Mid

I heard really good things about this bedding, gave it to my gerbils to help them hold their burrows, it was incredibly dusty and has caused one of my gerbils to have an itchy nose. Please be careful with this.

One of my faves

A great bedding option, when compacted it holds burrows well and is good value for money. It creates a stable and flat base for set ups too, ideal for older rodents

Not worth the hype

This bedding is known for ‘holding burrows’ it absolutely does not hold the burrows. Completely collapses. don’t waste your money.

My rat isn’t allergic to this bedding

I’ve tried several different bedding types, but they’ve all irritated my rat’s skin, where she will scratch herself so much she will bleed. That has all cleared up with this bedding.

Safe and good value

Safe spruce shavings for gerbils unlike many others which are pine. Good price and I personally like the size of the 60L bags, compared to the massive 350L bags you can get. Just more manageable to handle and store. I use about 3 or 4 bags in my tank. Gerbils seem happy enough with it.

Absolutely brilliant

Bought this for our Gerbils in November used half a bag to fill their enclosure plus some soft bedding, they absolutely loved it. They were forever digging making tunnels and a mess lol I would highly recommend it, I've also used it for our Hamsters who seem to enjoy it as well.

Great!

I used to use carefresh and kaytee but since moving to chipsi I have had a very happy hamster. Amber absolutely loved burrowing now and the burrows hold so so well ! It’s really soft and smells nice Long lasting One bag and a quarter fills my 100x50 cage and gives my hammy loads of space to burrow

Cheap and cheerful

Very cheap but very safe, my hamster loves it. Came next day

The least dusty, most absorbent bedding I’ve tried

I have many mice, so my room smells strongly of an oatmeal-like scent even with an air purifier. Since using this, there has been very little odour and the room is extremely fresh. The only smell I can pick up is normally the odour of the bedding itself. It’s great for burrowing, though you will want to mix it with hay or paper bedding to hold their tunnels firmly, and it’s also very low in dust which is perfect for my mice with more sensitive respiratory systems. Will be buying again

Chipsi bedding

I use this bedding for my Syrian hammy, because carefresh was getting too expensive, in my opinion, this bedding is better then any other as it holds burrows very well. also very cheap, just keep in mind that some hamsters may be allergic so if any redness, irritation etc occurs then be mindful that it could be the bedding. Overall: 4/5

Much bigger once opened

When i bought it (i got two packs) i thought they looked very small, i took the bedding out and broke up the chunks and it is amazing, it expands like 10x the size

No inhaler or dust mask needed for asthmatics

As an asthmatic I find lots of wood shavings & sawdust excessively dusty which can trigger asthma attacks without wearing a dust mask whilst cleaning out the rabbit. This product however, whilst not 100% dust free (for obvious reasons) is still the best I've found by far. Haven't needed a dust mask or inhaler since using this product.

Very small

Very small amount, bad with measurements so didn’t realise how small. So why the price feeling very ripped off.

Absolutely not suitable for hamsters!

As soon as I started breaking up the wood shavings with my hands, I scratched myself on a splinter. I checked carefully and in less than 7cm of compressed shavings I found loads of large, stiff splinters, absolutely not suitable for letting a hamster go through, since it should be able to dig tunnels and make itself a nest. I'll break up a bit more, being extremely careful, only because I need it urgently, but I expect to throw almost all of it away.

Bedding

I bought two packs and was a bit disappointed because there were honestly some really big and sharp pieces of wood inside. When I spread the bedding in my hamster’s cage, it made a lot of dust that got into his eyes and nose. The bedding itself is okay, but I won’t buy it again.

Satisfied customer

I always order this one because it’s not dusty, which is exactly why I use it for my guinea pig. I’m satisfied with it and can only recommend it—it works great for us.
