I have 2 Mainecoon males, and they love the blue butterfly, they love the noise and the speed but only love the blue one and refuse to play with the yellow one in the last 3 days they have killed 4 butterflies. They need to be more durable and have more blue butterflies as yellow can be hard for cats to see. Anything on the red spectacles makes it hard and this yellow definitely is red based so please bare this in mind when making cat toys and I hope you guys find an upgraded version in future.

My cat is fascinated by this and will spend ages catching, batting or just staring at it. It comes with 4 butterfly attachments which is needed as it doesn’t take her long to destroy the butterflies. It does have a realistic fluttering action but some attachments need a bit of jiggling to sit in the right position to flutter rather than just spin. Downside is it makes a bit of an annoying noise.

My cat loves this toy. There are times she'll ignore it completely but others where she plays with it for a good half hour at a time. Well worth the money.

Had this toy a few yrs . Cats love it but today my kitten learnt how to pull the button off the toy. I put it back on within minutes he had again removed it and trying to eat it. This could have been a very expensive outcome. My kittens pedigree if he needed an operation for this it would have been very costly. Please either supervise your cats with this toy or don't let them have one with the button

This moves way too fast. I thought it might be like those solar powered ones for the garden which all cats like to play with but it spins at such a speed she just looks bemused by it and won’t even entertain it switched off. I’ll probably be giving it to a friend whose cats might enjoy it more.

This was loud and the mechanism was so fast it deterred the cats. I used the dangling part on a stick and they loved it!

I have purchased this item. Placed batteries in it. It doesn’t do anything. Does move neither on it own on when it’s being touched. My cat has no interest in this. A bit of movement would encourage the play.

So my 13 week kitten enjoyed playing with it without the butterfly moving (note that batteries aren't included and they are AA ones). Then when we switched it on he was scared at first but after he saw us playing with it he started playing with it bit by bit till he was full on batting and pouncing. You get a few extra butterflies. So I would definitely recommend if your cat has a very strong hunting instinct as that overcomes the fear of the machine.

My kittens love it however one of them got his nail trapped in the butterfly and was screaming out of pain. It's a great toy but do not leave it unattended and watch for the eyes too as

My 6 month old cat has been obsessed with this for the last two days...he has already destroyed half the spare butterflies so the toy won't last long (unless I can purchase more replacements) however for the price I'm happy.

Our cat loves this, even without batteries he will chase and pull on the butterfly. Unfortunately there are two issues: 1: the base is not heavy enough to prevent it being pulled over, even by a 5 month old kitten. 2: the first butterfly lasted 2 hours of play with our kitten. You can judge yourself whether you consider this durable or not but I expected slightly better. A number of replacement butterflies are supplied in the box which is good.

Initially one cat was terrified the other tried to murder the butterfly by holding it down constantly. After two introductions to this they were both bored of it. The butterflies are not very robust, but they do give you a few spares. May work for kittens.

This is a great toy for kitties. Our two boy cats love this (just wish one would share with his brother). This keeps them thoroughly entertained. My only issue was that one of my kittens started eating the butterfly because it is made of such a thin material, but with some supervision it is just fine.

Our cats love this toy, but we've had the same problem as some other reviewers, when the butterfly starts to spin around really fast, and doesn't flutter any more. My husband is an engineer and worked out how to fix it. Here's what to do: 1. Ensure the wire is a loose fit in the white plastic button it's attached to, ie the wire should move freely within the button, before you attach the button to the base. 2. Bend the wire in different places, esp. at the butterfly end, until it flutters.

My first cat was not at all keen on this.The butterfly moves way to fast. We attached some ribbons to it to slow it down a bit which worked but still my cat wasn't overly fussed. When I tried it with my second cat, he had more fun with it but he did end up bending the wire on the first butterfly near the base within the first twenty mins of play. In short wouldn't recommend. Scary to timid cats and not strong enough for more rough and tumble cats.

Another great toy from Zooplus. My foster kittens will play with this for ages and ages, eventually they sit on the butterfly!
