Semi-Moist Dog Food

Semi-moist dog food contains more moisture than dry food, but less than wet food. The higher water content is generally an advantage. But other factors also determine the quality and suitability of the food for your dog. This includes the type and composition of the ingredients, the production process and the nutritional and physiological properties of the feed. 

Semi-moist dog food is often a good interim solution when it comes to choosing between dry and wet food. It is characterised by the following advantages:

• The increased moisture content supports the dog's hydration.
• Soft dog food usually has a longer shelf life than wet food.
• Soft dog food often leads to greater acceptance.
• The soft consistency can make chewing easier, e.g. for older dogs with dental problems.
• It is often better tolerated than classic dry food. 

Semi-moist dog food and soft dog treats can be offered to any dog, as long as it is fed according to dogs’ needs. Soft dry food can be a particularly good choice for the following dogs:

• Dogs with dental problems: soft dry dog food is a suitable choice if your four-legged friend suffers from dental disease or is missing teeth.
• Seniors: compared to conventional dry dog food, soft dog food is easier to chew and swallow for old dogs with weak teeth.
• Dogs with a sensitive digestive system: dogs with digestive problems and sensitive stomachs often tolerate semi-moist dog food better than dry food.
• Picky dogs: Similarly to wet food for dogs, semi-moist dog food is often characterised by being particularly tasty and can be better accepted by picky dogs than dry food.
