested with the variety. Will definitely stick to this!

pity I bought a saver pack
I have tried different varieties of this product and they all look the same - like mush. My greyhounds are enthusiastic diners but Forthglade does not light their fire. We'll be relieved when it's all used up (four packs to go...)

great food
I use this food for travelling as I usually feed my dog a raw diet. This is the next best thing to raw and my dog absolutely loves it without any problems. It's rare finding such a good quality product at such a great price!

Disappointing
Having read such good reviews I bought 2 mixed packs of this for my border terrier. He wouldnt touch it :( I have the cupboard stacked with this stuff now and bit choked I wasted the money. Will take it to local dog rescue.

Next best thing to raw food!
Our dog had been raw fed but due to digestive problems we changed her over to this food a year ago she loves it and it suits her very well.She is doing very well on it- it's the next best thing to raw food.

Great for sensitive tummies
Our cocker spaniel loves this food. Wholesome good food including vegetables. Since eating this food our dogs digestion has been perfect. We tried so many types and varieties and this beats all for quality and price.
