Complete, grain-free dry cat food, formulated to contain a premium 80% fish and meat content. 20% vegetable content, enriched with salmon oil and prebiotics.
Applaws Chicken & Salmon Cat Food is a unique complete diet for adult cats. It simulates the natural diet of a cat in the wild in a dry kibble form. Cats are carnivores and their digestive system is adapted to thrive on a diet high in natural animal proteins, so this food contains a very high 80% content of premium chicken and salmon. High animal protein diets are easily accepted and easily digested, in addition to promoting a healthy weight and lean muscle mass. The natural cat diet does not contain any grains, as they are difficult for cats to digest. Applaws is 100% grain-free, so it is ideal for cats with nutritional intolerances and allergies.
Applaws Chicken & Salmon Cat Food is a premium quality kibble that uses only the best ingredients. Applaws uses only the highest quality animal muscle meat, so this dry food is free from any meat by-products. Additionally, functional ingredients like prebiotics and beet pulp help to support your cat’s digestive system. The added salmon oil helps to promote a glossy coat, as it is particularly rich in Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids.
Applaws dry food contains no artificial preservatives. The added antioxidants, for longer preservation of the food, are derived from natural selenium and natural tocopherol, which can have an additional positive effect on your cat's health and vitality.

She won't eat it at all and have to say, from a human standpoint, it doesn't smell particularly appetising. Not sure chicken and salmon combo is suitable.

Such a nutritious food, she loves it too!
I am shocked by the rating for this food and so had to review myself. After thorough research into cat nutrition I decided this was the best dry food for my girl. The meat content is exceptional. My cat, who has a habit of going off food after periods of time, has been on this for years and still runs to her bowl when she hears it. She eats this twice a day and a wet food twice. This food is so nutritious and if you care about what goes into your fur baby I highly recommend giving it a try.

Changed formula - stinky litter tray
Used to buy it for my cat 2 years in a row and he loved it, the litter tray never had bad smell, until the last order when I received my usal 6kg pack with completely different color and size cat food pieces. My cat didn't like to eat it but I thought I will give a few weeks to see if he gets used to it. Unfortunately, his litter tray started smelling umbarably every time he went for nr2 on top of that he developed urinary tract infection. Vets explained it to be due to changes in diet.

Allergic reaction in my cat
He enjoyed it but after a couple of weeks he developed a rash all over his body with excessive scratching and grooming. I've removed the food and he is slowly improving.

Cat has had allergic reaction - Avoid!
I rarely write reviews but as my cat has developed a skin complaint and has been losing hair after eating applaws, I wanted to make sure other people were aware of this before purchasing. Since buying it I have since read several reviews saying similar which I wish I had read first. I'd recommend a different brand or you may be putting your cat's health at risk.

Citrus extract is toxic to cats
I was going to buy some of this, then read the reviews of numerous cats being sick and pulling their fur out. I read up about citrus extract, which one reviewer mentioned because it's an ingredient, and found that it is toxic to cats, so I won't be buying it.

cats love it
used as a complimentary snack for the greedy felines -wont eat a meal without some treats so we sprinkle a bit of this on their very expense raw food!

applaws dry cat food
I now have 2 cats and a third that visits!
Have fed applaws wet and dry to all
Salmon flavoured dry food is the favourite, all eat it with relish and are looking good
Rag Doll cross vomits when fed wet chicken, so stopped giving it
Particularly like 7.5 kg size

applaws
My older cat loves these and the large packs are a bargain, in a well known pet store these are £19.99. Really good quality ingredients.

Goes down well...but comes back up!
This cat food seems great in terms of the ingredients but all 3 of my male cats were constantly hungry and looking for more food. 2 of the 3 (the 2 gingers) are repeatedly sick with this stuff. What a shame I had hoped I had found a food that would suit us. Back to the drawing board.

Mixed review - good and bad
I have fed Applaws since 2013 when my cats were
kittens. Switched to adult with no problems +
have fed Applaws chicken since. About 1 year ago, look + smell of kibble changed + cats went off the chicken one but still scoff down chicken + salmon (hence the 2nd star). Projectile vomiting is common with pure chicken and non-existant with chicken + salmon. They HATE the rice in the Applaws wet food. Change in recipe obvious. Too bad.

More than a little concerned ...
I have three neutered lads and all have wet and dry food. Their usual hairball control kibbles don't seem to be available any more, so I thought they could try this. They have all eaten some and one has been fine. The other two - who have good appetites - have eaten theirs and then projectile vomited, bringing up their wet food as well as the kibble biscuits. They are not ill as such - they are hungry and crying for food after vomiting ......

GREAT
I have fed this to my cat and they love it!! I am so happy that I have found Applaws.

1/2 cats vomited
Just planning to bulk buy but read reviews first. Penny just dropped and I realize the 'vomiting' episode coincided with trying applaws dry food a few months ago. I bought two types and didn't register which ones were given to them. Safer to steer clear for us.

Faulty product made my cat ill - please be aware!!
Last year I bought Applaws dry cat food in chicken and duck flavour which my cat absolutely loved. I then ordered a bag of this food in chicken flavour, and another in chicken and salmon flavour. Since feeding my cat these 2 new flavours he's gone from being a healthy and happy indoor cat to pulling his fur out in large clumps. I took him to the vet and they suggested a change in diet might be causing the problem. It suddenly clicked with me that this Applaws food was causing his skin problems. After doing some research and reading reviews on here, I saw other people were experiencing the same thing. I can only assume the food is faulty or contaminated somehow. Applaws have asked me to return the food for testing and I've received a full refund from Zooplus. Please avoid buying this flavour to avoid distress and illness in your cat too.

A Firm Favourite
This is a great product. Good quality ingredients, no rubbish and both my cats will eat it without complaint. They both have good healthy coats and no digestive issues. A firm favourite.

Same as the rest, new recipe is a disaster
After reading the reviews here I now know why my cats have stopped eating this food , it's the recipe change , they have been happily eating this for years and it helped a lot to control their weight but now they are always hungry and not touching the food :-( please if this is your regular food get a small bag with the new recipe first just so you don't get lumped with a massive bag. Also it does pong a wee bit more!
