Customers are impressed with the finely chopped beech shavings, which are dust-free and ideal for bird and small animal enclosures. The bedding is easy to maintain, binds droppings, and doesn't smell musty. While some find it less absorbent for urine, overall, it's praised for its quality and ease of use. Birds seem to enjoy playing with it, and it keeps cages cleaner for longer periods. Highly recommended for its pleasant smell and non-dusty nature.

...but never forget the sand!
I also use the beechwood chips and am convinced by the reduced mess and dust. However, saying "never again bird sand" is disastrous! Budgies and canaries absolutely need the shell grit and sand grains contained in the sand to grind and digest their food in the stomach. The enjoyable rummaging in the chips is nothing more than searching for grit. So always provide a dish (flowerpot saucer) with sand or a special bird grit (which unfortunately isn’t available at Zooplus)!

Bad for digging
I no longer use this substrate for my corn snakes. They have great difficulty burrowing into it. I’ll mix the remaining substrate with other ground material!

Perfect for gerbils too
Finally, something for them to gnaw on! Gerbils (and other rodents) love nothing more (unless they're sleeping, of course). I've been using the XXL bedding for quite a while now. The second advantage: no dust at all!

Perfect for my cockatiels
For some time now, I’ve only been using this product as bedding, and since then I haven’t had as much dust and sand in my flat. The smell has also reduced; it smells more like fresh wood rather than birds. However, you should place a dish of bird grit in the cage for the birds, as they absolutely need the small stones for their digestion.

Boundless enthusiasm!
This wood bedding is perfect for my birds and my nose. After a long search, I’ve finally found the right one. It’s so convenient that I can find everything I need at zooplus.

Also suitable for ferrets...
I use the XXL granules for my four ferrets because one of them has asthma and absolutely cannot tolerate any dust. And yes, it is completely dust-free – unlike all those other supposedly "dust-free" products.
It's less effective against odours, but regular cleaning of the litter box is a must anyway. You do end up using more compared to other bedding, as the contents need to be completely replaced more often.
Still, I wouldn't want to switch to anything else... :)

Joy for budgies and for me
Our two budgies are very happy with the bedding. And I’m especially thrilled because ever since I started using it, there’s significantly less mess around the birdcage. Plus, our two love rummaging around in the bedding. So, both pet and owner are happy – what more could you want?!

Super product
I mix it with the Chipsi pet bedding for my gerbils, and they love it, especially the young ones. When they have their teeth, they enjoy nibbling on it.

Almost 100 percent...
For our ratties, it's absolutely fine. Much better than the "normal" sawdust and also available in the right size to buy.
The only downside:

I'm satisfied
I only use BH granules to sprinkle my birds now (minerals etc. are provided separately). I'm satisfied with the "Medium" bedding, and my "feathered friends" love it.

Very good product!
Doesn't create dust, odourless, and my birds (2 cockatiels and 2 Bourke's parrots) absolutely love it. Much better than sand! And above all, it's easier for us users to clean and dispose of!

Absolutely brilliant!
We also switched from bird sand to beech wood granules and are absolutely thrilled with it, as it no longer creates dust and our two budgies have so much fun with the bedding in the cage and on the perch. There were absolutely no issues with the transition, and sand and grit are provided in a separate bowl! Brilliant stuff.

Never anything else!!!!!
It’s a joy to watch the birds playing with the wood shavings.
They’ve gratefully accepted it.
No more dusty bird sand, and you hang up limestone anyway.
The price/performance ratio is spot on!
All I can say is: Go on, buy it now!

Very good
I've been using the beech wood shavings for over 3 years now, and my two dwarf rabbits feel completely at ease in them. No dust, no smell, just brilliant!

Pretty and very practical
This bedding is perfect for my gerbils, as together with regular small animal bedding, they can now build large caves and all sorts of tunnels throughout their entire tank. The beech wood shavings greatly support the durability of the tunnels and caves and also look very nice. Additionally, they have a natural woody scent and do a great job of neutralising odours.

Perfect for lazy people :-)
I use the wood shavings for my four budgies (extra sand tray) and the guinea pigs. After cleaning, they don’t end up in the compost but go straight under the roses. It suppresses weed growth and fertilises the plants.

Much better than bird sand!
A few years ago, I built an aviary for my birds (currently 4 budgies and 4 Bourke's parrots). Initially, I used coarse bird sand, which, with a base area of 50 x 150 cm, required quite a lot and created terrible dust when completely replaced. Plus, lugging it home wasn’t exactly pleasant...
Then I switched to maize granules, which were much more manageable in terms of weight. However, due to their round shape, they were hard to sweep up, and the vacuum cleaner also struggled with them.
Eventually, I heard about beechwood granules and decided to try the medium grain size.
Apart from the fact that it hardly creates any dust, it also looks much more attractive.
The only downside was that it was almost impossible to find in regular pet shops. And although it’s significantly lighter than sand, the packaging was considerably larger.
Luckily, I’ve since discovered Zooplus for delivery, and now I can order 2 x 50-litre bags – with shipping costs of €3.90 to Austria, it’s absolutely reasonable, and it lasts me several months!
Another great thing is that we can compost the bedding along with the "guano" on our own compost heap.
Never going back to anything else!

Recommended for parrots
I use this bedding for my cockatoo lady's cage and am very satisfied with it. However, I’ve only purchased the XXL granules, so unfortunately I can’t comment on the finer version. The quality of the bedding has always been impeccable.
