About Natalie Decker | Author, zooplus Pet Magazine

Like so many millennials, I wanted to do “something in media” after finishing school, so I chose to study communication science at the University of Augsburg. After completing my bachelor’s degree, I’d had enough of dry theory, overcrowded lecture halls and unpaid internships. So I decided against doing a master’s degree and opted instead for a traineeship at an online editorial office in Munich.

The publishing house no longer exists today, but my skills have remained: As a trained editor I have now been writing for over 20 years a wide variety of texts – from short product descriptions to in-depth features, interviews and books. By attending further training courses, including at the Bavarian Press Academy, I keep my knowledge up to date.

As a freelance writer, I’m fortunate to be able to write in the zooplus Magazine about one of my favourite topics: responsible pet ownership. Through my articles, I aim to raise awareness of animal welfare and offer useful tips to fellow animal lovers.
