Product description
Dietetic wet food for adult cats with chronic renal insufficiency. It has a low phosphorus and protein content which helps to reduce formation of calcium oxalate stones and makes urine more alkaline.
When kidney function is impaired, excess waste products and toxins can no longer be adequately excreted and accumulate in the body. Cats suffering from kidney disease, such as chronic renal failure, require a diet that provides the best possible relief for the kidneys.Insufficient fluid intake combined with an acidic urinary environment can lead to the formation of oxalate and urate stones. Stone formation can be reduced by adjusting the mineral content and urine pH.
How does Concept for Life Veterinary Diet Renal Chicken support your cat?
Concept for Life Veterinary Diet Renal Chicken is a specially developed high-premium complete diet food for adult cats, optimally adapted to the nutritional needs of cats with kidney weakness and oxalate and urate stones.
The low protein content and the use of high-quality proteins reduce the production of waste products, such as urea. A low phosphorus content supports cats with kidney disease, as they are often unable to excrete excess phosphorus. This can relieve the strain on the kidneys.
The formation of bladder stones, such as oxalate and urate stones, is reduced by low calcium, vitamin D, and purine levels, as well as a special mineral ratio that counteracts urinary acidity. Impaired kidney function is often accompanied by loss of appetite, which is why Concept for Life Veterinary Diet Renal Chicken is particularly well-accepted.

Smells nice but again, not cats would not 1 of my 5 cats would eat this
Not one of my 5 cats would eat this so am left with 5 tins to give away. It is the first time they have not liked Concept so am not sure what it is about this food

Refused
Cat won't eat this unless he is starving.
I mix it with his usual, to try and disguise, but I've been sussed ... Will stay with Purina pouches that he can't get enough of

Liked by cat but difficult to lick bowl clean
My cat eats this and seems to like it. I mash the potato bits up. Only problem, as with another tinned variety I tried, is that it sticks to the bottom of the bowl and he finds it difficult to lick it clean.

cat eats with enthusiasm
my cat only ate the gravy from royal canin and purina renal pouches - with this she licks the bowl clean! The hard white cubes are pieces of potato which she seems to really enjoy. So relieved to have found food that she actually eats rather than licks and leaves!

Nasty white cubes
I bought this because my cats' usual was always sold out. They ate it reluctantly, never finishing it. I noticed it had regular cube shape hard bits, obviously not natural, they were so regular. They usually left these. When I removed the hard white cubes, they ate the food with enthusiasm.

Cat loves it
My cat prefers this over other prescription kidney diets, and it's less waste in a tin rather than pouches, so win win!

The DOG loves it!
The cat will eat almost anything but isn't going for this until she's starving. (The dog however has made her way up to the cat's perch and is happily scoffing it when our backs are turned.)
Before giving up though, I will try the tip above about blending out the potato chunks.

My cat will not eat this
There is fat and gristle in this and my hates it. Would not recommend.

Popular with all our cats
We used to have to force out elderly cat to eat, we practically had to chase her and keep putting the food in front of her. There was no brand she liked, but she absolutely loves this food and even our 'healthy' cat wants this instead of her regular food.
I am very happy that our old lady is eating properly again.
It doesn't look great and there's always a bit of fat (or something) on the bottom of the tin, but as long as she likes it it's all good in my books.

Very good
My cat was showing signs of irreversible kidney damage and vomiting a lot. I changed his food to some specialised kibble and this wet food which is firm and looks quite palatable.
He liked it a lot, his condition is stable and he isn't vomiting anymore.
For me it's a yes.

Needs mashing
Tried this last year but nobody would touch it. Gave up until renal parameters got worse. Tried again, but mashed it up to blend the potato chunks.... Goes down a treat.
Love quality meat content, wish there weren't potatoes in it (cats are carnivores????)

Well accepted and well put together
My cat with kidney issues accepted this food very quickly. He loves it when I warm it up a little. I think the ingredients are great, because it contains a lot of meat and no grains. Great!

Nobody wants it!
Cat wouldn't touch it. Birds won't touch it (and usually the seagulls round here will eat anything). It doesn't look appetising either :-( Wish it had worked.

My cat loves it
My cat is 11 years old and has chronic renal insufficiency. He was in a bad way and wasn't eating anything. This wet food has given him lots of strength

Appetising
After experimenting with all the brands on the market (both from the shop and online) this is the only product that my kitten eats, I don't know if it is just a coincidence but I myself have noticed that after opening the product does not change color and does not smell, as happens with all the others (even the most famous brands)

Good product
My 14 year old cat eats it quite willingly. It has the texture of minced meat, not pate and is very compact. Since they are 200g and I alternate it with dry food, after opening I keep it in the fridge and it can be kept for a few days. But before I feed it, I heat it slightly in the microwave so it becomes soft and I can easily mash it with a fork. I would definitely recommend it.

He loves it
One of my cats is on the renal diet and he loves it, he eats it with pleasure which is rare because normally he gets bored quite easily.
