not suitable for tortoises
Please, please, please do not use this for your tortoises. The little darlings might try to nibble on it and, in the worst case, get it stuck between their jaws. This can have very serious consequences! Additionally, these wood chips can injure their organs if swallowed. So hands off!!!!!

4 Cockatiels in Bliss
I read online some time ago that beech wood shavings are very good for birds. At first, I was a bit unsure, but now... I'm thrilled... the four of them are having soooo much fun with the XXL pieces. They run around at the bottom of the cage, play with them, and nibble on them. Simply BRILLIANT.

Super good for gerbils
I have four gerbils and recently tried this bedding for the first time. I’m absolutely thrilled! For one, it hardly produces any dust (unlike wood shavings), which is great not only for my gerbils but also for me and my home. Plus, the gerbils always have something to nibble on, and I’ve often watched them busy gnawing away at the little wood pieces. If you add enough hay and straw, and maybe a small amount of wood shavings, it’s also perfect for digging and tunnelling! My gerbils and I are totally delighted! Best wishes!

Perfect for parrots!
Dust-free, absorbent, and still great for use – what more could you want?
Top quality and very affordable price.

Pointy little wooden pieces, such a shame!
Although I’m really impressed with the wood bedding, I noticed that there were sharp wooden splinters in it, which I had to pick out by hand to make sure my little ones didn’t get hurt.
I had ordered the medium grain size, but it turned out to be too fine. When the animals rush around the cage, the bedding gets thrown out.
I’ll give the XXL grain size a try next time.

Meeris
I use this bedding for my two guinea pigs. I find it very pleasant because it’s odourless, dust-free, and absorbs well. Both of them seem comfortable and happily race around, much to my dismay as it all ends up on the carpet. But it’s definitely recommendable!

Degus
For my dust-sensitive degu, it's great. Just a bit pricey.

Perfect for cockatiels
It doesn’t create dust, vacuums perfectly, and doubles as a toy! We’re thrilled!
Additionally, it’s easy to remove and is “drawer-friendly” – a real alternative to sand.
Don’t forget to add grit!!!!

Perfect for birds
Hello!
I think the BHG is fantastic. I have 4 budgies and 2 cockatiels, and I find it much better than sand. It doesn’t create dust, isn’t too heavy, can be thrown into the compost bin, is easy to spread, the birds play with it, and it looks nice.

not suitable for small animals
This bedding is definitely not suitable for rabbits or rats.
It's hard, doesn't absorb at all, and you have to be careful that they don't get splinters.
Honestly, I can't think of any animal for which this bedding would be suitable, or for which there isn't a better bedding option available.

There are better options for rats.
Doesn't suck very well, but at least it doesn't stick to the paws.

Not suitable for terrariums
Apart from looking somewhat attractive, this substrate has no positive qualities. It is not absorbent and quickly becomes mouldy and rotten. Moreover, it is life-threatening for the animals as it is very sharp-edged. I’ve seen plenty of reptiles whose insides were slashed open by beech wood because they accidentally ingested it.
Spend a bit more money on something worthwhile instead. The animals will thank you for it.

Super - also great for budgies
My two budgies love this bedding! They play with it while simultaneously trimming their beaks and claws.
I simply offer Vogeland additionally in a small dish.

Beech wood shavings as bedding for rodents
I tried the beech wood shavings on recommendation, as I had previously experienced that regular sawdust produces a lot of dust, which settles everywhere in the children's room.
This changed radically with the use of beech wood shavings.
Unfortunately, the product is somewhat less absorbent and more expensive.
So far, I have accepted this drawback for the sake of my child (less dust exposure).

Parrots
I tested this bedding and am relatively satisfied. Our parrot just about threw everything out of the cage (which he clearly enjoyed doing). Therefore, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this product for parrots. Otherwise, beech wood shavings are very hygienic and easier to handle than sand, as they don’t create as much dust.

Unique...
The value for money is especially good with the 25 kg option. The quality is the same as with the smaller bags from other manufacturers, who sometimes charge 5 - 6 DM for just 4 LITRES.
Anyone who owns a large terrarium will surely appreciate the price...
