Customers are impressed with the finely chopped beech shavings, which are dust-free and ideal for bird and small animal enclosures. The bedding is easy to maintain, binds droppings, and doesn't smell musty. While some find it less absorbent for urine, overall, it's praised for its quality and ease of use. Birds seem to enjoy playing with it, and it keeps cages cleaner for longer periods. Highly recommended for its pleasant smell and non-dusty nature.

Ordered the wrong litter
I ordered 15 kg of Chipsi Extra beechwood shavings with medium grain for our rabbit. Unfortunately, they don’t absorb the urine.

Not a good experience with tortoises.
The wood chips were partially eaten by my tortoise, which is certainly unhealthy. Additionally, the hard, small chips stuck firmly to the sensitive penis when urinating and were not wiped off when retracting it, but remained attached, which must have been very painful. I will not be using these beech wood chips again.

not suitable for tortoises
Please, please, please do not use this for your tortoises. The little darlings might try to nibble on it and, in the worst case, get it stuck between their jaws. This can have very serious consequences! Additionally, these wood chips can injure their organs if swallowed. So hands off!!!!!

not suitable for small animals
This bedding is definitely not suitable for rabbits or rats.
It's hard, doesn't absorb at all, and you have to be careful that they don't get splinters.
Honestly, I can't think of any animal for which this bedding would be suitable, or for which there isn't a better bedding option available.

Not suitable for terrariums
Apart from looking somewhat attractive, this substrate has no positive qualities. It is not absorbent and quickly becomes mouldy and rotten. Moreover, it is life-threatening for the animals as it is very sharp-edged. I’ve seen plenty of reptiles whose insides were slashed open by beech wood because they accidentally ingested it.
Spend a bit more money on something worthwhile instead. The animals will thank you for it.
