About Jana Schubert | Author, zooplus Pet Magazine

As a content strategist who has been working for years with behaviourally informed, evidence-based writing, I’ve often found myself asking the same question: why are we so captivated by animals? Perhaps it’s because they meet us without pretence. They behave in a way that’s genuine, straightforward and transparent. That builds trust and touches something within us that goes beyond words.

Even as a child, cats, mice and horses were my constant companions. Today, I not only write professionally about animals, but also volunteer my time at the “Tierseelenhoffnung” animal shelter in Frankenburg, where I regularly care for around 80 cats. It quickly becomes clear there: every animal has its own story.

Even my cat Kaliope carries such a story within her. She comes from Crete, where I spontaneously adopted her off the street a few years ago. It’s a love story!

For the zooplus Magazine, I write with the aim of sharpening exactly this loving perspective on animals – with practical tips for species-appropriate care, with animal profiles or with insights into behaviour and needs. Because I believe communication only truly resonates when it’s authentic, empathetic and clear. That’s why my texts offer not just facts, but also explain why they matter. For the animals. And for us humans who share our lives with them.

Highlights from my career

  • Owner of “Textaffin” – content strategy & text production for websites, product descriptions, customer communications and blogs.
  • Specialised in behaviourally informed text design – writing that not only informs but has impact.
  • Volunteer work at the Tierseelenhoffnung animal shelter (Frankenburg) – close contact with animals and first-hand practical knowledge.
