Hill's Prescription Diet Canine k/d Kidney Care

My dog is unpredictable about eating now she’s older - sometimes she gobbles her food down and other times leaves it to be thrown away hours later! The wet food is ideal to hide tablets in and I mix wet and dry food together for her evening meal.

Just started using prescription diet for my dog who has stage 1 kidney disease. She has taken to the kibble very well but she's not over enthusiastic about this tinned food. It does look rather bland when you open it. I have since found another brand of tinned renal food on Zooplus which is much more interesting to look at and I am pleased to say that the dog seems to enjoy it. I will be ordering that one instead from now on.

Solid unappetising lump in a tin. The picture makes it look more like a stew, but it isn't. It's a hard cylinder of 'food' - quite pricey and a total waste of money. The dog hates it and I don't blame him!

Our 14 year old collie cross started to drink more and wee more. Tests showed him to have kidney disease and so we tried Hills k/d wet food which he eats without problems and has been on it for about a 2 months. He is drinking less and not having problems getting through the night without weeing anymore. The high quality protein seems to have had a beneficial effect on his weakening back legs too, improving mobility slightly, so very happy.

My dog does like this but gets really fed up with the same flavour. Does it come in another flavour? Can anyone recommend another product with other flavours? My dog does have kidney disease. Thank you

my 14 year old border collie was diagnosed with kidney disease, so were advised by the vets to try K/D from hills. he has been on half wet, half dry for the last 3 months. at his last blood test we were told that his levels had all gone back down to the top of normal. what a relief. the service from zooplus and delivery are also brilliant. win win all around.

The formulation of this meat seemed to change recently, but both dogs still always eat it all up first time. It has also had a positive effect on kidney function within a few months for both dogs. Zooplus are cheaper than anywhere else and delivery is quick.

Via routine blood tests we found out that both our dogs had high creatinine levels, so the vet suggested changing their diet to a kidney protecting diet. We firstly bought the Hills Kidney diet food from the vet, but then found it MUCH cheaper at Zooplus. Within a couple of months of eating this food (they still, had some Normal treats too!) both of our dogs had reduced creatinine levels (top of normal range). We have kept feeding them a mix of the dry & wet food & kept buying it at Zooplus

Prescribed by the vet for my older dog who is losing kidney function. Good product which he eats with some of the dry product mixed in. Delivered on time by a friendly driver.

My dog eats it, but he’s not picky. Consistency: it’s actually quite easy to get out of the can and mash up, more like mousse. Because of that, it seems less wholesome and watered down. Also, the smell is very unpleasant.
