Hemp bedding for small animals - softer than pellets! Natural hemp, very low in dust.
Hemp Bedding Siccofloor is made from natural hemp and is free from insecticides, herbicides etc. The bedding is regularly tested for harmful substances. No artificial fertilizers, chemical additives, binding agents or aromas are used in its manufacture.
Hemp bedding is a great alternative to traditional bedding for small pet cages and aviaries.
It can be spread very thinly, making it a very economical option. It is an excellent choice for allergic pets and owners, as it does not smear or produce dust. Hemp bedding can be disposed of in your garden compost. It will biodegrade completely within eight weeks.
Advantages of natural hemp bedding at a glance:
Environmentally friendly - regularly checked
Does not smear or produce dust
Softer and cosier than pellets
pH-neutral, suitable for allergic pet owners
Very economical - only thin layers needed
May be used for up to 12 weeks (remove expanded parts)
Ideal for garden compost
Completely degrades within eight weeks, turning into excellent compost
This is a really great value bedding. Slightly less soft than other hemp bedding, but I have had no issues with it. It easily fills an Alaska hamster cage 6 or more more times with plenty of depth for digging. Very great value and it is compacted a lot so takes up a small space considering how long it lasts

Substandard bedding
my first couple of bales were not as good as other brands but useable, the most recent bale however caused all of my mice and multimammates to show signs of respiratory issues, sneezing and clicking within just a few hours of putting the substrate in their cages. Thankfully they all recovered after removing the substrate and replacing it with a different substrate. I am aware it could just be an unfortunate bad batch, needless to say I am now very put off the idea of using this substrate again

Value for money
Purchased this about a month ago and was keen to use it. I use this for a Syrian hamster. It's great at absorbing smells(clean out once every 2 weeks with spot clean inbetween) and the hamster enjoys building her nest in it however I don't think the quality is that great. There a dampish smell to it and also some cotton wool(?)mixed in having said that I've never tried any other brands so I'm not sure if it's just a hemp thing.

Safe and affordable
I use this bedding for my syrian hamster. It is extremely good value; I bought a bale 4 months ago and am barely half way through. Good with odour control; I am able to clean out every month and spot clean when it starts to get a bit smelly.
Good for long haired animals as doesn't get stuck in their fur yet if I mix it with hay she is still able to dig down in it and holds pretty well.

hemp bedding
I have had three bales of this bedding ,the 1st bale was soft, but the last two bales are damp smelling and has a lot of dust, and alot of cotton wool texture.it is absorbent.i will not be buying this brand of hemp bedding again.

Best bedding
I've been finding carefresh colours really dusty lately and decided to give hemp a try for my hamsters but still wanted something soft. Well I'm extremely pleased with it! Didn't seem dusty, wasn't making my nose itch like carefresh was and extremely soft. Has a fresh hay kind of smell too!

Messy but good value.
I was using carefresh with my 5 rats, 2 hamsters and snake, which as you can imagine was very costly. Whilst browsing zooplus I came across this and thought I'd give it a go and I'm so glad I did. It's very messy and goes everywhere, and doesn't quite contain the stink my rats produce as well as carefresh, but for the price it's definitely worth it.

Value for money
Pros: it's the best hamster bedding product I've tried so far. It lasts long, no funny smell.
Cons: it's a bit dusty, it makes my sneeze every time I clean my hamster's cage.

Cheap bedding but not as soft or as dust-free as hoped
This is excellent value for money... I have a 100x50 cage and a Detolf and this stuff lasts for forever. It feels harsher to me that I was expecting and is dusty enough to make me wheeze on cage cleanouts. I may use it again in a pinch as it is very absorbent and cost-effective, but I'm back to the drawing board on substrate, unfortunately.

Highly recommended
The best bedding material we have had. Really absorbent, dust free and the guinea pigs seem really happy with it. Please keep stocking it!

Great Product! seems to be Siccofloor under a different name.
Have tried Megasorb, carefresh, fitch, woodshavings, aubiose and now this and I have to say this is the best substrate money can buy for hamsters or any small animal.I found my hamsters were scratching a lot on woodshavings and then on Fitch which is white and like carefresh but softer.Maybe due to mites I don't know..had the same problem with Aspen...have now tried a bag of Hemparade(Siccofloor) and its brilliant..no scratching at all with any of our hamsters and they can still burrow down in this substrate and you'll find this is a lot lot softer than what Aubiose hemp is..so do give this a try..its even better than Hugro hemp in my view..so what are you waiting for try this hemp substrate and you wont regret it..its excellent stuff and very absorbant too.

Is this Siccofloor Re Branded?
Great stuff, softer and less allergenic than Aubiose, and it lasts a long time too. What ever happened to Siccofloor hemp on this site?Is this the same product & its been Re Branded.. or is it completely different, and been made by a different supplier..does anyone know please? If you are looking for hemp substrate I think this is far better and much softer on the hamsters feet than aubiose hemp substrate is.It is Not as sharp either, cause I worry about what if the hamster pouches it and it gets stuck in their mouths causing damage to the cheek pouches or throat.Megasorb is another good product for substrate and I wished zooplus would stock this alternative, but if its hemp you really want then I recommend this Hemparade, which hopefully IS Siccofloor re branded. Its lovely and soft and has a composty feel to it and I think a pleasanter smell than aubiose.

|Happy owner of a Syrian hamster.
I'm allergic to this
Hemp bedding was recommended to me by a reputable independent pet shop. I have given 3 *'s because although I think this is far better than sawdust, unfortunately it has caused allergic reactions in me really quite badly including an asthma attack. I have tried other brands and it is the same. So there is nothing 'wrong' with this brand I'm sure. It is just hemp. l now use the paper based bedding and l don't react to that. I just wanted to warn anyone who might be prone to an allergic reaction.

Nice bedding
This bedding goes a long way, it has a pleasant smell, spills can be easily hoovered up and it keeps the smells under control. I have previously used sawdust (before I knew it was bad for rats), cardboard and cat litter but this is my favourite. The rats also seem to find it comfy to sleep on unlike other types of bedding.

excellent product
This is great for my guinea pigs and my hamster. I also use the soiled hemp on the garden - helps keep the slugs and snails away from my flowers and blocks weeds. As it's biodegradable it's fine to use in this way.

Is this hem parade hemp the same product as Siccofloor under a new name?
I have recently ordered this hemp and I can say I highly recommend it.I don't know if it's siccofloor hemp under a new name or whether it's a different brand but I find it to be the best brand of hemp that Zooplus sell.Hugro hemp is good but this is better and gets my vote, and as it's a big bag it goes a long way and I rate it 10 out of ten.Excellent product...do get a bag it's well worth it and if anyone who reviews this product after me knows whether this brand is siccofloor and it's been re branded that will be a big help.

great for dwarf hamsters
My dwarf hamsters were developing dermatitis from pine shavings due to the dust. We could not find an alternative that wasn't paper based. Dwarves tend to chew and carry their bedding in their pouches so I didn't like the idea of paper as it would swell up. Hemp is a great natural product with beneficial oils. My hamsters love it as they can make tunnels and nests that don't collapse. They also pull apart the fibres for nesting material and it keeps them warm. I have also noticed that it doesn't get flung out of wire cages so easily so there is less mess on the floor! This large bale lasts me ages and we use it generously in 4 cages.

Great stuff
My mice have a great time with this hemp - one of them especially loves digging in it and transporting it around the cage, and it's good to see them enjoying making tunnels. The smell is pleasant, and it's nice and soft too. You get a massive amount for your money too!
