Dietetic food for cats suffering with digestive tract illnesses, such as acute or chronic diarrhoea, with an increased energy content and FOS, MOS, EPA and DHA to support digestive health.
The digestive tract is your cat's most sensitive organ, so many felines suffer with related health issues, with chronic diarrhoea and vomiting being the most prevalent symptoms. A long-term change of diet can often be the best option and this Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Cat - Gastro Intestinal has been specially developed to meet the needs of cats with such digestive problems, with an increased energy density that allows for smaller portions, thus removing pressure from the digestive tract.
The fermentable fibres (FOS) in this wet food help keep your cat’s digestive system working regularly, while simultaneously supporting a balanced intestinal flora. The protein content has been formulated to be easily digestible, so the stomach and intestine are not overloaded. Common side effects of gastrointestinal disorders are weight loss and loss of appetite. Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Cat - Gastro Intestinal wet food offers a highly palatable flavour to satisfy any decreased appetites, while the EPA and DHA long-chain fatty acids offer support to the digestive system.
Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Cat - Gastro Intestinal at a glance:
High digestive security: highly digestible protein to minimise the intestinal fermentation processes, with fermentable fibres (FOS) to support a balanced intestinal flora
Increased energy content: the high energy density allows you to feed your cat smaller portions, helping to remove strain from the digestive tract
High acceptance: cats with digestive disturbances can suffer with a loss of appetite and weight loss, so this food has a highly palatable flavour to encourage nutrient intake and recovery
EPA/DHA: eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) are long-chain omega-3 fatty acids that can help to support gut health.
Further information: Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Cat - Gastro Intestinal is a complete diet food for cats to compensate for maldigestion, with highly-digestible protein and a tailored fat content. It is free from wheat gluten and lactose.
My cat of 16, was having awful trouble with diarrhoea, and the vet recommmended this food. I have persisted with it, oaccasionally with chicken and rice as well, and have to say that he seems to have recovered completely. It took a while and will keep some of this food in stock. I have a younger cat that has just started a similar problem and vet has suggested this food, and already there's an improvement.

Great product
My vet recommended trying this for my 15 week old kitten due to her very frequent, loose and smelly stools. Within two days she was a very different kitten. More energy and thankfully normal stools. She didn't like the kitten version unfortunately and now I am struggling to get her to eat anything else

Excellent GI Food
Very tasty to the cat but as with gravy they can just lick it off. Not offence in odour.

The Best Food Ever!!!
My cat BSH cream male has had so many sicknesses for 1 year now. Vets didn't know what his problem was for a while.... From antibiotics, to constipation, to ear infection, to bowel smell...throw ups... digestion.. name it all.. until the vet gave probiotics only 3 days course he was well. So She said, why don't you try Royal Canin Gastro... and you know what? my boy loves it. He is eating, (touch wood) and he has great bathroom, he can digest, and he feels his appetite is back! Thanks so much!!!

Perfect for my new kittens
My kittens suffered from severe dihorea for several weeks. Started them on this and it worked a treat. Slowly weaned them onto their normal food but really help out with a messy situation.

Perfect for my cats
My youngest kitten came to us with a nasty parasite (do not ask how the breeder allowed this to happen)! This causes severe diarrhoea. We tried a number of products but this is product is fabulous. She is almost entirely asymptotic now and, whilst a fussy eater, enjoys the small chunks. I agree with an earlier reviewer that it would be great to stock more flavours (if they have others?) as she can get a bit bored. Can't recommend highly enough!!!!

Healthy growth
When we got our kitten Ernest we soon realised that he had digestive problems. As a tiny kitten he could empty a room with his wind and the tray was even worse. With this he has managed to grow normally and put on weight. He never had a tubby kitten belly and I wish we had found this sooner. He still needs the extra calories and I think he always will. He's the most expensive cat I have ever had but he is so full of energy and entertaining that we would never swap him for the world.

Good quality but not that appetising...
This is a great product with a really low calorie content, but I can't really say it appeals to my 2 cats... I think they really just ate it out of desperation. The sterilised version is much better, in my opinion - it's got a higher calorie content but it seems to taste better.

Royal Diabetic - nice food, good blood sugar levels
My cat's blood sugar is much better since she's been eating this food. There are even days when I don't have to inject her. I really recommend this!

fabulous food
My really picky 13 year old cat was diagnosed with Pancreatitis last year. He had a really tough time getting well and lost more than a kilo. This food is a god send and has been keeping his flare ups to a minimum - amazing food would highly recommend.

Great!
I'm pleasantly surprised,. My cat wasn't really fat but I wanted to prevent it going further. You know what it's like: When they're kittens you give them a little something when they ask for it and that's a mistake that I'm learning from now! Luckily he likes this food.

Agrees with my cat
My cat likes eating this food and it agrees with her (no more diarrhoea since we changed her to this), so I'd recommend it.

For post operative recovery
Following a major operation, my veterinary surgeon gave me a pack of 4 pouches of Royal Canin Veterinary Diet - Gastro Intestinal to feed my cat whilst she recovers. She is elderly and weighs just 3.2 kgs. The recommended feeding amount for this weight is 2.25 pouches per day and it is recommended that she continues with this diet for 2 - 3 weeks. My little one loves it and it's so heartening to see her enjoying her food. THANK YOU Zooplus for making it available.
