Kangaroo

Not good unfortunately

One of my cats was vomiting after eating this food 😟

Super handy novel protein cat food

I used this when following novel protein diet and was so handy to have she was missing wet food. She ate happily for a while then went off them which is totally normal for her. I would recommend if you need to try something novel but it wasn't a long term solution for her as even after over a month break when I try again she's not interested and just wants the highly flavoured pouches not she's back eating most foods again

Food has changed

Had several batches now where it’s light in colour, and has become more hard with less moisture. Used to be a dark colour that was nice and soft. Cat doesn’t like it as much.

Starting to change…

Initially my cat with IBD was happy. I’d take out the odd small piece of bone but it was good meat and moist. Now, he’s starting to not eat it because it’s pure organ meat. It’s a real shame because he has severe IBD and it’s the only thing he can eat :(. I hope they change it back, or at least go easy on the amount of liver or kidney! Hopefully it was just the batch…

Made my cat sick

Unfortunately, this food made my cat very sick. I guess it was tasty as she licked her bowl clean, however she was sick afterwards and very lethargic (didn’t want to even stand up) so I had to take her to the vet, where they gave her anti sickness injection- she is recovering well. Not sure if it was just a bad batch but I would not recommend this food for cats with allergies.

So far so good

My cat’s on royal canin hypoallergenic dry food and I’m currently trying to find a monoprotein wet option I can feed him along with his dry food without triggering his GI issues. So far all the other hydrolysed protein/novel protein options have failed so I’m hoping kangaroo is the one. He definitely loves the taste of it! I also mix his probiotics powder in this food and he doesn’t even seem to mind, he normally hates the stuff. I just wish it was possible to get smaller tins of this food.

Great for an exclusion diet

on our vets recommendation mono protein Kangaroo is what our cat gets for at least the next 8 weeks whilst they try and diagnose whether it's his food he's been allergic to. Price of this is on a par with what he was eating. Personally, I think it has a very strong and unpleasant smell but that seems to suit Wolf. The texture is unlike any other food he's had, sort of smooth pate with pieces of meat in it Initially ordered 2 packs, just ordered a further 4.

The Zooplus version tastes awful

The Zooplus version is completely rejected. However, the original in the pouch tastes good. Why do they always have to change the recipes? Unfortunately, money wasted on 18 cans.

If my cat wasn't allergic to wild boar, I'd definitely order this for her too.

My cat, who’s allergic to poultry and fish protein, seems to be allergic to wild boar protein too. 😅 Otherwise, the contents of the can are very good in terms of moisture and meat, and it’s easy to eat. The other cats like it.

Change of ingredients

My allergic cat used to happily eat the kangaroo in the 400g tin that I bought before, but now she won't even lick it. Money wasted, no information about a change in the ingredients. I don't recommend it.

Okay, but boring

The cats eat the food but get bored quickly. It’s not a flavour they want to have for several meals in a row. The food is compact and hard. It needs to be mashed with a fork to get the texture the cats prefer. Of the brands with monoprotein turkey that the cats have tried, this one comes in joint third place with MAC’s. catz seems to have better quality and/or grinding (without vessels and lumps). First place goes to Venandi, and second place to Concept for Life Veterinary Diet Hypoallergenic Turkey.

Even picky eaters like it

One of the few wet foods that disappears from the bowl so quickly. My Ragdoll developed an allergy to poultry, so I was looking for a mono-protein food without poultry and straight away – full tolerance and everything’s fine in the litter box.

elderly cat, allergic to everything and diabetic

What can I say? With just one product, the allergy symptoms (dermatitis, stomatitis, eosinophilic granuloma) improved and we’re keeping his blood sugar under control. My Pippo is an elderly cat with lots of health issues, but this food has been a game changer. Unfortunately, the texture is a problem for us: the harder pieces got stuck between his teeth and hurt him because of the inflammation in his mouth. I solved it with a blender and a bit of patience: I blend it with a little water and it turns into a perfect puree.

A shame about customer trust

Thank you for the reviews about this food which, after the obvious change in its composition, is unfortunately now unacceptable for my pet.
