Customers are thrilled with the lead's durability, comfort, and quality. It's praised for handling strong dogs and wet conditions well, though some find the clips too large for smaller dogs. The lead's leather softens beautifully with use, and the adjustable length is a bonus. However, concerns include rivet issues and excessive width for smaller dogs. Overall, the lead is considered a great value, with many willing to repurchase despite minor drawbacks.

The previous one lasted nearly 10 years

Just ordered a second one after almost a decade of using the first one! Really glad it's still in stock and hope the quality remained. Used it for 3 strong lurchers, two of them pullers, also used the second clip to have another dog on it when needed. It coped with everything. One of the rivets got loose ages ago but fixed it and used it for many more years.

Super stable - great feel - and it's beautiful too

I've been using the lead for about 3 months now with my 3-year-old, 45kg male dog (Labrador-Rottweiler mix - with poor impulse control when spotting wildlife), and I feel very confident about its tear resistance – and my dog has already charged full force into the lead several times... Even when wet, it feels very comfortable and secure in the hand. When completely soaked (due to heavy, persistent rain), the lead does slightly stain the hand. I've already had to order the lead multiple times for friends and acquaintances.

The lead is absolutely brilliant! I ordered it because my dog (Jack Russell) is getting a bit older now, but I still want to have her close to me in case of an emergency :) I can easily sling it over my shoulder and have both hands free. The quality is also very good!

I don’t want any other lead.

The lead feels fantastic in the hand, the leather quickly becomes beautifully soft and can withstand quite a lot: wetness, chewing, dirt... The clips are nice and large, sturdy, and more than sufficient for my 20kg dog. My piece does have a few scratches and scuffs from daily use, but leather can handle that well, and it doesn’t bother me at all! I’d buy it again in a heartbeat.

Lovely lead with a detachable carabiner

This lead has been in use with me for a few months now, and I quite like using it. My biggest plus point is the detachable carabiner at the lower end. Anyone with a white dog is probably familiar with the problem of ugly discoloured fur in the rain. This can be avoided here by attaching the lead directly to the collar and leaving out the carabiner. My only downside is that the lead has stretched on one side and lost some of its width, even though my dog isn’t a puller.

Did not meet expectations

The lead makes a good impression visually. However, after just a few days of normal use, the first rivet already tore out. That's why it only gets a "poor" rating from me.

Shame

Such a shame about the lovely lead. I ordered it in April, and now in June, the first rivet has torn.

It's alright...

Processing is fine, the carabiner is replaceable, but the lead is far too wide!! I have a 30 kg and a 53 kg dog, who sometimes act up and are not so easy to handle. But this lead is definitely too wide... maybe necessary for dogs over 65 kg, but definitely not needed for all others. I’ll go back to 1 cm or 1.5 cm wide leather leads... that’s enough! Otherwise, as mentioned, the lead is fine, just the width is simply oversized.

Worth the money

This lead is really worth the money. For just under €17, I got a long and sturdy leather lead. It's perfect for my 27 kg male dog, though for dogs under 20 kg it might be less suitable due to the large clip, but you could potentially swap it out. The lead is very soft, and the hand loop is pleasantly large. I'm thrilled and glad I ordered one for both of my dogs straight away.

4 years in use

I bought the lead here in 2012. It's too long for walking a dog, in my opinion. That's why I always use it when I have larger visiting dogs. I clip two dogs (my shepherd and, for example, a guest dog like a Malinois) to each end and hold the lead in the middle. This way, it has the perfect length for me. So far, it has withstood all strains without any issues. For my other 10kg dog, I find the lead too heavy.

home lead

Not suitable for a large, pulling young dog. You get the feeling the lead isn't tear-resistant.

Highly recommended

Given the relatively low price, I was initially sceptical about the workmanship, quality, and appearance of the lead, but the product has truly exceeded my expectations. It's sturdy, practical (since it's adjustable), and even during "close combat"... my dog likes to test the quality orally himself sometimes :-)... it holds up well.

Solid lead for a battle dachshund

For our dachshund, the lead is almost perfect. What I love most is the length, as most leather leads are a maximum of 2m, which is too short for me. The extra 40cm on this lead really makes a difference, and it’s become one of my favourite leads! So why only 4 stars and "almost perfect"? Firstly: For small dogs, the lower clip for attaching to the collar/harness is almost embarrassingly large. ;) However, you can easily remove and replace it thanks to the clasp, if you want to (I haven’t done so yet). The other issue is the same "problem" as with the Heim collar: One edge of the lead is quite sharp, while the other is pleasantly soft. But for the price, that’s nitpicking at a high level – I’d still buy the lead again anytime!

Nothing to complain about!!

I walk a 6-year-old, 50 kg heavy HSH (70 cm shoulder height) daily with this lead and have nothing to complain about. Since HSHs, due to their breed, display very strong territorial behaviour with increased aggression (often), my dog occasionally "lunges at the lead." So far, no signs of material fatigue. A bit of leather care now and then, which every lead deserves, and everything is perfect. The price is unbeatable anyway.

Shame

We have a silver Labrador. He is now 11 months old and weighs about 35kg!!! He’s also currently in his discovery phase, which requires intensive training to steer this phase in the right direction. For a young dog who wants to test his strength, unfortunately, this lead is not the right choice. With one strong tug, the lead snapped when he was tied to a tree for training purposes. If the dog is calmer and easier to handle, it’s great. It feels good in the hand and has an excellent length. And the price is spot on too.

Actually a great lead, but...

The lead is great in itself. It felt good in the hand and gave a very sturdy impression overall. And that brings us to the issue: unfortunately, it’s not sturdy. After less than 3 months, the rivets are already coming loose – not well made. This might also be due to the size and weight of our dog. So, definitely not suitable for dogs with a lot of strength (63cm shoulder height, approx. 35kg). That’s why only 2 stars. Additional stitching might help.

Super lead

I ordered the lead for our guard dog Rocky. I'm very happy with it. At first, I was a bit unsure whether the lead would hold up at all, since Rocky, as a guard dog, is really strong. But it holds up brilliantly – definitely recommend it!

Rust

I bought this lead in black and, all in all, I like using it – but what I noticed recently is that the rivets on the inside have started to rust quite badly, and I don’t think that’s acceptable after about 2 months. They should be made from a different material.

Super item!

I think the leash from Heim is simply brilliant! My dog and I are very happy with it and can only recommend it! It’s very sturdy, easily withstands the occasional pulling from my little one, the various size adjustments are great, and in my opinion, it’s a thousand times better than a Flexi leash. At first, I had some concerns because the leash is a bit heavier compared to the Flexi leash and seemed more suited for larger dogs (my little one weighs 12 kg and is 40 cm tall), but Pina gets along with it perfectly and has behaved much better since then, i.e., pulls less, etc. My conclusion: I’d buy it again anytime, no ifs or buts!
