Smilla is appreciated for its grain-free formula and affordability, pleasing many cats with its variety, especially chicken with fish/duck. However, some reviews highlight issues like occasional large pieces of fat and inconsistency in batches, leading to refusals. Pretty good for the price
Smilla is a decent grain-free food and very reasonably priced. I have gotten it for my cats quite a few times.
Occasionally I will find a large piece of fat (1-2 inch) that hasn't been broken down properly. I tried to see if my cat could chew through it once, but it was discarded, and I fear could lead to a choking hazard if left unsupervised. It's quite prominent, so easy you pick out and discard before serving though, but just a rare annoyance with them.

Good quality great response
We have 4 cats all with different tastes but all really enjoy this food. It’s cost-effective and packaging is environmentally friendly, and we’ve never had issues (other than slight fat separating in some cans, but that just goes to our slimmest lad!). Group favourites are chicken with fish/duck, and 99/100 bowls are licked clean!

Good feed
Both my cats are very happy with the food. The nutritional values might not be the best, but it's definitely better than other types of food for the affordable price.

My cat would not touch it
He is not a picky eater. This food turns him away completely. At least dog loves it, so it won’t go to waste..

is not accepted
None of my cats will eat it, so I definitely won’t be buying it again.

We're sticking with it!
I've been buying Smilla for over 4 years now, and so far my tomcat really enjoys every variety! He gets both the wet and dry food and can hardly contain himself when the tin or pouch is opened :) The food always smells quite good too!

They like Smilla but not this variety.
My cats like Smilla Multi-Fleisch Töpfchen, but I'm still trying to switch to mono. I can only say this variety isn't liked at all (not mono).

Good, affordable food
Fish and poultry hearts are gladly eaten by our wild stray cats. The other varieties are less popular – especially the ones with a lot of fat at the bottom, which they only touch when they're very hungry or if I make sure not to mix the fat in. Overall, though, it's a good, affordable food with a decent meat content and no grains.

Not liked by all 7 cats!!
We have a household of 7 cats and none of them would touch this food! It’s cheap nasty pate type food. Don’t buy it!

It gets eaten.
The complete opposite of the other Smilla varieties in Tetra Pak. This one is eaten gladly and, unlike the other food, it’s not unappetising.
The price-performance ratio is spot on.

Batch dependent
I started to believe that there must be some quality difference from batch to batch.
We have been buying Smilla for over 2 years and both cats would wolf a batch and then completely refuse another one.
I can’t explain it in any other way.
From wolfing one week to starving the next.

Dodgy Batches
Initially my cat loved this brand and cleared his plate every time. In the summer we placed a large order which he refused to eat. We noticed that the food smelt odd and the tops 'popped' like there was air in them. Zooplus replaced the entire batch, and the same thing happened. We thought maybe the heat had got to it in a warehouse so left it a couple months and then ordered more. Cat refuses to eat it and all the lids are 'popped' again, so have gone in the bin. giving up on this brand!

Poultry with Duck
My cats won’t eat it, but the hedgehog in my garden devours between 200 and 300 grams every night. He handles it really well, is perfectly round, and will make it through the winter just fine.

Too much fat
Unfortunately, there are too many white streaks and clumps in it, which come from the fat. Otherwise, it’s well received, but I’d rather go back to higher-quality food.

Often half empty
Unfortunately, I'm not entirely convinced by the food. I often opened the tins and they didn't smell very appetising, plus they were half empty. My cats eat the food, but not exactly with much enthusiasm. Perhaps a manufacturing defect? I've now switched to a different food.

Fat pieces
The tomcat does eat the food, but there are some massive chunks of fat in the tin. I don’t find that particularly appealing and haven’t come across it in any other food before.

Tastes very good, lamb and poultry.
Great for trying out. Both of mine like poultry and lamb. I'll now order those individually.
None of the cats ate the beef, even though they usually like beef. I left out the fish beforehand for animal welfare reasons. They only like fish pure from Sheba.
Great price, and the food looks good even though it comes from a tin.
