Insights from real Pet Parents

AI-generated summary based on reviews added by customers

Cats seem to love Royal Canin Digestive food, with many owners noting improvements in their pets' digestive health and overall happiness. However, some have experienced issues with the recent kibble size change, leading to cats swallowing without chewing and subsequent sickness. Despite this, many still find the product effective for sensitive tummies and continue using it, hoping for a return to the original kibble size. Overall, it's a popular choice among cat owners.

Excellent dry food

My 3 Maine Coons love this dry food so much I have to make sure they stay within the daily allowance. It has also helped one of them considerably as she has digestive problems and used to make a mess in the litter tray. Firmer poos now so highly recommended for any cat with a similar problem.

They all love this

All 4 seem to enjoy this but if I buy the bigger bags they tend to go off it before the end of the bigger bags!

RC what have you done??

Our 2 cats are 11 years old and up until August/September 2025, all was going well. They are half persian and have delicate tummies. They had RC Kittten Digestive food & moved to Adult Digestive food in 2016. Both are now wolfing down the food and sick within minutes - 2 x sick each time is a horrible experience for us all. We have 2 x2kg bags that have to be used up but have cancelled any re-orders! Presently soaking kibble in water prior to feeding, very hit and miss!

No good since kibble size changed

Used to love this product but since it changed in kibble size my shorthairs just wolf it down without chewing. As another reviewer noted, I now give my cats the BSH kibbles instead, which are a good size but if I give them more than a tiny amount, they are sick. I wish you'd go bsck to the original size which was perfect for their tummies and for chewing.

Very good

Sorted out cats digestive issues. Firm poos and less smelly.

Transformative!

My 19-year-old boy has gone from starting to have dandruff, with severe and painful constipation and a general sluggishness around a month ago to being spritely again, having dandruff-free fur and 'healthy poos' after only around a week or so on this food! It's like 10 (people years!) have been taken off his life - his eyes are so bright, he's running around like a kitten again and he's as soft as a bunny! I'm a stunned but very happy Cat Mama! Here's to another good few years...

Cat say Scrummy !

All our cats have been enjoying this Digestives food, I decided to trial it and glad to say it was a hit!

Solved the issue!

Really happy with this! Tried lots of different foods for my Reggie's runny poos and this one has done the trick. Keeps his weight stable too.

Kibble size changed

This was a great product until the kibble size and shape changed. I no longer buy it as my 2 BSH cats just wolf it down without chewing. It was perfect before when it was flat with a hole in the middle. Now it's just like any other small kibble. I use the Royal Canin BSH kibble as well but this is not so good for my cat with sensitive stomach - she is frequently sick if I give her more than a tiny amount of these.

The only food my ragdoll’s tummy can handle!

I’ve tried countless brands and different types of wet and dry food over the years but this one is the only one that consistently gives good results and keeps my cat happy and comfortable. On any other brand, she’s having straight up diarrhoea, but this brand clears it up straight away. I’ve learned to just stick to this and the digestive care wet food is okay but I’m trying out the gastrointestinal wet one at the moment.

Royal Canin Digestive care

My two bengal cross cats had sensitive stomachs when they were very young and were frequently sick. Since they have been having this food they have had no problems. They are now 6 years old and I wouldn't give them any other dry food.

Excellent Food for my cats !

I’ve been buying Royal Canin food for my cats for a number of years now. One of my boys has a sensitive tummy so the digestive care food is great for him. They both love it !

Brilliant. Worked a. treat 👍

Big, neutered male Selkirk Rex had gut issues, runny with occasional bleeding. Switched from packet foods to RCanin Digestive and went to normal within a matter of days. It is correct that there is a significant reduction in his use of the cat litter tray which is handy as he is a 'biffer' eating accordingly. Regular vet checks confirm his good health, perfect weight (he is naturally a big cat) and all digestive issues gone. He's never tired of the biscuits, happy without turning his nose up.

Great product

My cat who has IBS and a delicate stomach would only eat this as dry food to complement Hills biome

Why change the kibble size!!!!

I took me ages to find the right food for my cat, who had stomach issues. I found this ages ago. But since the change in kibble size, he is often sick. The kibble sizes are smaller now, same size as other brands. Which means he can woof it down!!! I still buy the brand. But so wish for it to be back to the bigger kibbles. I've brought him a slow feeder bowl. So I'm hoping that will help him not woofing it down and then sick it all up 🤞🤞

Great product

Excellent value

Problems with kibble change

My two cats have been on this food for 6 and 5 years with no issues. Since the kibble size changed (possibly formula as well?) they refuse to chew the kibble, swallow it whole and are regularly sick. Had to exclude it from their diet which is a major headache as not found anything else that totally agrees with them. Why change something that worked perfectly fine? Bad move Royal Canin.

Not digestive

My cats that have loose stools have been eating this for 3 weeks and it's made no difference Still very loose, still going 5 or 6 tines a day all over the house! It's a legal scam .. don't waste you're money!

Cats have gone off these

She nice the change in recipe and shape we gave noticed a gradual change in our cats They used to eat the biscuits all the time they only had dry food. But they kept leaving them and we have had to introduce wet food and other dry food alternatives. They still eat the biscuits and since we have introduced wet food they only get the digestive biscuits as one of our cats had bowel surgery and I hope the digestive brand is better for her. I wish the recipe had not been changed.

Favourite beads

Digestive Care is the only variety from the Royal Canin range (and many other brands) that he likes in the long run. The others either he doesn’t like, or he likes them once and that’s it. :))

Overpriced and causes bad breath

I've given this product to my cat for years for his digestive issues, but unfortunately it causes terrible bad breath. Given the constant price increases as well, I switched to a made-in-Italy alternative.

2-year-old cat with digestion problems

My little 2-year-old cat used to eat supermarket kibble and was vomiting very often, which worried me. After a quick visit to the vet, I learned that he was having trouble digesting, so following their advice I bought Royal Canin anti-gastric kibble. Since then, he doesn’t vomit anymore and takes his time chewing them. I recommend this for cats with sensitive digestion.

Excessive Price Increase of the Product

Good product, but the price increase is unacceptable. At the start of 2026, it cost €98.49 for 10 kilos and now it costs €122!!!! I won’t be buying it again.

Good

The food helped my cat with diarrhoea straight away. However, I find the shape of the food a bit problematic, as my cat has trouble eating it. The wet food of the same variety is hardly touched by my cat.

Excellent quality

For 9 years, my Persian cats have enjoyed this product. One of them was intolerant to an animal protein, so we switched to the digestive one. Top 😉🤤

Food was good

The food is their favourite, so as always – both cats really appreciate it. But the bag had a big hole right in the middle, almost like someone had cut it with a sharp razor blade. It's a shame, since it's a big 10 kg bag of food that needs to be stored for quite a while without going stale. I glued it as best I could so air doesn't get in.
