Stopped eating it
My cat liked one can of this, but when he realised that was all he was going to get, he soon changed his mind. So now I'm out a lot of money that I could've used for my own food or vet bills. Why can't they make more than one flavour? This is ridiculous!

It’s taken a while!!!
My cat had to go on the thyroid diet. It’s been a bit of a struggle to get her to eat this, but after months of preserving we mush down a quarter of a can and sprinkle the dried food on top and she is now eating it. She’s putting on weight, no more sickness and looking and feeling much better!!
Awful like cardboard. The dry food is much better
There’s a reason they make you buy this in bulk. The tins are massive and the food looks like slightly damp cardboard. Our unfussy cat wouldn’t touch it and I don’t blame her! She gets on fine with the dry y/d food so I’m just annoyed we had to waste money buying a whole box of this rubbish. One can would’ve said to me don’t get any more!
Not wet
This food is very dry for what should be wet food. My cats won't eat it as they are used to the jelly/gravy from regular cat food
Life saver
My 18 year old tom has been a different cat since we introduced this food. He has regained some of the lost weight and is a lot more like his old self now. He is less hungry and a lot less thirsty. I use small amounts of the food throughout the day chopped into small mouth-sized pieces. This is easier for him than thinning it down with water. Without this food we wouldn't have him with us now.

My Cat Enjoys This Food But It Needs To Be Considerably Watered Down
The food seems to have kept my cat's interest over the last month or two. I am only now feeding her the Thyroid Care dry and wet foods.
Like other reviewers have mentioned, I water the wet food down considerably and chop it up finely, until it's in a medium soupy form and this seems to work for her. Once in this condition, you only need to add water and food to the bowl when necessary, for a while before changing.
Overall, her condition has improved dramatically since changing to this food.

Excellent but tins far too large and not the best consistency
The y/d cat food has, literally, saved my elderly cat's life. The food satisfies her hunger and she seems to enjoy eating it. Do NOT put down a normal quantity of food! Our cat eats a tiny portion at a time and if left out, I think it loses its scent and she will not eat it. Keep refrigerated between uses. Consistency could be better but overall, happy to have found a nutritional way to help prolong her life and with good quality of life, too.

Very good but smaller tins and perhaps a bit wetter.
This food (dry and wet) has, quite literally, saved my cat's life. She was diagnosed aged 13 with hyperthyroidism and we decided to use food to try to treat it. The food has to be used exclusively. My cat likes the soft food but we also feed her the dry y/d. She likes it but she only ever eats a tiny portion at a time. We refrigerate the rest and use over several days. If we put out too much, she will go back after the first sitting, but won't eat it. The consistency could be better.
Very pleased
This cat food made a huge difference to my cat who has had surgery first (worked for a couple of years) and tried medication for hyperthyroidism which made her so poorly, tried new diet, which she loves, and after 3wks calmed right down into a much happier cat. Very happy had this option

Sadly not for us
Sadly neither cat would eat this as they are used to Gourmet Pate! The dog's okay with it though!!!

Great Product
This food has brought my 14 year old girl’s thyroid levels down to normal range. Medication made her ill and I thought I was going to lose her at one point.
She gets half a tin per day and the dried version is in a separate bowl for munching through the night.
I split the portions into four and have found mixing with a bit of warm water to form a pâté is a winner. If it’s too thick or too cold she won't touch it. It is trial and error but worth it to see a poorly cat come back to life.

not eaten
My 17 year old Siamese will not eat this so called wet food!! She eats the dried food okay but just walks away from the canned food. i have tried warming, mixing with water etc all to no avail. have wasted money on these cans.

Trial and Error
When we first got this, she ate it ok but was often sick as it is a very thick food, we took her off it, then she started to lose a lot of weight again. So we now give her 1/4 of a tin 4 times a day, BUT, we mix in a small amount of water to it, so it isn't as dry for her to eat and has the texture of normal cat food, that has made an enormous difference, she is no longer sick, putting weight back on and the food is doing is job.

Excellent product
My vet advised me that my 15 year old cat had to eat NOTHING but Hills y/d cat food forever more. Buying my first few tins at the surgery brought me to search for other suppliers. I've found Zooplus prices the BEST. I experimented with the wet food for some time before I get the portions and the way I served them right. Tom would leave quite a bit in the bowl, and once it was a half day old would not touch it again. I now serve it in very small portions cut up into small chunks.

what a difference so far
My two 16 yr old sisters have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and kidney problem. Didn't want to use pills so are on this diet. Started mixing a little of their normal food with it and now they eat it without. They are looking much better and are not drinking so much - before they were always drinking. Mix with hot water as it is rather dry. Between them they eat one small tin a day. Am gong to try them on some dry as they were used to biscuit and think they miss it.

Glad this worked for some cats
Very happy to see these good reviews - but yd most definitely did not work for my cat - he was unbelievably sick & poorly from eating it. After spending £££ buying a stock of tins I threw them all away. Changed to Purina Renal which has been excellent.

Life saver
My cat was severely allergic to thyroid meds, went unmedicated for 2 years but his weight had dropped from 14lbs to 9lbs and I worried we would lose him soon. After 3 weeks on this diet he gained a 1lb, just had his T4 levels tested and he is now in normal range! couldn't be happier, wish I had tried this sooner. Really happy to be able to buy from Zooplus rather than vets - thank you!
It works and that's the main thing! More variety though please
Our boy had a leg amputated following bone cancer and is getting on, so when we discovered he was hyperthyroid we wanted to avoid surgery. Medication was a disaster, sick everywhere, and he looked awful, so we gave this a try and are so glad we did. OK it's really boring, but he eats the meat and crunchies happily every day. He's put weight back on and is much chirpier. But you MUST be rigid about not giving anything else except loads of water.

Amazing
My cat had gotten so poorly we were so worried she would die. We struggle to get her to take tablets so someone recommended this food. After just a week we could see a difference. Now she is back to her old, sometimes mischievous and annoying old self !!

good product, but smaller tin please!
The food is good, and saved my cat's life, and therefore I am grateful. But it seem to be good when it is fresh, after 1 day in the fridge my cat refuses to eat it. So lot of waste. A smaller tin would be so appreciated

Mediocre pâté, but he can't have anything else.
My cat has thyroid problems and can only eat food that's low in or free from iodine. From what I understand, the kibble and pâté I ordered are the only things he's allowed to eat. He finds it boring. The kibble is okay, but he doesn't like the pâté at all.

good food
The only product without iodine for a hyperthyroid cat who’s allergic to all the treatments. My complaint is that the pâté is very dense; I have to mash it up and make it softer before giving it to my cat, otherwise she won’t eat it.

A bit too thick, you need to add some water.

Excellent, the cat likes it – a miracle!
My cat is about 14 years old now, so she’s a senior – and she kept getting thinner and thinner. The vet found out she has an overactive thyroid. So began the search for iodine-free food… it was quite an odyssey, but I finally came across Hill’s. What luck, because Kitty actually likes it – even if it took a second try. It helps to mix the thick paste with one or two teaspoons of water! Honestly, I can hardly believe my luck and Kitty is looking really good again now.

The cat loves this product. I usually mix it with a bit of water and my kitty slurps it right up. Since the cat can't eat any other wet food because of its metabolism, this is a really great solution.

Get it done!
As soon as our little old man (cat "Jaro")—who will turn 19 on 13/05/2026—sees the can, he jumps up on the table and wants to prepare everything (medication + food) himself! True to the motto "hurry up and get on with it" or do I have to do everything myself :-) Afterwards, he dives into his bowl as if he hadn’t eaten in days.
