Versele-Laga Oropharma Eye Care Lotion helps you to care for your pet’s eyes. The eyes of your dog or cat are highly sensitive organs which require a degree of care and attention. Cats in particular are extremely reliant on their eyesight.Dogs and cats produce tears in order to keep their eyes moist. Sometimes these tears can mat and stain the hair surrounding the eyes, drying into the fur and causing the hair around the eyes to become sticky, matted and discoloured. To avoid this, regular cleaning with a bespoke product is recommended.
Versele Laga Oropharma Eye Care lotion is a non-reactive cleaning lotion developed specially for dogs and cats. The non-reactive lotion is made from natural plant extracts. The formula is based on Cornflowers (Centaurea Cyanus) that have been used in eye care for their soothing properties.
The gentle formulation makes Oropharma ideal for gently removing tear stains and sleep from your pet’s eyes. The lotion has no effect on the pet’s fur, so it maintains its colour and shine.

Used for 12 years for 2 Sacred Birmans
I use the "not strongly scented" but extremely effective lotion on cotton pads for my two tomcats, who always have crusts in their eyes, and one of them also has inflammations. Highly recommended, no other eye cleansers have been so well accepted!!!
In 2024, both will stay in my cat boarding facility for 4 months due to water damage repairs in my flat. Ordered extra for this, totally thrilled and recommended it to other cat owners.

Not recommended
The product has an overly strong smell. My dog bolted immediately when I tried to clean the area around his eyes. My hands still smelled of the solution hours later. Unfortunately, I can't comment on the cleaning effectiveness, as no cleaning actually took place. A less intense smell would be better.

You could just use water for that.
I find it strange that there are no instructions on the bottle; I had to go back to Zoo Plus to look them up. On top of that, the stuff smells like fabric softener – why does it smell so strong? It's supposed to be for dogs with sensitive noses, and it doesn't work at all. The crust around the eyes doesn't come off any better than with water. There are products out there that work much better.

Does what it promises. My tomcat often struggled with conjunctivitis, so to prevent it, I regularly clean his eyes with this product. So far, there's nothing to complain about :)

This has ingredient Sodium Laureth Sulfate
The same ingredient to make our human shampoo frothy. It can cause skin irritation in cats so why would putting this in an eye care product where its such a senstive area a good idea?!

Intense smell
The product has a very intense smell, which I personally find quite unpleasant.
The cleaning performance is fine, and my young poodle is just as (un)willing to have his eyes cleaned with this as with other cleaners.
I really like the bottle with the pump mechanism. A fair amount comes out at once, but since I like to have my cloth properly damp, this is ideal for me.
However, the smell is very hard for me to tolerate, which is why I unfortunately won’t be buying this product again.

Very strongly scented cleaner!
Why does this product have so many positive reviews? We can't understand it.
Our three cream-coloured Persians require daily eye cleaning. As soon as the cleaner is dropped onto the Q-tips, they all run for cover. We've never had these issues with fragrance-free cleaners. This cleaner has an overpowering smell of flowers/baby powder or something similar. The cleaning performance is also disappointing. It doesn't remove crusts or discolouration as expected.
For us, it's a flop.

Does what it’s supposed to.
I've been using this lotion for almost a month now on my Persian cat (he doesn't have tear ducts). The lotion helps, and his eyes have looked cleaner since I started using it. I also feel like they're watering less now. The scent is pleasant to me, but my cat absolutely hates it. It's perfectly fine to use the lotion only every other day after the first two weeks, or as needed. Unfortunately, it's not always easy to dose properly.

We are thrilled 🐈
We've been using the lotion for many months now and are absolutely thrilled. Our Persian cat lets us clean its eyes with it without any fuss. The brown stains in the fur around the eyes almost completely disappear with it. The eyes don't water as quickly anymore. The lotion smells very pleasant.

Simple tear stone removal
Our cat has had a watery eye since an injury as a kitten, which needs to be cleaned regularly to prevent any stickiness. Our dog also has issues with watery eyes and tear stains that leave unsightly marks on the fur. With this eye lotion, the eyes can be cleaned well, and even stubborn tear stains and discolouration can be removed easily and quickly. Would buy again anytime.

Works
The first bottle is now running low, and I have to say, I’m really positively surprised. With regular use, it genuinely helped counteract the brownish discolouration on my Shih Tzu mix. Admittedly, the fur doesn’t become pure white with this either, but that doesn’t bother me, as you can still see a noticeable difference compared to before. I would definitely buy the product again.

Crusts and dirt, yes; discolouration, no
My tomcat has scarred tear ducts and therefore gets crusts under his eyes every day. He likes the smell of the eye lotion (I do too, by the way). I always let him sniff it, and he already knows what's coming and lets me clean him. The crusts are reliably removed with a bit of soaking. My tomcat is beige, and the product can't remove the discolouration.

Let's wait and see...
I bought this product for my Shih Tzu mix because he always has very heavy eye discharge, which causes the fur under his eyes to turn completely brown. I'm still quite sceptical about its effectiveness, but the scent is definitely a positive—it smells very pleasant. Everything else remains to be seen. If it works, I'll be happy to repurchase.

thrilled
I’m absolutely thrilled with this product. Unfortunately, my Persian cat belongs to the dreadful "no nose" breed and suffers from excessive tearing with corresponding discolouration. I’ve already tried two other products with moderate success. With Eye Care, daily grooming is a breeze. The scent is wonderful for my nose, and apparently for the cat’s nose too, because if she doesn’t like something, she makes it very clear with loud protests and wild gestures ;-)
