It was a hassle setting it up on my own, and the instructions were a bit too dumbed down to be clear. They're advertised as fully adjustable in both height and width. However, no matter how much i pull the vertical bars, they won't budge. My 5 month old Border Collie honed in on the gap either side and got halfway into the backseat. I may just have dud bars or I'm missing something glaringly obvious (again instructions too dumbed down to really help). Other than that, it is really sturdy!

This just about did the job, but was never as secure as I would have liked. The horizontal bars also shuffled towards the centre when driving. Not a problem for me as my dog doesn't really try to get into the front anyway, but would be if you had a dog with some determination.
