General information:

  • When feeding your dog with a veterinary diet you should consult your vet regularly for check-ups.
  • If your dog's health deteriorates please seek veterinary advice immediately.

veterinary health nutrition

Recently there has been a dramatic increase in overweight and obese pets. A common cause of excess weight in pets is over-feeding and under-exercising. Energy requirements have changed since nowadays many dogs spend most of their lives inside. They do not get the chance to run around a lot which means that they cannot burn the energy they consume, so these calories are stored as fat.
Being overweight not only affects your pet's well-being, it can also have long-term effects on your pet's health and ultimately reduce its life expectancy.
It is important to make sure your dog is the right weight. If your dog is a short-haired breed its waist and ribs should be just visible. If your dog is a long haired breed you should be able to feel its ribs easily. If you cannot see or feel the ribs your pet is overweight (or rather, if already on a diet, it has not yet achieved its ideal weight).
support your dog's health with Royal Canin satiety weight management
Royal Canin Veterinary - Satiety Support SAT 30 is a complete dog food for dogs which need to lose weight. It has a low energy density and will help your pet to lose weight. The high protein content, as well as high fibre content will help your dog to feel full and satisfied.
The kibble has a low energy density so the volume of daily food can be reduced up to 32% compared with other diet food.

a science-based formula to help your dog reach a healthy weight
Indications:

  • Obesity
  • Diabetes mellitus
  • Fibre responsive colitis
  • Constipation
  • Hyperlipidaemia
  • Overweight

Contraindications :
  • Pregnancy or lactation, puppies

Key benefits:

  • High protein content: this can help to maintain muscle mass throughout the weight loss period.
  • High fibre: Fibres that increase the feeding volume while lowering energy density. Carefully selected fibres ensure that your dog feels full up quickly and that this feeling of satiety lasts for a long time.
  • Balanced nutrients: A high concentration of minerals and vitamins help to compensate for the energy restrictions and ensure a balanced supply of vital nutrients.
  • Joint support : Chondroitin sulphate and glucosamin help to maintain normal mobility in the highly stressed joints of obese pets and have a positive effect on degenerative joint disease.

Changing your pet's diet and length of treatment:

The length of time your pet needs to stay on a reducing diet depends on how much weight needs to be lost. Weight should be lost slowly to ensure your pet stays healthy and only loses fat tissue from the body. Ideal weight loss is 1 to 3% of the bodyweight per week. Once your dog has reached its target weight it should be weighed regularly to ensure that it maintains an ideal body weight .You can help it to stay in shape with Royal Canin Weight Control, Weight & Osteo or Neutered products.
mix dry & wet for an optimal feeding experience

Dietary requirement
My vet recommened I switch my dogs dry food to Royal Canin Satiety as he was putting on a bit of weight. I gave him half as can of his normal wet food and a medium sized cup of the RC on top once of it once a day and the weight just dropped off him! He now has a lovely waistline and his poo is much healthier looking too! Dryer and nowhere near as smelly as it used to be! He loves it. Bought the large bag 4kg and it’s taken him about 2 months get through. I now have a much healthier dog 💖

Disappointed
Not sure if it’s only us… but my 4 year-old husky has been pooping 3-4 times a day and her poop stinks so badly after changing her food to this. When we got the same one last year, she was successfully losing weight and her poops were fine. Not sure why the one we bought this year is not helping her with the weight either.

What happened to this food?
My chocolate Labrador has been eating this for a few years, and loved it......until it was reformulated and now she won’t eat it at all. It has to be bad for a Choc Lab not to eat it! A complete waste of over £50.

Made my mini-dachshund very ill!
My mini-dachshund was happy on the previous version of this, but reacted badly to the newer formula. At first he was reluctant to eat it, then went on hunger strike completely. We had to add gravy or sauce, etc. just to get him to eat it, which ended up causing him to put on more weight, his coat went dull and he was lazy and lethargic. i switched him to RC's mini lightweight care and within three weeks he lost a kilo in weight and was back to his old happy bouncy self!

worst food ever
our Golden Retriever is 8 years old and has never had a digestive problem until we put him on this food and has upset him very badly. A total waste of money for us.

Such a shame
My dog has been on this food for over 4 years. Such a shame they had to change the formula a few months ago and it sadly no longer suits her. Won't be ordering it again. Why must they mess with tried and tested formulas? So annoying.

Lab refused to eat new formula!
My labrador enjoyed the old version called ‘obesity management’ and it kept his weight down. Have tried new formula which he reacted as if he had some discomfort and then he refused to eat it. Disappointed.

Change in formula bad
Have used this product over a number of years for my lab. No problems. New formula poor dog needs to poo 4 times a day and its very dry and crumbly. Seems to be very unexpected so he is pooing in the house. He gets very upset. Now soak for an hour so when processed does hold together. Will not be buying again.

Changed formula in product
I have to agree with the reviews I've read, had the new product, been using satiety for the last 2 years, our puggle has lost weight, but she really doesn't like this new formula, very disappointed, phoned royal canin customer service up and told them so.

New formula
I have used this dry food for over a year and has been highly successful in weight management. But the change in kibble and formula is causing my dog to struggle to eat it. One of the dogs is unable to swallow and digest it. Shame good product but change in product was wrong.

DISAPPOINTED
Have fed my 2 labs on this for a long time as recommended by my vet all has been good up until the change in the last bag. Now the eldest has done nothing but drink and of course wee! I’m looking into a new brand james well beloved senior seems to be a good one to try so if all the drinking changes once she is on it then I will put it down to the change in formula if not we will be off to the vets!

New formula?
My boy has been on this food for a while, and lost his excess weight. The last bag we got says new formula and it doesn't seem to suit him. He has been sick most nights, several visits to the vet could not find a cause. Changed his food and so far no sickness. Coincidence?

Not bad
My lab was overweight so vet recommended this food, bought from zooplus as cheapest by far. When totally weaned off his old food my boy was being sick 2-3 hrs after eating not good! Spoke to the vet said it could be the amount of protein as it's far too rich for him, apparently this happens quite a lot with this food!!so have found one high in fibre but so much lower in protein and he's happy on it,gave 3 stars as he has lost weight but wether that's down to bring sick after every meal??

It works!
After trying every other food to get our lab’s weight down, our vet recommended this. Six months later Ruby has lost 5kg, and she now looks so much better than when she came to us from rescue three years ago.It helps to make her feel full, so she doesn’t constantly scavenge, and she can run with the best of them now. Highly recommended.

This really works !! FLABrador no more
Our 5 yr old Yellow Labrador Rosie weighed in at an unhealthy 38.3 kg in Jan 2018. Our Vet recommended Royal Canin Satiety - so we tried it. She has lost 6.5 kgs since the start of the year and is a much better 32.0 kg at the last weigh-in. We can actually see her waist now ! Thanks Royal Canin.

Loss of weight
When I started my Sprocker Spaniel called Sweetie of 8 years according to her vet she was overweight infact she had weighed in at 22 kg. I have used one 12kg bag of Satiety she was weighed recently and her weight is now 18.2kg so I am very impressed with Satiety and my Sprocker looks much younger and I think I should change her name to Bambi by the way she bounces about now.
