BABY POWDER *STINK* NOT SCENT
The "baby powder" scent from this litter is overwhelming. I live in a flat and every time the cat uses her tray it's not an issue of pee or solid smells, it's the actual powder scent that overwhelms the place. It stinks to high heavens and has woken me up during the night! The cat stinks of it for an hour after she's used the tray. If you have any kind of delicate sense of smell, avoid like the plague. It is not a fresh, clean powder scent, it is overly sweet, dusty, cloying and awful.
Having said that, buy the non-scented version of this same litter and it is FANTASTIC! I've worked out that the best way to use it and get the most from the litter is to 1. use a deep tray and fill it with at least two thirds of the bag, probably at least 15cm/6 inches thick. This way, the wet solidifies before it ever reaches the bottom of the tray, leaving a solid lump in the litter which is very easy to scoop. 2. Very important, use a very fine litter scoop, the white fine mesh scoop on this site is perfect. This makes the biggest difference as it filters out ALL the little soiled bits that otherwise sneak back into the clean litter. So your litter is constantly clean if you scoop it well. 3. Scoop each day. If you follow these directions, you barely ever need to empty the tray to wash it, or throw away any litter. Just top the litter up as it goes down a bit. One bag of this litter lasts my cat 3 months, staying fresh all the way through.
