Many cats enjoy the Smilla cat food for its high meat content and reasonable price, with some owners noting their pets' shiny coats and good digestion. However, reactions vary widely; some cats love it, while others refuse to eat it, citing texture and recipe changes. ALLERGIES BE AWARE
My cat has had a really bad reaction this product i tried for the first time she has been having a massive skin reaction itching and scratching herself day and night she is left with scabs all over her body. She is generally not fussy and eats everything i first couldnt work out why she had spots all over but it stopped spreading as soon as i stopped giving her this food and I binned the rest! I cannot recommend this to any cat owner

Both cats love it
Both our gannets love this food and it’s higher in meat yet reasonable price. 1,5 cheap tins=1 of these with our pair. It is a very smooth pate type texture compared to others in the range.

Good product
We've tried a few different beef pot flavours and both my cats really like them.

Beef with duck
Due to the consistency (very fine), only my 13-year-old cat eats it. My 3-year-old tomcat doesn’t like it at all.

All 7 cats didn’t like this!
We have a household of 7 cats and none of them would touch this food! It’s cheap nasty pate type food. Don’t buy it!

Better value for money than other budget brands
With around 30% meat content, it's much better than other types, e.g., supermarket brands. The acceptance among spoiled house cats could be better, but the digestibility is good. I've been feeding Smilla to the stray village cats for years, and they gobble it up in no time. It's grain-free and better than the usual run-of-the-mill varieties.

My fussy eater loves it
My cat loves it and eats them all every time I feed him. The texture is different from the regular one, my fussy cat who loves food enjoys the differences and licks his bowl clean.
I am glad Smilla has developed different flavours and textures on the cat food, so the fussy eater won't get bored. I also don't need to break my bank for him to enjoy different good quality food from other brands, and take risks for his tummy or bad poo.

Little meat and strange texture!
Unfortunately, only one of my cats eats it. Looks like a mouse. Not that great.

Used to be much better.
Unfortunately, the recipe is often changed. It used to be one of my cat's favourites. After the recipe was altered, it’s hardly accepted anymore. The manufacturer should be aware that cats are very particular about taste and notice even the smallest changes, which they then reject. Additionally, the earlier consistency (around 2019) and the smell were much more pleasant.

Different texture
My cats love the beef poultry pot so I thought I'd try this beef pot. The consistency was completely different to the poultry pot. It was a completely smooth pate and my cats wouldn't even touch it. It all went to a cat charity instead.

Our cats don't like it.
Unfortunately, our cats don't like the taste. Otherwise, it has a good price-performance ratio.

Beef Pot with duck
My two cats who are fussy can't get enough of this! It's more like a Pate in texture. No grains, obviously good for them their coats are shiny - Added bonus is that they ask for it in the evening - which gives me the time to close the catflap for the night!!

Was eaten immediately
It doesn’t look bad and doesn’t smell awful either. It looks and smells just like any other food. My cats accepted it straight away and ate it – a good alternative for those on a budget.

Very satisfied!
The turkey variety of the "Rindtöpfchen" was immediately accepted by both of my pets and they tolerated it really well! The consistency is excellent and the price is reasonable too! Great food ;-)

Great addition to the poultry pot
I let my furry friends try all the varieties, and they love it – just like all the poultry pots. Hopefully, the beef pots will soon be available in 800g tins as well.

My cats love it!
I tested the new wet food varieties, and my two cats seem to really enjoy them! They’ve handled it really well too, so we’ll definitely be ordering again.

Most popular grain-free food - even for those on a budget
By chance, I noticed that there are 4 new wet food varieties from Smilla and immediately ordered some to try. The beef pots were even more popular with my furry gang than the poultry pots – the plate was empty in no time.
Of course, there are food brands that are significantly higher quality than Smilla, but for a tighter budget (or if you need to save a bit), Smilla is definitely great. We alternate it with Feringa, Macs, Catz Finefood, Canelis & Grau.
