No comparison to Natural Paradise Primrose
Because the delivery date for the Natural Paradise Primrose scratching barrel in grey kept getting postponed, I started looking for an alternative and thought I had found one with the Diogenes L. Unfortunately, I realised as soon as I unpacked it that the quality wasn’t as good as Natural Paradise. I sent it back straight away and waited until the grey Primrose barrel was back in stock.

The cat likes it.
I got the cat tower here through a discount promotion, and I’m really impressed. My two cats love it. Unfortunately, one of my cats is a bit bigger/heavier and sadly doesn’t fit inside (though he’d probably fit in the XL version). It’s also very sturdy and doesn’t topple over when my cats climb up and down.
Unfortunately, a small hole appeared in the fabric at the top on the third day, but that’s not a big issue for me.

Looks good
The barrel makes a good impression and looks great. However, during the first inspection, the first little ball was expertly removed after just five minutes. Curious to see how long the barrel lasts ☺️

Goes down very well
The kitties love this scratching post. However, one downside is that the removable fabric at the top doesn’t stay in place at all. Press studs would be a better option.

Lovely scratching barrel
I’m absolutely thrilled. My cat took to it straight away, and when she sits on top, she can look perfectly out of the window, as I only have skylights.
The only downside is that the cosy bed doesn’t stay in place. Unfortunately, the Velcro is only on one side, so it doesn’t hold properly.

Scratchy tone
Very nice. But it's more suitable for smaller cats. It's true, for the sturdier ones you need something bigger.

Mixed feelings
Unfortunately our cat need an XL tower rather than L - he technically fits in this and on top, but it's cramped. That's my mis-judgement.
The bottom hole opens to the middle area but the platform to sit on is very small, even for a cat a bit smaller than ours. The middle hole doesn't open up to the top one which for more agile cats won't be an issue, but our cat needs a step to reach the top hole - the only one he uses! Otherwise its is sturdy and the scratching sides are better than coil posts.

Scratching Barrel Diogenes L
Super lovely scratching barrel, fast delivery, arrived without any defects. It was inspected straight away and accepted by our 16-week-old Siamese cat, who plays with it so energetically that, unfortunately, two of the three pom-poms fell off after just two days.
However, that doesn’t take away from the scratching barrel at all. The lounging surfaces are fantastic, everything is super soft, and the little one absolutely loves the holes to jump through!
An amazing product – I would definitely order it again.

Super scratch barrel 👍🏽
My little one took to the scratching barrel straight away, even though she usually reacts quite sensitively to things with a new smell.
She climbed on it and immediately started playing – definitely a big plus point there! 😊
Unfortunately, I’m not happy with the workmanship of the cushion on top, as the seams are visible. I would have preferred the seams to be hidden underneath instead.

Too small for XXL cats – but perfect for regular cats
Good quality, it's just too small for my Maine Coon... She still squeezes herself in anyway. My average-sized tomcat loves the barrel. I can recommend it.

Great scratching barrel
Very large and sturdy scratching barrel. However, I find it negative that the holes are more suited to small cats, the cushion is also very small, and you can't remove it for washing.

Lovely bin
The bin was immediately well received and it doesn’t smell chemical but pleasantly of wood.
However, when our cat, with his three kilos, takes a running start, it tips over.
We can’t leave it standing freely without weighing it down at the bottom. Hence, only 4 ****.

Actually quite satisfied
I'm quite satisfied with the barrel. My cats took to it straight away, which is great. The only annoying thing is that the jingle balls came off after barely 10 minutes of play. Other than that, it's brilliant. Well-made overall and no unpleasant smell.

Great viewpoint
We've had the barrel for quite a while now. Our two cats took to it straight away and started exploring. The caves serve as hiding spots, and the nest works as a lookout platform. They climb up as if it were a tree. It's great for scratching their claws. I did notice the unpleasant "artificial" smell that others have mentioned. It lingered for a long time, and even now you can still catch a whiff of it if you get close.

Great value for money
Bob claimed it straight away, as soon as it was out of the box. It easily withstands his weight and the force of his jumps without any trouble.

Great stuff
The upholstery and sisal carpet are really well-made. No unpleasant smell when unpacking, so the scratching barrel didn’t have to go straight onto the balcony. And what surprised me the most was when my cat even ignored the Zooplus shipping box in favour of the scratching barrel. Four stars for now, as it’ll only get the fifth if it proves itself over time.
