Popular, but runs out quickly
My three cats love this scratching post more than any other scratching options we have. However, after a year, it's completely worn out now—the sisal is shredded to bits, and we need to replace it. Since the cats like it so much, we'll probably buy it again.

Quality of product changed
I bought this scratchpost once before in 2016.. it was amazing.. took the weight of a 10kg Mainecoon no problem and lasted until early 2020 with constant use from 7 cats small to large.. I have purchased it again in 2020, the price was £46.99 (now showing at £39.99 again).. the post is thinner, the sisal ropes are also thinner and not wound as tight so it is showing signs of wear and tear already, this time only my own 5 smaller cats using it.. there is gaps between the rope binding too..

Doesn't last
Was really pleased with this at first as it was nice and tall and seemed really sturday. Unfortunately my small Siamese cat has already torn the sisal covering apart after less than a year so not as strong as it looks.

1 1/2 years and now broken
All in all, the scratching post is great. It didn’t have a strange smell upon delivery, was very well received, and seemed very sturdy. The sisal has naturally shifted a bit and become roughened, but the real issue is that the base plate is broken. The entire post is, of course, unstable, so unfortunately it has to g.o.! Such a shame!

Sturdy tree with a nasty smell
The tree is very sturdy, and my two tomcats use it for scratching and stretching out, though they don’t climb on it and, oddly enough, aren’t interested in the dangling bits... What stood out to me very negatively is the strong smell of the column – that’s just unacceptable.
The cats still use it, so I’m keeping it.

Chem. / unpleasant smell still there even after months!
I ordered this scratching post in December and, after airing it out for about a week, made it available to my cats. As long as all my windows are closed, humans don’t notice the smell at all. However, when airing out the room (even with a bit of a draft), the unpleasant smell still occasionally hits me. I don’t even want to imagine what my cats have to smell every day!
I can therefore only recommend this product for weather-protected outdoor areas.
Now, after a good 8 months: The overall enthusiasm is limited—only one of my two cats uses it. It’s suitable for scratching and stretching out, but the attached toy has never really been played with in my home. The post itself is very sturdy and, apart from a few loose rows (the sisal is wrapped horizontally around the post), it’s still in very good condition. However, the unpleasant smell persists!
