This sweet smelling mountain meadow hay made from top quality hay is full of vital nutrients and has a high fibre content. Ready to use and great value for money.
Hay is an important staple food for your small pet and Vilmie Mountain Meadow Hay should be part of any rabbit or guinea pig’s diet. It contains plenty of healthy, leafy plants and herbs which are packed full of vital nutrients. Fresh hay has a high fibre content which helps to keep your small pet’s digestive system healthy. It also has an abrasive effect on your pet’s teeth and helps to keep them short. Your pet should always have plenty of hay available.
A top-quality product at a fair price; Vilmie Mountain Meadow Hay is made from loosely packed, fragrant hay.
Vilmie - for happy small pets!
Please note:
Meadow hay is a natural, untreated product that varies with the season and the weather conditions. Varying shades of green, yellow stalks or a paler colour are not signs of inferior quality. Good hay can be distinguished by smell and consistency. Quality hay will smell fresh and pleasant and will include very few, if any, hard, coarse plant components.
As hay is a natural product, consistency may vary with the season.
Feeding Recommendation
Please make sure that your pet always has plenty of hay and fresh water. The hay should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
The hay was described as mountain hay which I was attracted to to give a better quality feed for our rabbits.
The hay was cut far too short, was full of dust, had a lot of straw added and was very sharp.
Our rabbits didn't touch it so had to go out to buy a different edible brand.
Maybe I had a bad batch but others who have reviewed have faced the same issue of poor quality and the hay isn't cheap.
I would definitely not recommend this hay.

Thorns!
Overall the hay isn't too bad but I couple of times I've grabbed a handful of hay and gotten a thorn in my hand! I wouldn't want my piggy hurting his mouth on thorns so I won't be ordering this brand again!

Very poor quality
This hay is disgusting quality not only is it dusty but it’s full of stones and lumps of mud I’ve had to throw it out as don’t feel safe to feed to animals

Will not buy again
After thinking I was getting a good deal, I realised as soon as it arrived I hadn’t. The hay was full of dirt and small stones. Will never feed this hay to my bunny. Have had a refund

Really good
It's a very good hay that smells fresh and my animals love it in between as a change from the versele- larva Timothy hay

Pale and chopped too short.
I bought this primarily for my gerbils as I had a feeling it wouldn’t be good enough for my guineas to eat. It works well as a substrate that they can tunnel in (for the gerbils) and chew up but would never feed it to rabbits or guinea pigs. Obviously a poor batch as others have commented on it being green- mine is very pale and doesn’t have a nice fresh hay smell.
Two stars only for the fact it’s good for the gerbils.

Vera dusty
Very dusty and dirty hay. I’m even thinking to throw a just opened 4kg bag away and buy a better quality hay. It’s cheap, pigs eat it but I hate to clean a room every time I put this hay into a rack. I even don’t know why I gave 2 stars.. :/

Very dusty
I have bought this product several times and been pretty happy with it. Unfortunately the last bag is awful. It’s full if seeds and dust and the hay is chopped up small. I’m having to take it outside to try and get rid of the dust and most of the seeds. Pretty disappointing and will be looking for an alternative now

Extremely good
Hay is green and soft. The bag is very compressed but it’s easy to get the hay out. Guinea pigs absolutely love it and it’s very cheap for the quality. 100% recommend!

At last a hay they love!
They love this hay, it's soft and green. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that it is quite dusty and dirty.

Fine
My piggies aren't fussy and ate this hay very happily. Think I'll try some with added goodies this time.

Lovely quality hay for a decent price
Bought this as my five rabbits were going off the farm bale that I usually buy. They enjoy it very much, even the couple of fussy ones that I have! They always enthusiastically tuck in, and although it's dearer than the farm hay, it's a pretty good price, considering the size of the big bag. It's a hit with the guinea pigs (although they eat anything), and I've even spotted the cat having a munch on the greener strands! It's a good mix of soft and stalky, and has a few flowers and herbs in it. It also smells really great and isn't packed too tightly that you can't get anything out. All in all, I'm very happy with it, and will definately buy it again.

Straw mixed in
Bought this purely as food for my piggies, not bedding, but it has a lot of straw in it which they will not eat and can be quite hard

I had the 14kg bale and loved it as did my 4 guinea pigs and 3 rabbits. A bit dusty but nothing too bad.
