We've had the barrel for quite a while now. Our two cats took to it straight away and started exploring. The caves serve as hiding spots, and the nest works as a lookout platform. They climb up as if it were a tree. It's great for scratching their claws. I did notice the unpleasant "artificial" smell that others have mentioned. It lingered for a long time, and even now you can still catch a whiff of it if you get close.

Brilliant, sturdy and space saving, well worth the money

The scratching barrel is very sturdy and has only a few minor scratches from my two Bengals.

My 1 year old cat loves this, scratches the sides and plays in the holes. Hasn't really sat on the top yet not sure his worked out he can.... Great buy good sturdy quality doesn't fall over when cat climbs up or toddlers have a go too!

My two Norwegian Forest cats (13 and 14 years old) managed to seriously damage the scratching barrel in a very short time (despite being outdoor cats). The sisal is of poor quality compared to my other two scratching posts, and the fabric around the holes is already torn.

Unlike other experiences with this scratching barrel, mine had absolutely no unpleasant smell. My eight cats immediately inspected it and claimed it for themselves. Since the caves are not connected by an opening, two cats can comfortably lie inside together. When it comes to scratching posts, I’ve switched to the more expensive ones, as the sisal on the cheaper ones gets torn apart quickly with eight cats. This scratching barrel is excellently made and withstands the 16 paws perfectly.

The scratching barrel has replaced our huge old scratching post. It was already a bit battered, so it was time to get something new. We didn’t want another big monstrosity, and since our tomcat loves dens, the barrel was perfect. Very good quality!

Good, stable construction. Cat hangs onto it to climb up with no stability issues. She only played in the holes a little bit, however they're a good addition. Bought this as she had outgrown her cat tree- they want an area to scratch where they can fully stretch upwards. This barrel is ideal as she can grab whichever way she wants and it's big enough to use all her body. Good price, fast delivery. No complains.

Bob claimed it straight away, as soon as it was out of the box. It easily withstands his weight and the force of his jumps without any trouble.

The upholstery and sisal carpet are really well-made. No unpleasant smell when unpacking, so the scratching barrel didn’t have to go straight onto the balcony. And what surprised me the most was when my cat even ignored the Zooplus shipping box in favour of the scratching barrel. Four stars for now, as it’ll only get the fifth if it proves itself over time.

My Maine Coon mix is absolutely thrilled with the scratching barrel. He loves hiding inside it and giving me a swipe as I walk past (we're still working on his manners). So, I really can't complain!

We now have two of these barrels, but there will probably be a third one soon. We have four cats and they all love them equally. They find the other scratching posts much less interesting and play with them far less.

My cat really likes this. In the summer, it's a lookout spot on the balcony, and in the winter, it's used indoors. The little hideouts are perfect for siestas during hot weather. The soft balls are a nice bonus.

Luckily, it looks stylish because now it's just a part of the decor—my cat hasn't scratched the scratching post even once. It's a shame it goes unused.

Great quality, but my cats don't want to sleep inside, only outside. Great for scratching!

Very nice and comfortable scratching post for my cats. Charlie loves to sleep in the basket on top, and it’s also a really handy place to store your cat toys (in the little circles).

The scratching post is sturdy and nice, but the top cushion I received was sewn back to front (the layer that attaches to the Velcro is inside the bed).

The base of the top cushion was sewn on backwards, so it doesn’t stick to the Velcro at all, not even a little bit.

I bought mine 4 years ago, and my cat loves it. This one is for a friend, it's sturdy, durable, and meets the basic needs of the cat.
