Product description

Dietetic wet food for adult cats with advanced chronic kidney disease, helps prevent increased urinary calculus formation, with adapted phosphorus and protein content, energy-rich and appetising

Chronic kidney disease in cats is often accompanied by a reduced appetite, which can make your pet's health situation even worse. Therefore, a dietary food designed for cats with kidney problems should not only be tailored to the specific nutritional needs of the cat, but should also be particularly appetising. Royal Canin Veterinary Cat Renal Loaf is a great choice: The wet food is a wonderfully delicate loaf that looks and smells as delicious as it tastes.

The cat food is specially developed for cats with advanced chronic kidney disease. It has a low phosphorus and moderate protein content, which can help support kidney function and manage recurrent urinary calculus formation. The special appetising recipe, texture and flavour of Royal Canin Veterinary Cat Renal Loaf will attract any fussy cats to the feeding bowl. This is a fairly high-energy food, so small portions are sufficient to give your cat the energy it needs.

Cat never gets bored of this one
My 20 1/2 year old cat was diagnosed with end stage renal disease a year ago and went straight onto RC food when he came out of hospital. He got his appetite back and i tried all the different renal foods but his firm favourite is the renal loaf and there is always a clean plate, in his own time.

Our old cat has got his mojo back
Our old cat (18 years) was diagnosed with kidney disease 6 months ago and was very poorly. Since then, we have given him nothing but Royal Canin Renal Loaf and Renal dry food and he is now alert, enjoying life and thriving. He has one pouch at night as a treat and it has all gone by morning. Compared to our previous cats with kidney problems, this is the first time we have ever managed to get a cat to eat renal food. Well done Royal Canin!

My cat loves this
My cat gets fed up of chicken & salmon urinary food but he loves this one so I’ve mixed the pouches to give more variety

One she can't get enough of!
Our senior cat was diagnosed with acute renal failure after being very ill last year and almost lost her, the vets obviously advised she needs to be on a renal diet from now on. Trying to find something she'll eat more than a bite of has been tough as she's always been a picky eater. These fab pouches are a godsend for us, she actually runs up and meows for these pouches! it's quite amazing after being at deaths door a cpl times now she's rallied back and I am so happy she has food she clearly enjoys

Finally a food my cat will eat!
As seems to be the case with Renal cat food in sauce my cat just licks the sauce and leave the chunks (even if they are 'small') so she is not getting any real nourishment to build her up. Having tried most of the well known Renal brands I thought I would try this loaf. Neither of my cats have been fond of the 'pate' style of food preferring the real fish type. Quite surprised to see my Amber actually eating this loaf. It does need to be cut into smallish chunks but seems to be a success.

Smooth pate, no lumps
Of the Royal Canin renal wet foods this one is my old boy's favourite because it is a smooth pate. He doesn't have all his teeth and there's no chasing lumps around the dish, no hard lumps of fat. If I think my cat's not drinking enough, water can be easily mixed in to this food to make it softer. I wish the other RC flavours would come in a smooth loaf too.

Need more!
This is the only food my cat will eat, he will not eat the sliced version. However they currently only sell one box at a time! There used to be an option for 4 boxes so I’d only need to order once in a while but now I’m ordering constantly. But of a havoc when I don’t realise how low I am on the previous box!

So happy
My 15 year old cat, as so many others started to have kidney problems. I had to change his food, trying different brands because he wouldn't eat it. It was a struggle. Then I discovered this one and I'm so happy, he cleaned up the bowl, and I hope it will remain like that. I don't hesitate to recommend this loaf.

Thank you fellow reviewer
My cat, in common with so many other elderly kidney challenged cats, is inclined to lick the gravy off renal diet food. A review praised this renal loaf and boy was she (he) right. Wonderful to see cat hoovering his food again. Eating no longer a chore for him. Quick note to Royal Canin: please package your food in tins, which can be recycled. It's a disgrace that these sachets have to be sent to landfill :(

Not loaf
Not what I would understand as loaf. I was expecting it to be similar to the pate styles that other brands do but maybe a little firmer, but this is like dryish mush. Cat tried it but wouldn’t eat any more. Very disappointing, I had been so hopeful when I saw RC had a new renal food.

A food my fussy old Madam will eat
I'm so glad there is an alternative to all the chunks in gravy as all my cat will do is lick the gravy off and leave the lumps behind! Not with this food, this food she loves and actually eats the lot.

Least favourite
Of all the Royal Canin Veterinary Cat renal range, the Loaf is my cat's least favourite. She loves the gravy of the other flavours, but the loaf doesn't come with any sauce.

The only one!
This is the only wet food my elderly cat with renal disease will eat. Actually looks forward to it! Every other wet food I tried (including the other Royal Canin products) is just pushed around the plate...I just hope she won't tire of it

Great new addition!
My 19yo cat has been on a renal diet for three years now and through changing tastes and progression of his CKD his appetite for renal foods (hills and royal canin) waxes and wanes. This new addition to the Royal Canin repertoire has him following me around the house when he sees it in my hand and we wolfs it down spectacularly. As an elderly cat with missing teeth this also seems easier for him to manage than chunks in gravy. All in all, a great food, I hope it comes in saver packs soon!

Great replacement of the can food
I was so disappointed when royal canin stopped making the canned renal food that my two 17yr old cats loved but now they have replaced it with this mousse and I think my cats prefer it! They wolf it down and it I s also really good on their sensitive stomachs, so I’ve gone from being a sceptic to a convert on this

An absolute hit with my 13 yo girl
I’ve been struggling with getting my cat eating renal diet ever since her vet asked us to switch to it. We’ve tried all brands and eventually settled with RC, which she eats but not amazingly well. So pleased to see this new addition - she adores pates and has devoured the whole pouch in one sitting, which is totally unheard of! She even licked the bowl clean. Fab product, will definitely repurchase
